Lindsay Lohan

Everybody has an opinion about Lindsay Lohan.

Most people have negative feelings about the once-promising actress, bemoaning her wasted talent, how tiresome the media's blanket coverage of her continuous troubles has become and her apparent disregard for the orders of the court. (This would all be over if you'd just do your damn community service, Lindsay! Shut up and get to the morgue; someone's gotta scrub those floors and a judge determined that that person is you whether you like it or not.)

Anyway, something else has recently come to light regarding Lohan that is probably going to make people even more angry – her never-ending court saga has likely cost California taxpayers millions, according to a report from FOX News.

"From logistics to the transcript reporters to the clerks, it is exorbitantly expensive to have a court appearance. It is important we understand what a waste of time this is,” former federal prosecutor Michael Wildes of Wildes & Weinberg tells FOX. “It costs tens of thousands of dollars per court appearance for all the clerks, the security, and those court reporters who get paid by the page, not to mention all the collateral support for something like this. Plus it diverts the administration of justice for other matters."

If Wildes' estimate is true – that the combined cost of staffing and securing each appearance costs many thousand dollars – it should be multiplied by 20, which is how many court appearances Lohan has made since her first arrest in 2007 for drunk driving. That adds up to a whole lot of cash. Read More...

Hilary Duff

Back in the early part of this millennium, there was a love triangle between three of the tween world's biggest stars – Hilary Duff, Lindsay Lohan and Aaron Carter. That's right, long before they grew up (and Duff announced her pregnancy over the weekend) and the world took them in very different directions, teen dreams LiLo and Duff were once in a bit of a heated feud over the affections of Backstreet brother Carter.

Duff and Carter began dating back in 2001. They met on the set of her hit Disney series, "Lizzie McGuire." Things were going great for the two … until flame-haired love sorceress (and then-major movie star) Lindsay Lohan came along. Carter reportedly cheated with Lohan while still with Duff and eventually it all came crashing down in a very public way.

At the time, it seemed they all had a pretty good shot at making the transition from teen star to adult superstar. But a decade later, things turned out … um, different. If someone had told us then that Duff would go on to best Lohan in not only the boy department but also with her career and image, we would have been a little surprised. OK, so Duff was kind of the Miley Cyrus of her day, but Lohan showed so much promise that nothing seemed like it could knock her off her Hollywood trajectory. As for Carter, well that's a whole other story. Read More...

Beyonce

By Morgan Schwartz

Father knows best. Or at least that’s what celebrities sometimes tell themselves when hiring one or more of their parents to help out with their careers. But does being a good mom or dad necessarily translate into being a stellar manager?

Beyonce is just the most recent star to experience some of the trauma that comes along with hiring a parent to help shape a career. Bey, who made it big with Destiny’s Child before branching off and becoming a superstar solo artist, enlisted the help of both her mom and her dad from the start. Mom Tina took on the role of “stylist,” while dad Matthew stepped in as her manager. While things were seemingly going well, it was announced in March that Beyonce and her dad had “parted ways amicably” (she continues to work with her mother). Now, speculation has surfaced that the separation may not have been as friendly as previously reported.

Although we can’t really speak to the situation – neither Beyonce’s camp nor Live Nation are commenting – it has given us inspiration to look back at other celebrity/parent working relationships to help us decide whether or not hiring a family member is a good or bad idea in showbiz.

Lindsay Lohan

Let’s start with Lindsay Lohan. It’s no secret that drama follows this girl wherever she goes, so it should come as no surprise that her working relationship with her mom Dina is known to be somewhat of a disaster. Dina has worked as Lindsay’s manager despite constant criticism about the way she interacts with her eldest daughter. The Long Island native was known to constantly party with Lindsay, speak publicly about LiLo without her permission, and act as an enabler for the bad behavior we know Lindsay loves to get up to. Lindsay’s dad is also notorious for riding on his daughter’s coattails and making statement after statement about her wrecked reputation. Although never officially employed by Lindsay, Michael Lohan has managed to impact her career (probably for the worse).

Read on for our verdict on Lindsay’s working relationship with her parents as well as our thoughts on the Kardashians, the Simpsons and Britney Spears. Read More...

PEEPSHOWYou've seen the Spice Girls' Melanie Brown and soap star Kelly Monaco do the rumba and the samba on "Dancing With the Stars," but you probably haven't seen them dance like this yet.

The two stars have teamed up to headline "Peepshow," a modern burlesque show set to open at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. Mel B plays the mistress of ceremonies, the Peep Diva, while Monaco is Bo Peep, the Diva's timid protégé.

They were joined at the show's opening-night party last night by none other than Linday Lohan, who may be back to her hard-partying ways after her breakup from Sam Ronson. Could LiLo be interested in guest-starring in the show too? Read More...

Lindsay Lohan used to be a megastar in the making with gorgeous red hair, a face full of adorable freckles and a winning smile. Like in 2004's "Mean Girls" or 2005's "Herbie: Fully Loaded."

