What do Kreayshawn, Tyler the Creator and Big Sean all have in common besides being nominated for (and in Tyler’s case, winning) Best New Artist at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards? Some stories that will literally make you laugh out loud while also teaching you a thing or two. They say wisdom comes with age, so here are three things we learned from these artists' childhood tales on "When I Was 17."

1. Know your audience.

Tyler the Creator told a hilarious story of one of his first ever performances at a talent show. Apparently he got a little carried away with the raunchy lyrics and ended up pulling down his pants! But the real kicker – the audience was filled with hardcore religious church members! They kicked him off the stage immediately but didn't fail to teach him (and us) a valuable lesson.

You know, when we were 17 our lives consisted of school, never-ending phone convos and the occasional unsupervised party. We were living it up, or so we thought until we watched the season premiere of "When I Was 17" on MTV this Saturday featuring Bow Wow, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Colbie Caillat. From breaking Grammy Awards to crashing cars, each star shared outrageous stories from their teen years that totally put our own ones to shame. But which star's teen tales were the most memorable? Keep reading below to find out our top three favorites below.

3. Bow Wow Fails His License Test...Three Times!: Most teens can't wait to get behind the wheel, but few look forward to the driver's license exam they have to take to get there. Bow Wow was no different. At 17 he was already a star, and more than ready for his first set of keys. Unfortunately, he failed his driver's license exam...not once, but three times. In the series, Bow Wow reveals that the only reason he eventually passed the test was because a sympathetic DMV worker broke the rules to help him out. Wisely, he didn't name her. Otherwise, we're sure teens everywhere would be flocking to her booth.

2. Colbie Caillat Breaks Her Father's Grammy: When we attended raucous high school parties the most that got destroyed was the carpet. But at 17, Colbie's out-of-control house party resulted in a much more valuable casualty: her father's Grammy Award. The trophy was knocked over and split in two after a fight broke out at her house. Luckily for the singer though, she went on to win two of her own Grammys in the following years. We're guessing at least one of them went straight to her dad.

Dreams came true for a bunch of Little Monsters tonight, as they got some face time with Lady Gaga during “MTV First: Lady Gaga.”

A handful of lucky fans got to join Gaga live at MTV's Times Square studio for the TV premiere of her latest video, "You and I." Looking radiant in a white dress, very large white hat and sunglasses, Gaga reveled in the adoration of her fans, offering hugs and handshakes as she made her way across the studio to the windows overlooking Times Square, where she was greeted by hundreds of screaming fans decked out in some of her best-known looks.

After the video, one especially lucky fan got to ask an on-air question (many more fans got a turn during the MTV.com live stream), and asked the pop star something that's been on our mind as well since first seeing the clip: "How do you have sex with a mermaid?"

"That's part of the metaphor - you can't," Gaga replied, explaining that "sometimes in love, you just can't make it work."

Gaga's fans in Times Square simply couldn't get enough of Mother Monster. “She's unique, she's special, she's crazy,” Gaga fan Danny told MTV News. Another fan, Anne Marie, is taken with Gaga’s strength, saying, “She fights for what she believes in and what she wants. She doesn’t back down for anybody.” Lil Monster Alex took it a step further, telling us that Gaga “freed my soul.”

Gaga explains the meaning of \"Yoü And I\" to Little Monsters in our studio.

Sure, '90's Nickelodeon played a key role in shaping our childhood. Doug and Patty provided us with fashion sense. Kenan and Kel made us fond of orange soda. “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” encouraged us to use a nightlight. These shows were crucial in the development of our young, innocent brains, but it was the radical movement of MTV that really had an impact on how we are today.

As young interns for MTV News, we can't ignore the influence certain programs had on us. It's one of the reasons we wanted to come here in the first place. So, while Nickelodeon’s re-airings of hits like “Doug” and “Clarissa Explains It All” are thrilling our slightly older MTV News colleges, we're hoping MTV will be inspired and re-play our favorite classics from the late '90s and early 2000s.

“Celebrity Deathmatch,” 1998-2002 – Matt Goodhue
In a time when WWF ruled my Monday nights, I needed another program to meet my wrestling needs during the week. “Celebrity Deathmatch” was the missing link. Not only could I watch claymation characters kick each other's asses in brutal ways, the matches featured celebrities and historical figures that I would have loved to see square off in the ring. Beavis vs. Butt-head. The Backstreet Boys vs. The Beastie Boys. Busta Rhymes vs. William Shakespeare. Pure genius. With commentators Johnny Gomez and Nick Diamond giving the play-by-play, “Celebrity Deathmatch” provided endless entertainment and a copious amount of blood and physical injury. Bring back the clay!

In light of all of the endings we’ve had to cope with as of late (the finale of the "Harry Potter" franchise, the demise of J.Lo’s marriage, the exodus of Charlie Sheen’s remaining goddess, etc.), isn’t it high time for a new beginning?

We gave two of MTV.com’s foremost pop culture connoisseurs free rein to let loose on everything they’re most obsessed with in pop music and pop culture that week. The result: The pilot episode of our new weekly web series, "Bigger Than the Buzz"!

Tamar Anitai is the managing editor of MTV Buzzworthy and James Montgomery writes MTV News’ Bigger Than the Sound column, and neither one can STFU about pop music and pop culture. They devote each day to dishing out all of the need-to-know happenings, sounding off on their favorite videos and swapping notes on up-and-coming artists. We decided to put their gift for gab to good use by dragging them out from behind their computers and in putting them in front of our camera, so you could get involved in the conversation.

