Brad Pitt

By Dionne Buxton

Brad Pitt is still working hard to pry the foot out of his mouth after making a few ill-worded remarks about ex-wife Jennifer Aniston.

In a recent interview with Parade Magazine, Brad spoke candidly about his marriage to Aniston, the subtext of which was that it was, well, a bit boring. “I spent the ‘90s trying to hide out, trying to duck the full celebrity cacophony. I started to get sick of myself sitting on a couch, holding a joint, hiding out," he said. "It started feeling pathetic. It became very clear to me that I was intent on trying to find a movie about an interesting life, but I wasn’t living an interesting life myself. I think that my marriage [to actress Jennifer Aniston] had something to do with it. Trying to pretend the marriage was something that it wasn’t."

His comments sent #TeamAnniston into an uproar. It turns out people are more concerned with Brad hurting Jennifer's feelings than his admitted past drug use.

On “The Today Show” this morning promoting his new film, “Moneyball,” Brad took time to clean up his statements, saying that Jennifer is " good people” and that “there should be a statute of limitations on this." (We do not disagree with him on this point!) Read More...

Our close personal friend Brad Pitt is backtracking on some comments he made to Parade magazine about his relationship with ex-wife Jennifer Aniston. Per usual, people are dissecting his words and projecting their personal feelings about his divorce from Aniston and his relationship with Angelina Jolie onto his quotes.

Since we refuse to get involved in tabloid bulls**t and create more fan fiction out of a six-years-dead marriage (the more you know: Pitt and Aniston divorced SIX years ago), we decided to bite the bullet and call up Angie Jo and William Bradley for comment. (Note: We did not call Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie.) Much to our surprise, Brad happily conferenced in Jen – they really do have an "important relationship," y'all – and we got the real story.

(We did not get the real story. All quotes are courtesy of previous interviews Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston have given on the topic.)

John Mitchell, editor, MTV Newsroom Blog: Hey Brad, how are you?

Brad Pitt, famously attractive actor: "I’m satisfied with making true choices and finding the woman I love, Angie, and building a family that I love so much."

Mitchell: That's great. What's the word, Angie?

Angelina Jolie, temptress, world-famous humanitarian, Oscar-winning actress: "I don't trust anyone." (source)

Mitchell: Girl, don't be like that! I imagine all this press is infuriating six years later. Do you need a hug?

Jolie: "I'm not a hugger. It's something that I have a hard time with. If someone hugs me, I hold my breath. Snuggling, cuddling, hugging, crying ... all that stuff makes me very uncomfortable."

Mitchell: Noted.

Jennifer Aniston, America's sweetheart, successful film actress, smartwater spokesperson: "Hello."

Mitchell: Jen! Thanks for calling in. How are things?

Aniston: "Am I lonely? Yes. Am I upset? Yes. Am I confused? Yes. Do I have my days when I’ve thrown a little pity party for myself? Absolutely. But I’m also doing really well." (source) Read More...

Paul McCartney

Rock legend Paul McCartney may be getting married to longtime girlfriend Nancy Shevell this weekend. Or maybe he isn't. The gossip rags can't seem to keep their story straight. But, you know, mazel tov to the happy couple either way!

McCartney and Shevell announced their engagement in May and have been together for four years. If the pair do walk down the aisle, it will be McCartney's third marriage. The Beatle first wed in 1969 and lived happily with his wife Linda until her death from breast cancer in 1998. Four years later, he married former model Heather Mills.

His marriage to Mills was pretty tumultuous. After the couple separated in the spring of 2006, Mills began airing their problems publicly and gave interviews blaming the breakdown of their union on Paul's award-winning fashion designer daughter Stella McCartney. Mills and Macca fought bitterly in court over money, property and custody of their daughter, Beatrice. The whole thing was pretty gross and unfortunate for everyone involved. If McCartney is indeed planning to marry Shevell this weekend, he is a brave man indeed … The Mills incident would have turned us off marriage entirely forever.

And while we're sure Paul isn't the kind of guy who jams to his own songs on a regular basis, The Beatles released some truly great wedding songs. From "Love Me Do" to "In My Life," there's something for everyone! Read More...