Then, for a while, she had blond hair and got scary skinny and was clearly having a lot of fun and not taking great care of herself. Then she made some bad movies and wasn't as big a star anymore. She got arrested for a DUI, providing the Internet with a really great mugshot. So she want to rehab and threw a in Las Vegas party when she got out. She didnt look healthy. I wanted to buy her a double-stack at Subway and make her take a nap for a while.

She started "hanging out" with Samantha Ronson and really looked great.

Well not to get all superficial, but I think it's time to worry again. Last night, she came out of post-breakup seclusion for an Armani Exchange event. Her eyes are glassy and tired looking. Her arms are skinny and she just doesn’t look happy.

It often seems like the only projects Lindsay Lohan tackles are partying and getting her picture taken. But, the actress-turned-leggings-designer is expanding her horizons.

We'll let her explain what's been filling her plate these days. (Spolier alert: It includes a spray tan line!) "I actually am starting a spray tan. I'm doing it through Sephora. And it's really exciting cause it's really good and I'm really happy about that," she told E! Online. "My friend and I just had an idea so we did it through my company."

Lohan isn't a one-trick pony, though — she's also concentrating on high-brow projects like, um, a diamond line. Yes, a diamond line. "I'm starting to do a diamond line. I designed this one [points to her jewelry] with my friend Karen from 14 Karats. This is a sliver diamond. Everyone thinks it's a stone and I'm like, 'No it's a diamond, it's not a stone.' Lindsay Lohan
Three young men who claimed Lindsay Lohan commandeered their vehicle and took them on a white-knuckle high-speed chase on Santa Monica-area highways that ended with the actress' arrest on DUI charges last July have filed suit over the bizarre incident, The Associated Press reports.

Dante Nigro, Jakon Sutter and Ronnie Blake sued Lohan last week for battery, false imprisonment, assault, intentional infliction of emotional distress, slander and negligence, seeking damages in excess of $25,000. Two months after the incident, the actress pleaded guilty to two counts of being under the influence of cocaine that night and an earlier drunken-driving arrest, serving 84 minutes in jail before entering rehab.

This week is the week of coming out: From Lindsay Lohan finally admitting to dating DJ Sam Ronson "for a very long time" to Clay Aiken, proud new daddy and proudly out GAY man (no surprise there), it seems that everyone has decided to jump out of the closet and show Sarah Palin who they are. (Ha! Can Lindsay please hit on Governor P? Please??) And, OMFG, there was even a blind item this week about a famous TV housewife who is getting separated from her real-life husband (her beard?) and is rumored to be coming out SOON!

Anyway, long gone are the days when kissing a fellow contestant in a limo full of models was considered cool or edgy (three years ago, I kissed fellow contestant Sarah Rhoades in front of the cameras on "America's Next Top Model"), or when the statement "Yep, I'm gay" was actually daring — people claimed that would end Ellen DeGeneres' career, and now she's one of America's most beloved talk-show hosts, has a hot wife, and gets all the free episodes of "Arrested Development" that she wants! (Yep, I'm jealous.) Remember the uproar when some people claimed one of the Teletubbies might be gay? Read More...

You can have your Jon Stewarts, your Chris Matthewses and your Frank Riches. But when I want some serious, hard-hitting political commentary on Republican vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin, I go to the same source I went to last week for wisdom on the anniversary of the September 11th attacks: Lindsay Lohan's MySpace blog.

Joining a chorus of celebrity critics that already includes Matt Damon and Margaret Cho, Lohan took to her blog on Sunday to lay into the Alaska governor for her views on abortion and homosexuality, not to mention for posing for the cover of celebrity rags when she's, like, not even a real celebrity.

"I really cannot bite my tongue anymore when it comes to Sarah Palin," Lohan wrote. "Is it a sin to be gay? Should it be a sin to be straight? Or to use birth control? Or to have sex before marriage? Or even to have a child out of wedlock? ... I find it quite interesting that a woman who now is running to be second in command of the United States only four years ago had aspirations to be a television anchor. Which is probably all she is qualified to be."

Lindsay LohanYou've got to hand it to Lindsay Lohan — she's cool under pressure.

When surrounded by paparazzi in an airport, less than a day after Los Angeles Police Chief William Bratton's comments about her sexuality, the actress kept her composure, refusing to give the tabloids the kind of sound bite they were probably hoping for. Instead of ripping into Bratton who, the day before, claimed Lohan had "gone gay" (a remark he later tried to quantify by saying his own sister is a lesbian — which apparently makes such comments acceptable in his mind), she followed her PR training to the letter, calling the cop's aside "inappropriate."

Maybe, being a public figure, Lohan can't simply spout off to the media, even after being attacked like that. But most of us wouldn't have been able to bite our tongues, right? Would you have been able to refrain from ripping Bratton a new one, or would you have taken the Lohan approach? Let us know in the comments section below.
