By now, it’s really not that surprising to find Lady Gaga making the Top 10 of some list magazines always come up with: She was the top artist in Time’s 100 Most Influential People in the World in 2010, No. 1 in Forbes annual list of the 100 most powerful celebrities in the world, and, once again, No. 1 in DoSomething’s "Celebs Gone Good" list for her strong advocacy for social causes. But the latest list that Gaga makes is a little more unexpected: The 25-year-old is No. 9 in Vanity Fair's 2011 New Establishment list.

According to a press release from the esteemed magazine, the New Establishment list represents an "innovative new breed of buccaneering visionaries, engineering prodigies and entrepreneurs, who quite often sport hoodies, floppy hair and backpacks.” Gaga sporting a hoodie and a backpack? Wash your mouth out! Actually, Gaga joins the much-more-likely-to-be-wearing-hoodies billionaires Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook and Jack Dorsey of Twitter on the list because of her budding entrepreneurial efforts in the world of technology.

Yes, somehow despite her busy schedule of being an international pop superstar and fashion icon, Gaga manages to squeeze some time in her day to do business. Gaga the businesswoman (Boss Monster?) has no less than four concurrent business deals: She’s an investor in Blackplane, a social network for celebrities, creative director of Polaroid, and has partnered with Zynga to create a “GagaVille” videogame and with Monster to produce her own line of to-die-for headphones that were showcased in the "Bad Romance" video. To sum up: Gaga rules us all. Read More...

Justin Timberlake

Anyone looking for Justin Timberlake’s newest music venture has to look no further than his latest tweet. While he sadly isn’t bringing sexy back just yet, JT may be starting a new fashion trend – hoodies and hats – with the latest video from FreeSol, one of the acts signed to his Tennman Records.

Justin, who formed Tennman Records with Interscope in 2007, has signed a few lucky musicians such as Esmee Denters and Matt Morris and just directed FreeSol’s music video for “Hoodies On, Hats Low.” Basically, he’s just letting the world know how talented he is not only at singing and dancing himself, but at spotting and helping promote other artists. Want to know more about who Justin’s signed and what they’re doing? Let’s take a look.

Matt Morris
You may recognize Matt Morris from Justin’s “Hope for Haiti Now” performance of “Hallelujah.” That sexy voice singing harmony and strumming the guitar? Yep, that was Matt. But that wasn’t their first time performing together. When they were kids, Matt and Justin met in the “Mickey Mouse Club.” (Come on! Britney, Christina, Justin – who WASN’T in this club?!) While Justin went on to pursue pop teenage stardom, Matt opted for a more low-key upbringing. But his love for singing didn’t stop and once Justin formed Tennman Records, Matt was one of the first people Justin looked to sign. With credentials like co-writing songs for Christina Aguilera and Kelly Clarkson and a voice that will blow you away, it’s no surprise people love Matt. His debut album, When Everything Breaks Open, was released in January 2010. Since then, Matt has just been doing what he loves most: performing. Check out his Facebook to see where you can catch him next!

From MTV RapFix:

Late night host Jimmy Fallon and singer-turned-top billed actor Justin Timberlake already thrilled fans of NBC's “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” with their first rendition of the “History Of Rap” backed by the Philadelphia Hip Hop house band The Roots back in September, with the video going viral on the Internet. The pair joined forces again last night with a new version of the famous rap songs mash-up, “History of Rap 2” – and according to many happy fans around the Web, it appears the fellas have another smash clip on their hands.

Opening with a brief cover of Kurtis Blow’s infamous “The Breaks” track, the pair ripped through classics from everyone to Rob Base and DJ EZ Rock, Vanilla Ice, N.W.A., Public Enemy, Black Sheep, Salt-N-Pepa, and even 50 Cent before ending with a crowd-rocking version of Biz Markie’s “Just A Friend” with the studio audience joining in. On Twitter, the video of Fallon and Timberlake running through a bevy of hip hop’s best has been posted numerous times since the wee hours of the morning with nearly nothing but positive comments.

