Lana Del Ray V Magazine

By Shakira Atitebi

Sexy singer Lana Del Rey, who appears in V Magazine's first-ever Music Issue, is on her way to becoming a superstar. Del Rey released her first EP, Kill Kill, in 2009 under the name Lizzy Grant (her real name is Elizabeth Grant), but things really took off after she posted a video to her song "Video Games" on YouTube in August 2011. The video has had over 10 million hits and went to number one on the charts in 9 countries, including Australia, the UK, Holland, France and Germany.

A lot has changed for this indie artist. The Lake Placid, New York, native is now recognized all over the world. "You talk about all these things that happened to me in this short space of time, but the one thing that has really changed is that I now have an audience," she tells V. "I turn up in Glasgow or Manchester or Amsterdam and there are good people waving at me from the crowd. That’s amazing.”

Del Rey appreciates her fans and the sacrifices they make just to see her, saying, "Someone showed me their ticket stub and asked me to sign it. You know how much it cost to see a show? These people really want to see me."

On Thursday, December 1, Del Rey's second official single, "Born to Die," was uploaded on YouTube and has already received a huge international response praising the song and Lana's voice. If you're in New York City, You can catch Del Ray tonight at the Bowery Ballroom.

The much-buzzed-about singer's album will be released January 31, 2012. For more on Del Rey, visit V Magazine online and check out the Music Issue on newsstands January 12. Check out more hot pics of the rising star after the jump. Read More...

Happy "Footloose" remake release day! The wait to cut loose with Kenny Wormald and Julianne Hough's new spin on the Kevin Bacon and Lori Singer-led original is over and to celebrate the occasion, we have a very special, exclusive treat for you in the form of the exclusive video premiere of rising star Ella Mae Bowen's version of "Holding Out For A Hero."

For those of us who grew up with the 1984 original, the film's iconic soundtrack is just as memorable as the film, particularly Bonnie Tyler's inimitable power anthem. That said, Bowen's stripped-down, heartfelt version is so beautiful and brilliant, we're betting that even Tyler would approve. Check out Bowen's debut video below, followed by our interview with the talented 15-year-old (yes, she's only 15!) herself.

On an otherwise hot and sunny Memorial Day weekend in Las Vegas, an abnormal cold front made its way into the mix, leaving Tao Beach party-goers to seek shelter in their cabanas. Chilly, half naked bodies snuggled up under towels leaving the super posh party spot looking more like a ski lodge than one of the hottest poolside destinations in Sin City.

It was uncertain where the day would go from there but those in attendance were eagerly awaiting the upcoming set by Dragan Roganovi?, better known by his DJ moniker Dirty South. In a seemingly divine act straight from the pages of the biblical texts, the moment Dirty South hit the decks, the clouds parted, the wind subsided and the sun finally came out. Over the next two hours, Dragan’s killer set heated the bikini-clad crowd up to a proper Las Vegas temperature.

It’s safe to say this was one of our favorite sets of the weekend, and if it’s anything like his upcoming Strictly Rhythm compilation Strictly Dirty South, we’ll definitely be picking up a copy. After his set, Dragan was kind enough to sit down and chat in depth about Strictly Dirty South and what to expect.

We may have witnessed the first-ever recorded instance of a musician taking wardrobe hints from a leprechaun when we hit the set of All Time Low's video for "Poppin' Champagne" last week. When frontman Alex Gaskarth saw the green-and-gold suit, complete with buckled shoes and a tiny hat, he remarked, "Hey! We should have gotten me fitted for a matching one!"

In addition to the leprechauns, we also saw zoot suits, ferrets and booty dancing on the set at New York's Touch nightclub. For anyone who's followed the band, it was business as usual, but it was, of course, just that — business. No, the life of a music-video extra is not a glamorous one.

(After the jump, check out my exclusive footage of bassist Zack Merrick!)

Word has spread quickly through the Newsroom about the alleged Lindsay Lohan sex-tape, of which certain websites of ill repute have alleged still images of her alleged sexual conduct with alleged former beau Calum Best (let's just say that in one of the stills, Mr. Best is probably a fan of the new Three 6 Mafia single, "I'd Rather"). We will not post those stills here for obvious reasons but this follows a week in which other lascivious visual images of certain female celebrities, both new ones and marginal ones, have escaped into the public void: Audrina Patridge, Ashley Alexandra Dupre, et al.

All we can say is, more please. Seriously, if you're going to be foolish enough to be a public figure making videotapes, then we are going to be only more than happy to indulge in such voyeurism. Plus, we think it's kinda hot.

Meanwhile, on the other end of the image rehabilitation spectrum, we have Mariah Carey. She is appearing in a Macy's commercial with the guitarist Santana, Donald Trump and Martha Stewart, that will run in both English and Spanish starting this weekend. The spots were directed by Barry Levinson. (It is like someone took a bunch of names at random, jumbled them together and came up with this entry). Anyway, WE HAVE THE FIRST LOOK AT THAT COMMERCIAL RIGHT NOW.

You know all those rumors about Paramore calling it quits? (You don't? Why, here's a quick primer.) Well, it turns out they're not true. NOT TRUE!

How do we know? Because we have in our possession super-secret footage taken from the set of the band's new video, for the song "That's What You Get." It's a little grainy, because -- in keeping with all super-secret footage -- it was shot from behind a stack of crates in a warehouse down by the docks,* but it clearly shows all four members of Paramore rocking out under the tutelage of director Marcos Siega (Blink-182's "All The Small Things," Weezer's "Beverly Hills,") and looking pretty happy doing it.

And if you don't believe us, here … check it out for yourselves.

Okay, okay, it bears mentioning here that late last month, Paramore's labels, Atlantic/Fueled By Ramen, initially invited MTV News to head down to Nashville (where the clip was shot) and talk to the band on the set, but that offer was quickly rescinded when all the breakup rumors started swirling...so all might not be as rosy as it appears in the above clip. But fear not, we're scheduled to interview Paramore later this week at SXSW, so we'll have all the news, straight from the band themselves (or frontwoman Hayley Williams, since she's the only one who speaks). Stay tuned.

*Note: This may not actually be true.
