Bieber

By Meredith Goldberg-Morse

Justin Bieber's new album, Believe, may not drop until June 19, but those of you jonesing for a taste of the teen idol's new tunes are in luck — snippets of Biebs’ new album have made their way online.

Previewed tracks include R&B-inspired slow jam "Right Here" featuring Drake and the Nicki Minaj collaboration "Beauty and the Beat." The sampler also includes a teaser of "Maria," which is reportedly the Canadian croonster’s musical response to the false accusations made by Mariah Yeater last year that he was the father of her child. The song, which Bieber compares to the similarly-themed Michael Jackson classic "Billie Jean," will only appear on the deluxe addition of Believe.

Bieber’s next single, "As Long As You Love Me," drops in full today on iTunes. The pop star has been hitting Twitter all day with hourly reminders that his collaboration with Big Sean will be available at 3 p.m. EST.

The album’s first single, popular ode to fondue and swag “Boyfriend,” has already garnered the singer comparisons to another famous Justin.

If the Believe sampler is any indication, be forewarned — there may be a severe increase in hot and bothered teenage girls swarming record stores (and internet fansites) come June 19.

Check out Bieber's mentor Usher talking about whether he and the 18-year-old are in a friendly competition for record sales (Usher's Looking 4 Myself drops tomorrow) below.

Never one to hold her tongue, Pink lit into Chris Brown during last night Billboard Music Awards, accusing the hip-hop star of lip synching his dance-heavy performance of "Turn Up the Music."

"One day if I lip-sync, I hope I do it as well as him," the 32-year-old singer tweeted during the show.

To be fair, she was far from the only one – our Twitter feed lit up with the accusation during the show, which also featured performances from Katy Perry, Usher and Jordin Sparks, who remembered her "Sparkle" co-star Whitney Houston with a stirring rendition of her signature "I Will Always Love You."

Pink had far kinder words for two of the night's other major performances, lavishing praise on both Carrie Underwood and Justin Bieber. Of Underwood, Pink tweeted, "Sing that song woman. Ms Underwood sounds lovely."

She also gave props to Bieber, saying, "I like this boyfriend song.... I also would really like one of those glow in the dark dancer outfits!!! Hawt."

Justin Bieber

Big news! While NBC has not officially announced it, it appears that teen pop superstar Justin Bieber may be hosting "Saturday Night Live" sometime in 2012.

The buzz comes courtesy of frequent "SNL" host and "30 Rock" star Alec Baldwin, who during a Monday broadcast of his WNYC podcast "Here's the Thing" interviewed "SNL" executive producer Lorne Michaels. During the chat, Baldwin begins to read from the "legendary cork board" in Michaels' office that includes the roster of confirmed hosts for the show and in so doing inadvertently announced that Bieber may host the show and act as its musical guest.

"The biggest names in the business are coming here thirty-something years [after 'SNL''s debut] to host the show," Baldwin says (via The Huffington Post). "Ben Stiller, Melissa McCarthy, [who] won the Emmy award, and Katy Perry's coming and Jimmy Fallon, who's double-dipping on your payroll, Jonah Hill, and I don't want to ruin any other names, [but] Bieber's confirmed, he's the music and the [host]."

Interesting!

While he's never hosted the show, Bieber was featured as the musical guest during an April 2010 episode hosted by Tina Fey and appeared in a few sketches.

UPDATE: A source close to the show tells MTV News that Jonah Hill is confirmed for the show, but no word yet on whether or not Bieber will stop by.

Are you psyched for Bieber to maybe host 'SNL'? Let us know in the comments below

Katy Perry Tells Everyone To Step Off

Katy Perry's divorce drama intensified when her parents began speaking to the media and as usually Katy used Twitter as a way to silence the rumors.

Get More: Music News

In the new issue of V magazine, Justin Bieber not only opens up about his views on God and religion but also talks a bit about the image he hopes to portray in his music.

"I'm not going to try to conform to what people want me to be or go out there and start partying, have people see me with alcohol. I want to do it at my own pace," Bieber says in the issue, which he also graces the cover of (via Usmagazine.com). "I don't want to start singing about things like sex, drugs and swearing. I'm into love, and maybe I'll get more into making love when I'm older. But I want to be someone who is respected by everybody."

