Bey and Jay

By Zachary Swickey

Jigga man Jay-Z may have 99 problems but chivalry ain’t one – the rap superstar is showing his support his pregnant wifey Beyonce by joining her on a strict dieting regimen.

A source tells Us Weekly that the duo have been maintaining a "partially vegan diet," which will surely help Queen B get her notably drool-worthy physique back after her baby is delivered. (No one’s exactly sure when she’s due, but our best guess is early in the New Year.)

Discussing Hova’s new vegan-centric diet, the source states, "Jay’s trying to be disciplined, and he needs the energy to support her."

Beyonce previously talked to "20/20" about her eating habits, saying, "I’ve been really conscious [about food]. I’ve been trying my best not to lose control!"

The source also adds to Us that the couple were "dancing up a storm" at The Spare Room gaming lounge at the Hollywood Roosevelt – partying ‘til 4 AM, while Jay blows off steam from his monumental Watch the Throne tour with chum Kanye West. Read More...

Beyonce had a big year in 2011 and we're not even talking about, well, you know!

Musically the queen of mainstream R&B had her game face on this year, releasing SEVEN music videos from her amazing album 4, each completely different from the one before it. We've been singing 4's praises for months on end, and each new video was an event worth celebrating.

Whether she was dancing up a storm in a post-apocalyptic world in "Run The World (Girls)" or throwing a trailer park fiesta in "Party," she was constantly changing things up with inventive visuals, clever concepts and evolving looks that, yes, sometimes played up (and other times downplayed) the world's most famous baby bump.

But which clip was the fan-favorite? Do you like your Beyonce super sexy ("1+1," "Best Thing I Never Had") or blissed-out and groovin' ("Love on Top," "Countdown")? Refresh your memory by checking out the clips ("Girls" is above, the rest are below) and vote in our poll after the jump. Read More...

Beyonce

By Zachary Swickey

With the motion capture abilities of Xbox’s Kinect, which allows users to control the system through gestures and spoken commands rather than through a controller, dance video games are all the rage – even the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson, has one. Beyonce was at one time poised to have the same bragging rights, but the pop starlet is now being sued for $100 million after supposedly “abandoning” the video game project.

According to the Daily Mail, video game company Gate Five is claiming that Bey “abruptly abandoned” their project for a dance video game set to feature the diva dubbed “Starpower: Beyonce.” And the company claims they lost $7 million from investing in the development of the scrapped project.

Beyonce’s lawyers made a request that the lawsuit be rejected, but a Manhattan Supreme Court judge refused to do after legal papers were officially filed against the singer earlier this year. Gate Five believes that the singer was in breach of their November 2010 contract when she supposedly backed out of the project. They are suing for $100 million – what they estimate is potential profit the game would have accrued. The company states, “She destroyed Gate Five’s business and drove 70 people into unemployment, the week before Christmas (in 2010).” Read More...

Jessica Simpson

Pregnant ladies of the future rejoice! Some very stylish celebrities plan to dream up some fabulous fashions for the expecting set. So, if one day you plan to have a baby on board, Jessica Simpson and Beyonce have got your back.

The two pop stars-turned-pregnant moguls, have recently announced that they want to make moms look cool, though we imagine it might take a second to get the lines to market (you know since they are currently probably more focused on their pregnancies).

Beyonce made her announcement in Harper’s Bazaar, sharing her philosophy about dressing for two. "I love figuring out designs that still make me feel edgy and sexy while pregnant," she told the mag. "Flowy fabrics are always flattering…but I still rock my stilettos."

So does Jessica, who Fashionista reports will have her maternity line out by February. Given how successful Jessica has been in the fashion world, we have no doubt that she’ll be able to nail down just what mommas-to-be all across the world want to wear. Read More...

Last night's announcement of the nominees for the 2012 Grammys came with them few surprises: Kanye West earned a leading seven nominations for his solo work on My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and the Jay-Z collaboration Watch the Throne and Adele's mega-selling 21 and its ubiquitous lead single "Rolling in the Deep" dominated the top categories. There were, however, several notable snubs among the nominations, the most glaring of which we've cataloged below.

Kanye West's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, Album of the Year

How Kanye West could score the most nominations, including Best Song for "All of the Lights," and not see his critically adored Fantasy nominated for Album of the Year is beyond us. The set enjoys a 94 out of 100 rating on album review aggregator Metacritic, a full 18 points better than the highest-rated album to make the Grammy cut (Adele's 21 with a 76).

Lady Gaga's "The Edge of Glory," Song of the Year

Lady Gaga has released so many singles off her hit album Born This Way that we sometimes lose track, but the one track that has really stuck is "The Edge of Glory." Lyrically inspired by the death of her grandfather, the song features soaring hooks and the most anthemic chorus to hit Top 40 radio this year. That the Academy chose to honor only four songs with nominations in this category rather than the usual five while overlooking the highlight of an album it chose to award a nomination for Album of the Year is silly business.

Beyonce

Beyonce is one smart cookie.

Today, everyone is going a little crazy with the news that the pop star may be welcoming her baby with hubby Jay-Z a little earlier than everyone expected. In a YouTube clip from the set of her video for "Countdown," King Bey holds up the Sept. 23 edition of the New York Daily News and responds to its "Oh Baby!" headline by saying she is six months pregnant.

"Hello, it's Sept. 23. Oh baby! Oh baby! Oh baby! Oh baby! This was on the cover of the Daily News. Right now I'm actually shooting the video for 'Countdown' and I'm six months pregnant, pretending that my stomach is flat in body suits," the superstar says in the clip. "But thank god you can't really tell from the front, but when I turn to the side ... Oh baby! Oh baby!"

