The time has come!

Last week, we opened voting to find out which 2011 videos from fan-favorite artists Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Britney Spears, Beyonce and Chris Brown were your favorites of the year and after several thousand votes were cast, we have the results!

So which videos ruled the roost in 2011? Check 'em out below.

Katy Perry, "The One that Got Away"

Katy's most recent clip dominated the competition, taking 54.76 percent of the vote. "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" held it up in second with 30.73 percent while Katy's spring smash "E.T." nabbed only 14.51 percent of the vote (probably because the visual spectacle is further back in people's memories than her more recent vids).

We don't always love what he has to say, but Chris Brown can be counted on to deliver first-rate hip-hop and R&B. His 2011 album F.A.M.E. was no exception, launching four successful singles ("Look At Me Now," "Beautiful People," She Ain't You" and "Next to You").

Like the four other stars (Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Britney Spears and Beyonce) whose videos we showcased this week, Breezy had a humungous year. His gravity-defying, dance-centric performance at the MTV Video Music Awards in August landed him at number seven on our top ten list of the year's best live performances. His album F.A.M.E. debuted at the top of the charts in mid-March, marking his first number one record in the U.S., and he walked away with two VMA nominations, for Best Hip-Hop Video and Best Collaboration for "Look At Me Now."

So while "Look At Me Now" (above) is his most celebrated F.A.M.E. video, is it the fan-favorite? Check out the rest below and vote in our poll after the jump! Read More...

Justin Bieber

Circumstances, by their very nature, are rarely the same twice. I realize that. Yet, this morning, after watching Justin Bieber deftly and appropriately address the recent paternity suit filed against him, live on the "Today" show, with hundreds of fans surrounding him and millions more watching at home, I couldn't help but think about Chris Brown. And how, hopefully, he was taking notes.

You probably remember earlier this year, when Brown stopped by another morning show — in this case, ABC's "Good Morning America" — to promote his just-released F.A.M.E. album, and got (depending on your opinion of him) understandably or irrationally angered by host Robin Roberts' repeated questions about his 2009 assault of then-girlfriend Rihanna. And you probably remember everything that happened after that appearance, especially the parts where Brown allegedly broke a window in a dressing room and exited the "GMA" studios shirtless (and then played a pickup basketball game on West 4th Street). Needless to say, it wasn't a good look for Brown, a guy who has sort of turned the phrase into an art form. Read More...

Chris Brown

Beef alert!

During a recent “Ridiculist” segment on CNN’s “AC 360,” anchor Anderson Cooper, who is currently in Mogadishu, Somalia, reporting on the devastating famine in the African nation, tore into hip-hop star Chris Brown over his involvement in the adaptation of comedian Steve Harvey’s book, “Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man.”

“I, for one, cannot imagine why this did not happen sooner, because if there's one thing you can say about Chris Brown, who's currently on probation for viciously assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna, he just oozes romance,” Cooper said sarcastically.

The LA Times reports Cooper went on to bring up other incidents from Brown’s past, including reports of troubles on the set of a “Good Morning America” interview and Brown’s use of a gay slur. “He called a bunch of photographers 'gay' because he thought they called the police to give him a parking ticket,” Cooper deadpanned. “You know, just like in 'Sleepless in Seattle.’”

Brown, who apologized for his use of the slur as well as behavior on “GMA,” took to Twitter to respond. Read on to see what he said. Read More...

From MTV RapFix:

After R&B crooner Chris Brown made an appearance in front of a reported 18,000 fans on NBC morning program Today as part of its summer concert series this past Friday (July 15), rival network FOX News was critical of the station and singer based on Brown’s 2009 domestic dispute with his then-girlfriend, pop songstress Rihanna.

Over the weekend, FOX host Laura Ingraham in a clip offered quips on Brown’s turbulent past and saying that Americans were “disgusted” by his actions while criticizing his top billing on morning show's stages. Brown tweeted angrily in response to the report over the weekend.

“People really should grow up sometimes! I guess the next story they make up will say chris brown paid the fans to come! #stopit5 hahaha..,” Brown tweeted on Saturday (July 16). He followed that post with, “Running bogus and pointless stories don't matter! My fans prove that everyday and the haters just look old as F**k !”

Brown fired off a few more tweets before thanking his followers on Twitter for supporting him and giving a shout out to his “Team Breezy” fans. He also got some support from a famous friend. Find out who after the jump. Read More...

Chris Brown was expected to appear in court today in Los Angeles but ultimately didn't show, with his lawyer revealing that he's trying to get the case dismissed. Every media outlet in the greater L.A. area, however, did show up — though most of them had swine flu on the brain.

I arrived at the courthouse at 7:30 a.m. to cover Brown's court appearance, along with my camera guy Erick. We circled the building repeatedly, checking every possible entrance, but found no sign of Chris. Now, I find it difficult to form thoughts before my morning cup of coffee, so it took me awhile to realize there were no other press outlets there. Or protesters. Or even paparazzi! (And those guys always show up anywhere in L.A. a celeb might be.)

By this time, we got word that Brown wasn't coming, but I noticed several media trucks gathering at another courthouse. The first thought in my caffeine-free mind was: "Rihanna must be here!"

Chris Brown appeared in court today, but he has yet to enter a plea on the two felony counts of assault and making criminal threats, in connection with his alleged altercation with girlfriend Rihanna in early February.

So when will the R&B singer face the charges? He was granted a continuance in the case, and his arraignment has been pushed to April 6.

Kelly ClarksonBy Kathleen Newman-Bremang

U2 can now add having their very own street (temporarily) to their stacked list of accomplishments. MTV News was there when the rockers christened U2 Way in New York City.

Can't wait for Kelly Clarkson's new album to drop? If you didn't already check it out when the songs were leaked last month, MTV has the official preview of Kelly's highly anticipated comeback.

Usher has some words of advice for Chris Brown. From one R&B star to another, Usher says Brown should lay low and stay off the jet skis. Read More...

Britney SpearsBy Angelique Smith and Kathleen Newman-Bremang

In honor of Britney Spears' return to the road, MTV takes you all the way back to 2004, when Brit last set out on her Onyx Hotel Tour.

The Jonas Brothers' road to pop-culture domination hit a rough patch this weekend. The boys' "3D Concert Experience" underperformed at the box office. Looks like Nick, Joe and Kevin will just have to settle for selling out arenas instead of theatres.

Paramore's leading lady is still on the market. Contrary to reports by a Canadian blogger, Hayley Williams is not engaged to Chad from New Found Glory.

Chris Brown was photographed on a jet ski just three weeks after the alleged altercation between him and Rih Rih. If this was before the domestic-violence case, no eyebrows would be raised; now, however, it creates concern and raises many questions.

Beyoncé, R&B's reigning diva, finally opens up about life with Jay-Z. While in the public eye, she is all put-together, but she reveals her messy side — a side that Jay-Z actually gets bothered by.

Check out what Ne-Yo had to say about what went down between Rihanna and Chris Brown. Ne-Yo has worked with both musicians and said he's holding back from any judgment.

Did Beyoncé lip-synch at the Oscars? While host Hugh Jackman's breathing and laughter could be heard at times, B's vocals appeared to be mimed.

In the four years between Blink-182's hiatus and reunion, these guys didn't exactly sit on their hands. Take a look at what Mark, Tom and Travis have been up to since 2005. Read More...