Lady Gaga and Kanye West have been the dominating forces in the music world for the last few years, but one ultimate pop star has notably been absent: Justin Timberlake. But is all that about to change?

For years, Justin has regularly downplayed his return to the studio or stage. but in February, he teased bringing sexy back yet again, stating he might return to the studio this summer. Now, thanks to a charity auction listing, it appears we may have evidence of a potential 2012 tour.

The prize, as listed on Charity Buzz, is as follows:

“Attend one of Justin Timberlake’s 2012 concerts with 2 VIP tickets to the concert of your choice in industry seating followed by a meet and greet with the legendary, artist, actor, and entrepreneur.”

The terms of the auction mention that tour dates have not been announced (clearly), but the item was donated by Timberlake himself to benefit the Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation, which was founded by Joseph “Rev Run” Simmons, Russell Simmons and Danny Simmons to help disadvantaged urban youth through the arts.

The Emmy nominations came out today and were full of the usual suspects. Mad Men ruled. The entire cast of Modern Family scored deserved acting nominations. Glee got nominated for Best Comedy despite having an uneven-at-best year.

There were some cool sorta surprises too. Game of Thrones found its way into the Best Drama Series category. So did the sadly under-watched Friday Night Lights. Perhaps most awesome of all is Louis C.K.’s Best Actor nomination for Louie.

But wait, who’s that, off there in the Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Special category? It’s Lady Gaga for her The Monster Ball Tour: At Madison Square Garden HBO special. We’d recognize that wig anywhere!

Gaga wasn’t the only Grammy winner to score an Emmy nod today. Justin Timberlake snagged another nom for hosting Saturday Night Live. The erstwhile singer already has television’s highest honor in his stacked trophy case, having won the Emmy for hosting SNL back in 2009.

That means Justin, at just 30 years old, already has two of the four awards that combine to create the entertainment industry’s highest achievement: EGOT. That’s Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony, the annual major awards for television, music, film and theater, respectively.

It’s clear Gaga and JT have that special something that defies the restrictions of their mediums. Some performers are perfect for TV but can’t carry a film to save their lives. There are musicians who should never step in front of a camera (see: Spears, Britney, Crossroads). Then there’s JT, who came this close to an Oscar nomination for the much-awarded The Social Network, and Gaga, who took to the stage early with lead roles in school productions of Guys and Dolls and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.

Only twelve people, including Barbra Streisand, Liza Minelli, Whoopi Goldberg and Audrey Hepburn, have ever captured all four awards. Could Justin and Mother Monster join their esteemed ranks? Read More...

Nobody wants to be just a singer or actor anymore. You're nobody in this world until you have your own product line, whether it be swim suits, cologne, nightclubs, top-shelf liquor brands or energy drinks.

And while it makes perfect sense for a wildman rocker like Sammy Hagar to launch a line of high-end tequila, or for beatmeister Dr. Dre to launch a line of booming headphones and laptops, sometimes those celebrity/brand marriages are a bit murkier.

Case in point: the announcement this week that Justin Timberlake has bought a minority stake in once-hot social networking site Myspace and that he'll be taking on the role of creative visionary at the relaunched company, which was bought at a fire sale by a West Coast tech firm. Yes, Timberlake has proven to be a triple threat as actor, singer and label boss, not to mention a fashion maven with his William Rast clothing line.

That got us thinking about other male music stars who've made bold deals with companies that might have seemed bizarre at first, but turned out to be among the best moves they've ever made.

50 Cent and Vitaminwater: Laugh all you want, but 50 has been savvy all along about his non-music ventures. From his G-Unit sneakers and clothing line to various PlayStation games, book imprints and RGX Body Spray, 50 has always looked for new opportunities. None has paid off like his deal with Glaceau, which hooked up with the rapper for the Formula 50 supplement drink. When Coca-Cola purchased Glaceau for more than $4 billion in 2007, 50 was estimated to have earned more than $100 million on the deal.