Each week, Tamar and James invite you to join them as they breakdown the week's most pertinent moments in pop music and pop culture over a tall glass of milk. (Fun fact: James hates milk! If you look closely you can see the nausea in his eyes.) In the debut episode they chat about everything from mermaids to VMAs and we can’t wait to hear what you think – not only about each topic, but about the pilot too! So leave us some comments, Tweet us and them (@MTVBuzzworthy and @positivnegativ) with #BTTB and let us know if you’re pickin’ up what James and Tamar are puttin’ down.

The MTV Newsroom is not traditionally a place for religious fanaticism. But with Harold Camping and his followers making everyone (on the Internets, at least) think the world is ending on Saturday, we thought we'd hedge our bets. Here's how some MTV Newsers are spending their last hours on Earth:

Sabrina Rojas Weiss, editor: "I'm an escapist to the core — true story: I held a dance party at someone's death bed — so I'm not about to change my tune now. I'll actually be on a plane to an undisclosed tropical island on May 21, so if the world comes crumbling down, I will be listening to the new Fleet Foxes album (while picturing myself frolicking through a forest, of course. Oh, forests and old-fashioned harmonizing, I'll miss you), catching up on 'Friday Night Lights,' reading the latest Charlaine Harris novel (crap, will the world end before Sookie and Eric live happily ever after?) and repeatedly forcing my husband to watch this Swedish House Mafia video in which puppies save the day. Maybe my dog will actually be busy doing just that."

Vaughn Schoonmaker, producer: "On my last day, I would drink countless margaritas with my family (triple shots of super expensive tequila, hold the mix) and dance on my rooftop overlooking Midtown Manhattan to Gloria Gaynor's 'I Will Survive,' anything by Donna Summer, and the Bee Gees' 'Night Fever.' All while eating buffalo chicken tenders (I am currently a vegetarian) and probably crying because I sometimes get weepy when I drink too much. Also, I would let my cat, Bensoit off of his leash during this fiasco."

Stefano Langone sang his heart out to be a finalist on "American Idol"; however, number seven did not prove to be so lucky for him. Last Thursday, Stefano's rendition of "Closer" resulted in him getting farther from the "Idol" title. A few days after his elimination, Stefano stopped by the MTV News studio to answer some hard-hitting questions (and by hard hitting, we mean completely ludicrous).

Stefano may not have a record deal like recent castoff Pia Toscano is rumored to have, but that doesn't mean he's going to stop trying to win over the hearts of America. He revealed to our own Jim Cantiello that his debut album would be named Right Path, and we can't help but root for Stefano to find that path and make it his own. After all, his favorite show on TV right now is "Survivor"; surely he's picked up some techniques throughout the past 22 seasons.

Hidden in between the serious questions Cantiello had to ask, we did manage to squeeze in some ridiculous queries, like "Would you rather have pancake batter shoot out of your navel or sweat sweet tea?" We highly recommend watching if you think this is not "The End of the Road" (snort) for Stefano.

Don't miss "Idol Party Live" every Thursday at noon on MTV.com for analysis, celebrity guests and even some karaoke — get in the conversation by tweeting with the hashtag #idolparty! In the meantime, get your "Idol" fix on MTV News' "American Idol" page, where you'll find all the latest news, interviews and opinions.

New West Week, spotlighting the re-energized L.A. hip-hop scene, is under way at MTV News, and when I originally pitched the concept of a New West Week I didn't have much of a big, grandiose plan.

I noticed that there were a bunch of young, up-and-coming artists in L.A. who didn't have much in common other than the fact that they weren't of the N.W.A/Dr. Dre lineage and were being overlooked. But the main reason I wanted to go out to Cali was because I thought Odd Future and Casey Veggies were dope.

I didn't know much about either act before last November. I'd seen a bunch of reviews from their Webster Hall show and our rock editor, James Montgomery, even stopped by to talk to me about them. I was familiar with some Mellowhype tracks that I had heard on a few blogs, and I only knew Tyler, the Creator from a remix of N.E.R.D's "Inside of Clouds" he'd done. I didn't know that those guys were a part of a larger group or even that Tyler rapped. Read More...

Today, the annually epic and newly relocated Electric Daisy Carnival announced its headliners for the now-three-day affair — scheduled for June 24-26. This year's mega-fest, which had in the past been held at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, will journey across the desert and into the heart of Sin City, where it will be held for the first time at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Headlining on Friday, June 24, will be Tiësto, who recently blew away the crowd at Miami's Ultra Music Festival. His latest smash hit, "Beautiful World" — a collaboration with Mark Knight featuring Dino — earned fan-favorite honors in MTV News' Top Track of Miami poll, and his latest album, Club Life, Volume One: Las Vegas, currently sits at #3 on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums charts.

On Saturday, June 25, the spotlight will shift to crossover mega-producer and DJ David Guetta, whose past collaborations with the Black Eyed Peas, will.i.am, Rihanna and Akon have made him one of the key figures in dance music sweeping the States. Anyone who has seen a live Guetta set at a festival knows that the guest performances and overall energy his show brings to the crowd is nothing short of epic.

Finally, on Sunday, June 26, the Electric Daisy Carnival stage will again be graced by the Swedish House Mafia. Coming off a triumphant week in Miami, where they spearheaded their own standalone mini-festival, "Masquerade Motel: One Night Stand", the Swedes return to the EDC scene amidst a storm of praise as the rock stars of dance music. On the heels of their soon-to-be-released and surefire-hit single, "Save the World" (featuring John Martin), Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso are poised to raise the desert heat to a whole new level.

Tickets for the flagship Las Vegas EDC event go on sale this Saturday at 3 p.m. ET. The touring festival also will make several other stops along the way: Orlando, Florida (May 27 and 28); Denver (June 11); Dallas (June 18); and Puerto Rico (August 27).

Plan on hitting up EDC as it makes its first trip to Las Vegas? Let us know in the comments below!
