Little Monsters are excited to hear what Lady Gaga's big announcement is going to be tonight. They know that she's going to perform at the 2011 Video Music Awards, but they don't know what else she could possibly be sharing when she sits down with Sway for "MTV First: Lady Gaga," where she'll also open up about her just released "Yoü And I" clip.

And until she makes her big announcement, her fans are celebrating the clip. Danny said that he loves Gaga so much because "she's unique, she's special, she's crazy," adding that the standout moment from "Yoü And I" is "her as a mermaid, Yuyi, cause she looks beautiful."

Meanwhile Pedro complimented her revolutionary spirit, saying, "She's not afraid to change music." For him, seeing Gaga wearing little makeup playing the piano stands out as a key scene: "She played the piano. She just looked really bare to me and it looked really unique."

Anne Marie noted that in the video "she showed many sides of her … it was great the whole thing." She added that she loves Mother Monster so much because "she fights for what she believes in and what she wants. She doesn’t back down for anybody."

Christian agreed that it's her fighting spirit that makes her stand out and while many are applauding the Yuyi appearance in the video, it's another Gaga alter ego he's into. "Jo Calderone, ‘cause he was such a different character and you wouldn't expect that from her," he said. Read More...

Lady Gaga isn't afraid to share the spotlight with anyone. She's already done it with Beyonce and Elton John, to name a few. But this fall her collabo quotient is getting a new boost thanks to some super high-profile projects waiting in the wings.

Gaga has hooked up with crooning legend Tony Bennett on his forthcoming Duets II album. She'll appear on a cover of the Frank Sinatra classic "The Lady is a Tramp." Bennett doesn't think Gaga is going anywhere anytime soon, saying, "I never met a more talented person in my life ... I think she's going to become as big as Elvis Presley."

The world may stop for a second in September when Cher drops her duet with the singer, the aptly titled "The Greatest Thing.” Gaga and Cher have quite a history together. At the 2010 VMAs, it was Cher (who at 64 strutted out on stage in her “If I Could Turn Back Time” bodysuit) who handed a meat dress-wearing Gaga the VMA for Video of the Year for “Bad Romance.” Read More...

From MTV Buzzworthy:

Fresh off the Noritaka Tatehana heels of today's big news that Lady Gaga will be performing live at the 2011 MTV VMAs comes three brand-new Lady Gaga VMA promo videos.

In her 2011 MTV VMA promo videos, we see Lady Gaga behind the piano singing her latest single "You And I." This time, however, Gaga and a jazz quartet, set in black and white, rearrange the song into a jazzy, beat-era torch song, followed by Gaga seductively removing her bra, turning "You And I" into a coquettish, near-burlesque strip tease, ending with Gaga posing in what almost feels like a reference to the classic 1988 L'Instant Taittinger Champagne ad.

Check out another promo after the jump, and get the full story at Buzzworthy. Read More...

In last week’s installment of “Bigger Than The Buzz,” MTV’s foremost pop culture connoisseurs, Tamar Anitai of Buzzworthy and MTV News’ own James Montgomery, discussed the breakout bands and artists of the summer of 2011.

This time around, the dynamic duo are taking on Lady Gaga’s manly alter ego, Jo Calderone, as well as the buzz around her latest single “You and I.” Tamar and James also reveal some behind-the-scenes MTV dirt about Evanescence (hint: they are the nicest band ever) and get to the root of the suddenly resurgent Steve Urkel.

Most musicians shudder at the thought of picking a favorite album or song of their own – it’s like a parent being asked to pick a favorite child – but not the reigning Queen of Pop Lady Gaga. When Popdust asked the singer which of her own songs was her favorite, she had no problem offering up an answer.

“Well, ‘Bad Romance’ has a special place in my heart because it meant a lot to the Little Monsters when it came out. I also think ‘You and I’ is one of the best songs I’ve ever written.”

Though she has no problem acknowledging “Bad Romance” as her current crowning achievement, Gaga does have trouble coming up with a third favorite track.

“But the third song … [long pause],” she started. Read More...

Lady Gaga's support of sophomore effort "Born This Way" has been unprecedented. She's rolled out several singles, high profile videos and multiple high profile interviews (including our own amazing special "Inside the Outside"), all in the interest of rewarding her Little Monsters with more access while also expanding her fan base. But could it be that the most crucial 5 minutes for gaining new fans came sitting behind a piano solo in front of Howard Stern pounding out "The Edge of Glory"? My unofficial survey says "yes."

Since her appearance on the show July 17, I've spoken with various pockets of people across all demographics who would not consider themselves Lady Gaga fans. Upon hearing her naked version of "Edge of Glory," they have been left stunned and converted. All have said the same combination of things: "I had no idea she could sing like that." "She is the real deal." "Wow!" Read More...

Music videos can thrill, shock, confound and elate, but when they weave in a serious message they can also make a difference and teach us a little something. That's why MTV is proud to introduce a new category at this year's 2011 Video Music Awards, Best Video With a Message, which will spotlight clips from Lady Gaga, Pink, Katy Perry, Eminem, Taylor Swift and Rise Against that have a pro-social message.

The new category spotlights the intersection of music and social activism, highlighting artists who've made videos with positive messages that raise awareness of some of the most pressing issues facing today's youth, from bullying and LGBT discrimination to domestic violence and self-image struggles.

“During the past year, we’ve seen a remarkable number of artists create music videos that went above and beyond simply offering entertainment value,” said MTV President Stephen Friedman. “Instead, these artists used their influence and voices to explore deeply personal experiences and issues they were passionate about to create meaningful music that resonated with millions inspiring life anthems for their fans.”

Each clip nominated for Best Video with a Message will be accompanied by some action steps from MTV Act – MTV’s online platform designed to amplify youth efforts to make things better – where the MTV audience can learn more about and take action on the issue addressed.

Lady Gaga is letting fans into her world. The singer is set to release a photo book, giving her Little Monsters an intimate peek into the behind-the-scenes life of Mother Monster. Shot by Terry Richardson, the book will hit shelves in November.

Terry got an all-access pass to the superstar, meaning we might get to see Gaga acting more like Stefani Germanotta than the larger-than-life Lady Gaga. And, with that in mind, here are five regular people things we want to see Gaga doing in this book. Read More...