This week is a big one for followers of nude photo scandals. Not only did photos of Scarlett Johansson hit the web, but there are now rumors that sexy photos of her "What Goes Around" video co-star Justin Timberlake – taken on his "Friends With Benefits" co-star Mila Kunis' phone – are floating around the world somewhere. Justin connection aside, the most surprising part of this scandal is that these two ladies, both of whom tend to keep their private lives to themselves, are actually involved with a nude photo scandal to begin with.

Over the course of the new millennium, countless celebrities have been embroiled in sex scandals, some unsurprising and some very, very surprising, and most of which have no connection to Justin T whatsoever. So, which scandals really surprised us? Read More...

Kat Von D

It's been an interesting couple of weeks for Kat Von D. After announcing that she and Jesse James called off their engagement late last month, the tatted reality starlet and her man announced they have decided to give it another try. However, the news is a bit bittersweet since it comes the same day that word came down that her TLC reality show, "LA Ink," has been canceled. Wah wuh.

OK, as we learned on a certain beloved 1980's sitcom, "You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and what do you have? The facts of life." So, if you're feeling a bit low about being unemployed, snuggle up with Jesse James (we mean someone has to) and blast these tunes. They're guaranteed to make you feel a little better. Read More...

If you are anything like me, you couldn’t get enough of the star-studded supervideo for Best Coast’s “Our Deal.” Where else can you find “Arrested Development’s” Alia Shawkat and actor/comedian/rapper Donald Glover in a cleverly choreographed break-dancing gang war? Well for starters, in the extended version released today - and it does not disappoint.

Clocking in at ten minutes (a full six minutes longer than the original), the Drew Barrymore-directed video contains fresh dialogue from the convincingly fierce Shawkat, as well as a cutesy montage of “Teen Wolf’s” Tyler Posey and “Kick-Ass” star Chloe Moretz putting aside their differences in the name of infatuation ... err true love.

Also featured are extended scenes depicting Nickelodeon’s Miranda Cosgrove ("iCarly") being accosted by a rival graffiti gang and a short-but-humorous cameo from none other than Best Coast singer Bethany Cosentino, rolling dice in the street alongside Barrymore. And if that wasn’t enough, excerpts from additional Best Coast material have been added to story, which no doubt acts as a welcome plug for their debut album, Crazy For You.

Even the stars of the video are excited about the final result. “How cool is that supervideo!” exclaimed Tyler Posey. “I can’t stop watching it. Drew Barrymore is the coolest chick ever! Chloe Moretz is the coolest chick ever!”

Marc Mumford

By Zachary Swickey

Marcus Mumford might have more than his band Mumford & Sons' rising success to be thankful for in 2011, as the singer reportedly popped the question to his actress girlfriend, Carey Mulligan, over the weekend.

UK’s The Sun reports that Mumford asked his rumored bride-to-be while at the ritzy Babington House in Somerset, where she supposedly showed off her new bling to guests. “She was wearing a beautiful ring and didn’t seem to mind who saw it,” reported an onlooker.

Love has taken hold of the couple fast – the pair have only been dating for around five months. Carey – also a star on the rise with her Best Actress Oscar nom for "An Education" last year – had just broken things off with her old beau, Shia LaBeouf, a few months prior to meeting Mumford, who himself had just become single after breaking up with fellow folk singer Laura Marling.

There is much to be learned from the historical relationships between actors and musicians. Sometimes it’s a match made in heaven, other times it’s a countdown to extinction. Will it last between these lovebirds? Maybe … if they take our advice.

“Be Weary of the Wild”
Many ladies have an unforgiving fascination with bad boys (I’m looking at you, Heather Locklear and Denise Richards). These women can’t get enough of their boyfriend’s tattoos and piercings, but fail to realize the rock and roll beast is pretty tough to tame. Baywatch babes Pamela Anderson and Carmen Electra learned heartbreak the hard way when things didn’t work out with their lovers, Tommy Lee and Dave Navarro, respectfully. I mean, who could keep those two dues on marital lockdown?

“Separation of Spouse and Career”
Most couples like their personal space, while others would leap at the chance to work with their spouse on the daily. Well, when it comes to the marriage of an actor and a musician, we think it’s best to just do your own thing. Gwyneth Paltrow, despite having a decent voice and appearing on Glee, has never recorded a duet with her husband, Coldplay singer Chris Martin. Remember when J.Lo was Ben Affleck’s main squeeze and even appeared in her new music video? Yeah, things didn’t exactly work out for them, did they?

Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony

Late Friday afternoon, "American Idol" judge and resurgent songstress Jennifer Lopez and her husband, Latin pop superstar Marc Anthony, announced they were ending their 7-year marriage.

“We have decided to end our marriage," Lopez and Anthony said in a joint statement to People magazine. "This was a very difficult decision. We have come to an amicable conclusion on all matters. It is a painful time for all involved, and we appreciate the respect of our privacy at this time."

The split shocked many, as Lopez and Anthony have for years seemed the picture of wedded bliss. As surprising as the news itself was, the couple’s decision to announce their separation on a Friday afternoon is telling, according to former celebrity publicist and Huffington Post columnist Naughty But Nice Rob Shuter, who has worked with Lopez.

“That’s such a celebrity publicist trick, to dump bad news on a Friday. And it’s interesting that Nick [Lachey] and Vanessa [Manillo] dumped good news on a Friday too, that they were married. So it’s not even just bad news, it’s news you don’t want a lot of buzz about,” Rob says. “The silly thing about this is these rules were created in the old days of stars like Marilyn Monroe. These sorts of PR tricks were created a very long time ago, and now what’s happened is the media has changed so much. There wasn’t Internet, or digital media or social media back when these sorts of rules or tricks were created. In the last three to five years, social media has become so important that it really doesn’t matter what day, what time or what planet you announce it on, it’s going to be a big deal.”

Justin Timberlake

Nobody wants to be just a singer or actor anymore. You're nobody in this world until you have your own product line, whether it be swim suits, cologne, nightclubs, top-shelf liquor brands or energy drinks.

And while it makes perfect sense for a wildman rocker like Sammy Hagar to launch a line of high-end tequila, or for beatmeister Dr. Dre to launch a line of booming headphones and laptops, sometimes those celebrity/brand marriages are a bit murkier.

Case in point: the announcement this week that Justin Timberlake has bought a minority stake in once-hot social networking site Myspace and that he'll be taking on the role of creative visionary at the relaunched company, which was bought at a fire sale by a West Coast tech firm. Yes, Timberlake has proven to be a triple threat as actor, singer and label boss, not to mention a fashion maven with his William Rast clothing line.

That got us thinking about other male music stars who've made bold deals with companies that might have seemed bizarre at first, but turned out to be among the best moves they've ever made.

50 Cent and Vitaminwater: Laugh all you want, but 50 has been savvy all along about his non-music ventures. From his G-Unit sneakers and clothing line to various PlayStation games, book imprints and RGX Body Spray, 50 has always looked for new opportunities. None has paid off like his deal with Glaceau, which hooked up with the rapper for the Formula 50 supplement drink. When Coca-Cola purchased Glaceau for more than $4 billion in 2007, 50 was estimated to have earned more than $100 million on the deal.

Leo DiCaprio

By Stefan Doyno

What's crazier than Clint Eastwood directing a musical? Well, not much – except if in that same film, Leonardo DiCaprio co-starred opposite Beyonce. That would really get people talking.

Well, it might be happening. Eastwood and DiCaprio got along so well on the set of J. Edgar, the upcoming biopic of infamous FBI director J. Edgar Hoover, that DiCaprio is in discussions to join Eastwood’s remake of the musical A Star Is Born. Eastwood and DiCaprio are tremendously talented and Beyonce has since proven her acting chops with Dreamgirls and Cadillac Records, so maybe this will turn out to be really interesting.

Here are some other director-musician superstar pairings we'd like to see happen.

Martin Scorsese and Eminem

One word comes to mind: violence. These two could make a killing (pun intended) at the box office.
With Eminem's talent in both the music and acting fields (he was amazing in 8 Mile) and Scorsese's brutal direction, these two would definitely make an action-packed Oscar winner.

Steven Speilberg and Justin Bieber

Hello, an E.T. remake, anybody? Ok, maybe not, but there is something about this team that kind of screams blockbuster. All we need is an alien and we're good to go.

David Lynch and Lady Gaga

Just imagine what these two could throw together. On second thought, don’t even try; whatever it would be is probably unimaginable. Lynch and Gaga's strange and intriguing imaginations could create something beyond comprehension and truly mind-blowing. Everyone would go to see it … and then spend three days trying to understand it.