Justin Timberlake, who was once known primarily as a singer (in case you forgot), announced yesterday that he is taking an ownership stake in Myspace. The amount of Timberlake's investment was not disclosed. Myspace itself was sold by News Corp. to Specific Media this week for $35 million in cash and equity.

Timberlake will reportedly assume the role of creative director for the site and already has big plans. "There's a need for a place where fans can go to interact with their favorite entertainers, listen to music, watch videos, share and discover cool stuff and just connect," Timberlake said in a statement. "MySpace has the potential to be that place. ... Art is inspired by people and vice versa, so there's a natural social component to entertainment. I'm excited to help revitalize MySpace by using its social media platform to bring artists and fans together in one community."

The singer-actor’s latest venture adds to the lengthy list of side businesses He Who Brought Sexy Back balances with his career as an entertainer. From restaurants and clothing lines to booze and now social media, there’s nothing this guy can’t do. Read More...

Judging by the sexed-up trailer to 'Friends with Benefits,' Justin Timberlake doesn't hold a lot back. He continues that trend when sitting down with Playboy for a revealing interview. Timberlake's candid details would probably have gotten him kicked out of the Mickey Mouse Club, including details that he kicks back with pot every once in a while. Timberlake doesn't shy away from the question when asked if he smokes. "Absolutely," he says.

Our friends at MTV Buzzworthy sent us their 10 favorite reveals from the interview, on newsstands now.

1. On managing personalities: "Some people are just better high."

2. On marijuana: "The only thing pot does for me is it gets me to stop thinking."

3. On his need to chill: "I feel I'm just getting to a point in my life where I'm looking around, going, There's a lot to enjoy if I can just sit still, actually stop and take more time."

4. On how he chooses his friends and relationships: "You probably gravitate toward people who understand your scenario."

5. On sex scenes with the stunning Mila Kunis:
"I'd be lying if I said it wasn't completely awkward. I couldn't tell you the number of people in the crew watching me and my bare a**, but it was a lot."

6. On real-life "special friend" scenarios: "As corny as it sounds, the 'friends' part counts just as much as the 'benefits' part, if not more."

7. On when you can expect a new Justin Timberlake album: "Music is not my focus right now. It may be someday. It could happen next month or next year, but right now it's not where it's at for me."

8. On "Jersey Shore": "Awkward in an awesome way. I've never seen the show, but I met them backstage at the MTV awards and they were this fearsome group, storming around the hallway. That looked pretty awesome."

9. On Old Britney vs. New Britney: "In Britney's defense, if you pulled up a video I did from 2003, I
couldn't do the s*** I did then either."

10. On the music on his iPod: "Radiohead has the ability to make you feel you're cramped up in a closet and then, all of a sudden, you burst out into an open wheat field and everything turns sepia or something."

Justin Timberlake isn't a stranger to the basketball court. Remember the days when he would do charity basketball games alongside Britney Spears?

Justin, who has spent many an evening at a Lakers game, has been tapped to narrate the NBA Entertainment doc "Dream Season: 23 & 24," presented by Nike and highlighting Kobe Bryant's and LeBron James' pursuit of this year's championship, and intensifying the hoops debate of "Who's better?" according to the press release.

Timberlake, who is referred to as the "King of Pop" in the release (if they say so — we're not sure how Michael Jackson feels about that), will narrate the doc about the "Kings of the Court."

In the past, Denzel Washington, Forest Whitaker, Terrence Howard, Djimon Hounsou and Chris Rock have narrated basketball specials. Justin's special airs tomorrow night at 7 p.m.

Justin hosted the ESPY Awards for the channel last year. "I am starstruck. I mean, I grew up such a sports nut, and I'm still such a sports nut," he said. "If we would have had a conversation when I was 14 years old, I mean, you could not convince me that I was not going to play in the NBA."