Bieber goes on to wax philosophical a bit more about his career and thankfully less about “making love.” (He is like a little brother to us!) "I want to be successful and be great at what I do. But eventually, I want to become the best at what I do," Bieber tells V. "I want to be better than anybody who's ever done it. And in order to do that, I need to strive to be the best, be good to people and treat people with respect, and work as hard as I can. Because for me, I work so hard and this consumes my life – it's not worth it if I'm not the best." Read More...

Dianne Warren

By Kara Warner

If you think you haven't heard of Diane Warren, you've definitely heard a dozen or so of her chart-topping, award-winning songs. The prolific songwriter has written songs for Celine Dion, Elton John, LeAnn Rimes, Mary J. Blige, Toni Braxton and most recently Cher, Justin Bieber and Beyonce. She is a double Grammy nominee this year for "You Haven’t Seen The Last of Me" from "Burlesque" and "Born to Be Somebody" from "Never Say Never" in the category of Best Song Written For Visual Media.

MTV News was lucky enough to catch up with Warren recently to talk about the stories behind her nominated songs for Cher and Justin Bieber, as well as some inside scoop about how "I Was Here" almost didn't make it on Beyonce's 4 album.

MTV News: Congratulations on your two Grammy nominations!

Diane Warren: Thank you. It is nice to be nominated, but I always lose [laughs]. I’ve never been up against myself and I’ve never had two songs in the same category. I’m happy to have had one. It’s pretty cool. I’ve been telling as many people as I can, "You have two choices guys!" It’s amazing, there’s almost a 50 year age difference between [Cher and Bieber]. It’s like, "Alright that’s diversity."

So who took it? Well, Biebs and Selena scored 41.76 percent of the vote leaving recent birthday girl Britney Spears and new fiance Jason Trawick with a winning 50.22 percent.

For our favorite celebrities, the red carpet is the place to make a big statement. From outrageous fashion to borderline crazy antics, it all happens on the way into an event.

Check out MTV News' Most-Memorable Red Carpet Moments!

But who really brought their A-game to the carpet in 2011? Well, Lady Gaga for one. People will be talking for years to come about her arrival at this year’s Grammy Awards. No, she didn’t have on another meat dress. She arrived in an egg, silly! It had something to do with being in gestational creative state or something. Some thought it was pretty awesome, others considered it just plain weird. Love it or hate it, if you were watching, you won’t soon forget it!

Also causing a stir at the Grammy was our girl Snooki, who co-hosted MTV’s coverage with Sway Calloway. But the real buzz came from MTV’s own red carpets. At the Movie Awards, “Twilight” starlet Nikki Reed announced her engagement to “American Idol” finalist Paul McDonald (the pair wed in October). And at the VMAs, Justin Bieber introduced us to his snake, Johnson. His pet snake, a baby boa constrictor, just to be clear.

Then there was Beyonce. Oh, Queen Bey! Without warning the R&B superstar, who was one of MTV News' Top Newsmakers of 2011, showed up on the VMA red carpet in a striking orange Lanvin dress, and though she didn’t talk to the press, she caressed her belly in a way that pretty much said it all!

Which red carpet moment was tops in 2011? Let us know by voting in our poll after the jump! Read More...

Justin Bieber

Short and shaggy manes are in and we can all thank Justin Bieber and Emma Watson.

This according to the Wall Street Journal, which reports, “The fastest-rising searches for celebrity haircuts on Google are for Ms. Watson and Mr. Bieber.”

Pixie cuts haven’t been truly popular since the ‘90s (apparently? Quick, someone tell every thirtysomething mother at the supermarket), but leave it to the endlessly trendy “Harry Potter” starlet to bring the style back into vogue. After wrapping the final “Potter” flick, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2” (which made MTV’s list of the Top Newsmakers of 2011), Watson chopped off her long, curly locks in a concrete display that she was leaving Hermoine Granger in the past and moving on into adulthood.

As for the “Bieber swish,” as the Journal hilariously calls it, well, you probably don’t even have to look out your front door to see one of those if you have a teenage son. The side-swept style popularized by the “Mistletoe” singer is everywhere … even though he has stopped sporting the famous cut himself.

Check out Watson’s pixie chic style as MTV News' own Josh Horowitz teaches the cast of "Harry Potter" a little "American Talk," after the jump! Read More...
