Yo La Tengo, Titus Andronicus and Ebony Bones performed a bittersweet send-off Sunday for the final JellyNYC Pool Party held at Williamsburg's McCarren Park Pool.

But fear not, outdoor concert lovers — JellyNYC plans to work with local officials and community advocacy groups to find a new mainstay venue in the area by next summer.

Ebony Bones found some shelter with us from the sweltering heat and shared her thoughts on the last pool party right before her set. We were having so much fun we missed her signal to get onstage, which resulted in Ebony making a mad dash for her own show!

Check out what Ebony had to say and some of her set after the jump.

We covered the JellyNYC concert series all summer long, so if you missed this last free show (and can't afford to fly to the U.K. to see Ebony Bones on tour), come reminisce with us and watch interviews and performance clips right here in our pool-party show.

The clock is ticking down to MTV's 2008 Video Music Awards on September 7. For the past few weeks, we've been asking viewers to vote for their favorite nominees. And so far, the big names that you always hear about — Britney, Mariah, Kanye — have made the cut, as expected.

But let's just say the indie-rock world hasn't gotten much love this year. This past Sunday, when I spoke with King Khan, the Black Lips' Cole Alexander and Deerhunter's Bradford Cox at the Jelly NYC Pool Party in Brooklyn, out of nowhere, Alexander mentioned the VMAs. He brought it up, not me! That would be like talking about a big blowout party right in front of people you know didn't get invited.

Soon enough, the rest of the gang started chiming in: "How can we go? Please, please, please, let us come!" They promised not to curse and "not to bring any chickens or animals." Alexander swore he wouldn't bother Justin Timberlake, adding, "If you let us perform, I promise we'll be better than Britney was last year." But he admitted that wasn't saying much.

Perhaps as a nod to recovering pop tart, Cox offered to wear a dress with a snake around his neck, and possibly a Chihuahua. ... You've got to check out video for the rest.

Hot. What outrageous stunt would you pull to get a VMA invite? Let us know.

Live chickens seem more fit for a farm than a concert. An old man on rollerblades doesn't exactly scream rock and roll, either. But Sunday's Jelly NYC Pool Party was all about the punk-rock spectacle.

That's no surprise, though. We're dealing with the triple-threat rabble-rousing crew of the Black Lips, Deerhunter and King Khan And The Shrines — three bands that are known as much for their onstage antics as their various blends of punk. But this time, they turned a party designed for a loft or a basement into a giant outdoor party — complete with audience-participation food fights, an onstage toilet-paper smackdown and plenty of cringe-worthy "did they REALLY just do that?" moments.

The bands are bestest friends. But if you ask them, they're more like family. Sort of...

There's no sibling rivalry here. The performers shared the spotlight with each other throughout the course of the afternoon, and said they're going to officially work together soon. "We would like to officially announce a band that we've started called Butt Flower," King Khan half-jokingly told MTV News, adding that the project consists of the Black Lips' Cole Alexander, Deerhunter's Bradford Cox and himself. With Cox and Khan getting together for an impromptu set at the Pitchfork Music Festival last month — AND Cox and Alexander releasing music as Ghetto Cross — the trio seems closer than ever. Unfortunately, it's been difficult to get them all in one place to record, specifically, Khan noted, "because [Alexander's] helicopter ran out of gas."

Not one to leave anything to the imagination, Khan removed his pants to give the crowd a visualization of the new band's name during Deerhunter's set (with the help of some flowers). But even that stunt seemed tame compared to some of the other outrageous moments of the day.

Cox played a guitar with a Chihuahua during the Black Lips’ set, holding the animal's paws up to the fretboard. Rumor has it, the Chihuahua was filling in for two live chickens that were left backstage in a cardboard box due to "health-code violations" (read: if the birds went on, the bands would go home). Oi!

Antics aside, it was a day filled with terrific music. Cox said his "personal highlight" was "Mr. Khan and Mark Sultan [the BBQ half of King Khan & the BBQ Show] jamming to their tune "Too Much in Love" with backing aid from the Black Lips. But that wasn't the only inspiring musical collaboration — Alexander also joined Deerhunter for his killer sound-collage part of "Saved by Old Times," a new track from DH's upcoming album Microcastle. The rest of the Deerhunter set was drama free, focusing on a mostly clean and reverb-less sound. "Brooklyn is my delay pedal today," Cox responded to the crowd's calls for more reverb on his vocals. With the walls of the pool reflecting the pulsating rhythms coming from the stage, he was probably right.

While Deerhunter and the Black Lips have recently been moving away from the pranks of yesteryear, this show served as throwback to their days of house parties and small bars. Now they're bringing the always-welcome danger element back to their music — animals and all — as one big happy, dysfunctional family.

There's nothing like standing under a giant metal stage during a lightning storm — it gets the heart rate up.

But when fellow producers Sarah Muller, Daniela Capistrano and myself headed out with John Norris to interview the Ting Tings, the duo seemed unfazed by the whole we-might-get-electrocuted-out-here thing.

"I think it's dramatic," said Ting Tings frontwoman Katie White, noting that being from England, they are pretty used to the rain. "Maybe the pool will fill up!"

Mother Nature didn’t make things easy for anyone at the at the Jelly NYC Pool Party. I had to balance the wireless mic adapter at a certain angle to avoid static, and to keep both the camera and talent dry, we built a dome of umbrellas. But the wind wasn't having it. A sudden gust took John's umbrella (which he referred to as a small lightning rod) out of the picture, and he had to wrestle it back as it flipped inside out.

Find out how we survived the storm and watch footage of the show after the jump!

Suddenly, hearing yells below us, everyone turned around to see an inflated Slip 'n' Slide collapse on some very soggy sliders. But rather than run back to their tour bus, the Ting Tings just laughed and helped hold umbrellas, and we were able to finish up the interview before they headed onstage.

"You have the weirdest storms here," White said. "We've never seen anything like it. ...You have gale-force winds for like 30 seconds. You know, it like breaks lamp posts, and then they stop. It's crazy." Sure enough, the storm cleared up in time for their show, when we were finally under the "protective" cover of the stage. Go figure!

Police are now trying to identify a badly decomposed body found yesterday at McCarren Park Pool, a popular music venue in Brooklyn.

Ring a bell? Yep, that's the same place the Hold Steady played a few weeks back.

Park workers reportedly made the discovery inside an old pool shed and later told police about "a foul odor" in that area for months. Months?!?

Alexander Kane, the man behind the pool parties, told MTV News it's "so weird that the guy was there decomposing while our events were happening." The Jelly NYC Founder continued, it's "pretty twisted to think about thousands of people drinking beer and partying while a body is decomposing in a restricted pool building."

It's still unclear how long the body has been there. Let's just say the person might have seen the Breeders, Ronnie Spector and the Hold Steady in the afterlife.

This Sunday's concert featuring Liars is set to go on, as scheduled.
