It's been more than a week since Sacha Baron Cohen (as Brüno) dropped in on Eminem at the MTV Movie Awards, but the aftershocks continue! In a speech to the College Republican National Committee, Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty said that the GOP should take a cue from Slim Shady and get mad. According to the New York Times, the Governor was referencing NBC's recent documentary "Inside the White House" when he said,
"I haven't seen something that staged since that half-naked Austrian fell onto the face of Eminem at the MTV music awards" (of course, the incident actually happened at the Movie Awards). He continued, "Eminem was mad. And so, just like Eminem getting dumped on, we've got to kind of regroup. We've got to continue to fight."
The Governor apparently wasn't completely up on his facts, as Eminem admitted last week that he was in on the stunt, and his reaction was merely a case of excellent acting. Even so, it's an unusual event to use to stir your political party! After all, if the GOP follows Mr. Mathers' lead, there will be a lot of storming out of Congress with bodyguards in tow ...

Tom Hanks dropped by Conan O'Brien's reinvented "Tonight Show" last night and, maybe as a welcome-to-L.A. tip, he talked up the virtues of In-N-Out Burger. Tom's apparently a huge fan of the fast-food burger chain located mainly on the West Coast.
"It solves every problem ... sometimes you work on a movie and you're there until 3 in the morning — good news is, at midnight, know what's showing up? The In-N-Out Burger mobile," Hanks explained. "So, everyone's happy. You can't get the shake, but you know what? You don't need that much dairy."
So true. Being a New Yorker, I've never actually seen the In-N-Out van, but it's something I dream of. I'm a huge fan of the In-N-Out burger — I'd even say I'm the resident MTV News expert on the cuisine, and I have to get it every time I'm in L.A. Which means that after spending the last out there for the MTV Movie Awards, I needed it to refuel me constantly. (I won't give the exact number of how many times I visited the one right by Universal Studios, for fear of judgment.) Since the chain's been around for over 60 years, I'm a latecomer to the bandwagon, having first heard of the burgers in 1998's "The Big Lebowski." Read more...
Brüno's bare-assed crash landing on Eminem has already become one of the most talked-about moments in MTV Movie Awards history (for non-Twilighters, I suppose). But it also made us think, was Em really the best person in the audience the Austrian fashion reporter could have chosen?
Here are five celebs we would love to have seen in a compromising position courtesy of Brüno:
5. Doug Reinhardt
Because then something interesting would have happened in the life of Paris Hilton's boyfriend. Read more...
There are a few things you can count on when MTV revs up the awards-show machine: The music will be hot, and the set will flash and buzz like a neon A-bomb, for instance. Now, it's starting to look like there's a good chance you're going to get a glimpse of some guy's rear end.
Sunday night's Movie Awards served up the rare double-shot of man butt. Host Andy Samberg opened the show by treating pal Justin Timberlake to a shot at his back door (as well as junk that, according to JT looks like "Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas"). A short time later, we got an unexpected view of Brüno as he dangled his bits in front of Eminem.
Those surprise bare-bottom cameos brought to mind four incidents of butt reveals at MTV shows in the early '90s. At the 1992 VMAs, Howard Stern dressed as flatulent not-so-superhero Fartman and bared his flabby, hairy backside. Curiously, like Brüno, Stern also descended from the rafters on a wire — in his case to interrupt an acceptance speech by Metallica.

It's the day leading up to the MTV Movie Awards, and right now feels like the calm before the storm. I'm sitting here on the side of the red carpet, which is currently empty, except for the crew who are getting ready to rehearse the big preshow. It's amazing to witness the transformation. In just a few hours from now, this carpet will be packed shoulder-to-shoulder with some of the biggest celebs in the world: Megan Fox, Lil Wayne, Eminem, Miley Cyrus, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Shia LaBeouf and, of course, Brüno (Sacha Baron Cohen's newest character). Tonight is going to be a lot of fun to watch.
Inside, the producers of the main show are hard at work putting the finishing touches to tonight's big performances by Kings of Leon and Eminem, not to mention our host, Andy Samberg, who I promise you will have everyone in stitches.
Late last night, Eminem took to the stage for his rehearsal, and even though he's been away for four years, there's no doubt EMINEM IS BACK! I don't want to spoil it for you, but expect a really special performance and a little bit extra. That's all I'll say.

We found another famous car here at the Universal lot. Actually, it’s more of a van. I had heard rumours from the team that the Mystery Machine — complete with a real-life Scooby Doo and a guy dressed as Shaggy — had been driving around, so we had to track it down.

Along with digital producer Brian, we headed back to the famous-car graveyard that we had found the day before where the “Back to the Future” DeLorean and the Trans Am from “Smokey and the Bandit” are slowly rusting away. And there it was: the green-and-orange VW wagon with the words “The Mystery Machine” sprawled across it. Read more...
There are just two days left before the big night on Sunday when the MTV Movie Awards take over the Universal Studios lot here in Universal City, California.
The team of lighting technicians, engineers, stage designers and riggers all worked overtime and well into the night to create what is, in my opinion, the best-looking stage we've ever had here at the Movie Awards. From the massive, sweeping staircase that the presenters and performers walk down to the two giant robots onstage and the massive screens and thousands of lights, it looks amazing — and it's not even finished yet!
Andy Samberg just walked onstage to start rehearsing so I couldn't help but stick around for his opening lines. If his opening monologue is anything to go by, he's going to be very, very, very funny! Read more...
Hi, Twilighters! Today, I had the great pleasure of spending the day at the home of "Twilight" director Catherine Hardwicke. She has a beautiful place a stone's throw away from the world-famous Venice Beach, and we paid her a visit to talk about her film's seven nominations at the MTV Movie Awards and relive the first time Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson met.
It was a great day of filming, and believe me: "Twilight" fans are not going to want to miss any of this!
We talked about the first "chemistry screen test" between Kristen and Rob. Kristen had to act out a scene with five different potential Edwards, one after another, with Catherine deciding that Robert was "the one" the first time the two kissed — which, as all Twilighters know, happened in Catherine's bedroom. I was always told that it's good to cry, because it helps to release a lot of built-up emotions. It makes it even more gratifying when you cry because you're laughing so hard.
That happened today when I talked to Andy Samberg as he prepares for his hosting gig for the MTV Movie Awards. We met up at the back of the Gibson Amphitheatre on the Universal Studios lot. This is the area where the limos pick up the stars when the show is over. There is also a patio where the stars come to mingle and do press when the festivities end. Read more...
One of the great things about the MTV Movie Awards taking place here at the Gibson Amphitheatre in L.A. is that we get access to most of the Universal Studios lot, including its hidden areas. Yesterday, while producer Akshay Bhansali and I were filming on site, we parked our golf cart (golf cart = FUN) near what must have been the Universal Studios garage, where all the trams, rides and props go to get fixed.
Amongst all the jet-skis and boats from the "Water World" ride and a few other cars, there were a lot of wrecks just laid to rest in the dirt. But then, as Akshay and I looked closer we saw the back of one of the most unmistakable cars of all time: the DeLorean.
Yes, sitting in a junk-car yard in the corner of the Universal Studios lot lies what we're pretty sure is one of the actual DeLoreans from "Back to the Future." We had to get a closer look. The exterior of the car was in pretty good shape, although it was covered in a thick layer of dust and dirt from sitting in the sun for what looks like years — big shame. The two giant vents that stick out the back, and all the other components necessary for time travel, were all in pretty good shape. Although the interior was very sun-damaged, the blue leather was in one piece. And before you ask, I know what you're thinking, and yes, the iconic flux capacitor and the keypad where the Doc punches in the year are still there. Read more...