But wait! That would mean that she is due in mid-to-late December and not February, as was reported earlier during a sit-down interview with the star on Australia's "Sunday Night." That's a pretty dramatic shift in time! And it makes us wonder if Beyonce isn't maybe trying create a little bit of confusion around when she's actually due so she can give birth in peace. It's a totally understandable trick – Beyonce is notoriously private and unlike many modern celebrities, who quite literally invite cameras into the delivery room, our girl Bey has never been one to give in to the prying eyes of the press.

Paul M and Nikki Reed

Some celebrity couples want to do everything together. Even if it's not the thing they're best known for.

But with the glow of their recent wedding still shining bright, "Twilight" actress Nikki Reed and former "American Idol" contestant Paul McDonald have committed their love to plastic courtesy of their first joint single, "Now That I Found You."

The twangy ballad, with music by McDonald and lyrics by Reed, is, predictably, about finding true love in the eyes of your beloved. The pair's vocals don't exactly find the perfect mix, as McDonald's raspy, Rod Stewart drawl overpowers Reed's generic voice, employed mostly as musical wallpaper. Reed said McDonald is encouraging her to pursue music in a more serious way, so the song may be just the first of many future collaborations.

Who knows if these two will become the next Sonny and Cher or the modern Don Johnson and Barbra Streisand. But whatever the future holds, they can feel confident that plenty of other musical couples have their back. Read More...

Pop star collaborations are a pretty common trend nowadays, so there's no doubt that a team-up between Britney Spears, Beyoncé and Lady Gaga would shake up the pop scene (and possibly break the Internet). And while the triple treat duet is only a mere wishful thought, English rock band Kaiser Chiefs’ video for “Kinda Girl You Are” has helped fans visualize what it could be like to see the threesome in action.

Using look-a-likes of each of the pop titans, Kaiser Chiefs’ clip follows the entertainers as they venture on an all-day city adventure. Britney kicks off the all-girl outing when she hot wires a car to pick up her pop peers on the side of the street. Bey and Gaga appeared side by side in a car during in the “Telephone” video in 2010, and it looks like they’re still driving on a path towards rebellion. Whether they’re throwing things out the car, flashing fellow drivers or running around recklessly in an abandoned parking lot, these pop stars are set on letting lose.

Shenanigans continue into the late evening when the look-a-likes hit the downtown city. After passing a couple of loudmouthed men, Gaga approaches one of them, pushes his food out of his hand and licks his cheek. But even pop megastars aren’t immune to jealous girlfriends as an angry blonde confronts Mother Monster and begins a sidewalk brawl. Police appear just in time to break up the fight, but leave it to Beyoncé to steal the officer’s cap and flee away from the scene. “Kinda Girl You Are” closes with a quick scene of the entertainer eating take-out at a bus station.

Jessica Simpson

They say that when life hands you lemons you should make lemonade, and it looks like Jessica Simpson has taken this idiom to heart.

The reality TV/pop star announced yesterday that she is expecting her first child with fiancé Eric Johnson with a statement on her website accompanied by a photo of herself dressed as a mummy (get it?) with a caption reading, "It's true — I'm going to be a mummy!" But if Internet buzz is to be believed, Simpson didn't always plan to announce her pregnancy in such a low-key (but totally adorable and perfect) way. Word on the street is that Simpson wanted to sell her story to one of the weekly rags for a cool $500,000 but paparazzi caught her looking very pregnant before a deal could be reached and none of the tabloids would pony up the cash for the worst kept secret in Tinseltown.

We think the way Simpson ultimately handled the announcement was flawless. Sure, an extra $500 grand would have been nice, but it's not like she needs the cash – Simpson is inarguably the most successful celeb-turned- designer on the block with a billion dollar fashion line to her name. There's something that's just deeply lowbrow and gross about selling the details of your private life to a tabloid for profit. It's simply not an A-list thing to do, Jess. Pics of the kid once he or she is born we totally get – the celeb is getting ahead of demand for that first picture and saving their newborn from having a bounty placed on their head by paparazzi (though, if they were truly classy, they'd turn even that cash over to charity the way Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt did). But whenever we find out about, say, Michelle McGee selling the dirty details of her affair with Jesse James to In Touch, our stomach turns.

No, this was better, Jessica – less fame-whorey, less tabloid trashy. It's a trend we'd like to see catch on, and we're not just talking about stars opting away from the rags for announcements like this. Simpson's costume-clad, pun-filled statement was adorable and reminded us why we love the dizzy blonde bombshell.

So we're calling for all celebs from here on out to have a little more fun with these things than the standard-issue press release. This year, of course, there was another great example of a celeb taking her pregnancy announcement to another level. Check it out after the jump! Read More...

Beyonce

By Maura Gavaghan

What separates the fans from the stans of King Bey? Well, for starters … Lots and lots of DVDs.

Fans listen to her songs on their iPods and watch her latest music videos on MTV and YouTube while they get ready for a night out. Stans (aka mega-obsessive fans) make Beyoncé a part of their daily lives. They have a space in their bedrooms dedicated to the preservation of DVDs released by the Diva herself and pride themselves on knowing the choreography to each of Beyoncé's music videos (not just "Single Ladies," like the average fan might). They get very upset if you ever dare suggest she is anything less than perfection (not that we ever would … we promise) and may even come after you on Twitter for daring to question anything the pop star does.

So before you head out to purchase Beyonce's highly anticipated "Live at Roseland" DVD, a 2-disc set that includes highlights from her four intimate performances at New York's historic venue last August, take a look at your fan status. If you think you are ready to take it to the next level, consider purchasing some of these DVDs to prepare yourself for the November 21 release of "Live at Roseland": Read More...
