1. Demi Lovato: This Disney star isn't expected to slow down in 2009. She's getting her own TV show, "Sonny with a Chance," and she'll also be seen with Selena Gomez in the movie "Princess Protection Program." She'll also once again hook up with the Jonas Brothers, if the rumored sequel to "Camp Rock" happens.

2. Daniel Radcliffe: After hitting Broadway for "Equus," Daniel isn't going to let his role onscreen as a wizard go — he's also got two more "Harry Potter" flicks lined up after the release of "The Half-Blood Prince." Also up for Daniel is "Journey," in which he plays photojournalist Dan Eldon.

3. Selena Gomez: Not only will she be casting a spell as one of the "Wizards of Waverly Place" and in her movie "Princess Protection Program," but she's also hoping that she can bewitch people with her album, due out sometime this year.

4. Taylor Lautner: 2009 is already looking up for Lautner — after Twilighters weren't sure if the teen would be back for the highly anticipated "Twilight" sequel, "New Moon," it was decided that in fact Lautner could handle the role. It means he'll have to bulk up for it, but we're sure he doesn't mind.

5. Blake Lively: She already made the cover of Vogue and will continue her reign as Serena van der Woodsen on "Gossip Girl." But not one to let her film career fall by the wayside, Lively can also be seen in "New York, I Love You" as well as "The Private Lives of Pippa Lee," playing the teen version of the main character being played by Robin Wright Penn.

6. Rihanna: She's re-releasing "Good Girl Gone Bad," but for 2009 she's "Reloaded" it for her fans. She's also nominated for a 2009 NAACP Image Award nomination for Outstanding Female Artist and she recently collaborated with rumored boyfriend Chris Brown for the song "Bad Girl," on the "Confessions of a Shopaholic" soundtrack.

7. Leighton Meester: Leighton will be hard at work keeping everyone on their toes as Blair Waldorf on "Gossip Girl." But, in her spare time, she's working on an album she's described as "a good mixture of hip-hop-sounding, very vibe-y music. It's so cool because it's a completely different creative process."

8. Ed Westwick: Sure, we love him as the devilish Chuck Bass on "Gossip Girl," but in 2009 Ed will also star alongside Jackson Rathbone in "S. Darko." He'll continue his work with his rock band, The Filthy Youth, and his day job as an actor gives him the perfect opportunity to pursue both.

It's Pop Week here at MTV News, and that means we are catching up with and getting to know everyone who's going to make a splash in pop music and culture over the next twelve months. Whether they're just popping up on the scene or are already the name on everyone's lips, MTV News is there with them as they prepare to tackle 2009.

When MTV News caught up with "High School Musical" star Lucas Grabeel to talk all things Pop Week, he shared with us his passion for filmmaking. He also shared a few anecdotes about his experiences making short films and music videos for the songs he's written over the past few years.

Two music videos he spoke to us about were "You Got It," which he wrote for "High School Musical 2," and "Get Your Ass On." The video for "You Got It" was shot by Lucas and a bunch of his friends while they were on vacation in Europe. "We just shot everywhere. It turned out to be really cool," our Male Pop Rookie said about the experience. "We got from the top of the Eiffel Tower to a Prince concert in London. It was pretty cool."

The other music video was for "Get Your Ass On," which he also shot with a group of friends, but this time in a hotel room while he was hard at work on the film "The Adventures of Food Boy."

Meanwhile, he's also worked on two short films called "Smoke Break" and "The Real Son," and he reveals that he likes to work behind the camera. "I really love producing," he said. "Seeing the project from start to finish. I'm an idea man. I like putting people together, establishing relationships and telling a story with several different mediums."

Here's five things you might not know about the Jonas Brothers.

1. They would love to make a movie with Ben Stiller. "I love Ben Stiller and we met him just recently," Joe said. "We were talking with him about doing a movie."

2. The original concept for their TV show "J.O.N.A.S." was that the guys would be spies; the title stood for Junior Operatives Networking As Spies. "Everyone knew it was going to be about spies," Kevin said. "And that's changed a little bit, I guess, 'cause in the course of the last two years the band has changed a little bit. We're going to be the Jonas Brothers going through life — like, going to school, but still being the Jonas Brothers."

3. Sasha and Malia Obama are big fans of the boys, even if their dad — the president — doesn't really get it. "Who are these guys?" he recalled asking his daughters. "And how many pictures of them do you need on your wall?"

4. They are huge Britney Spears fans. "She was the first CD I ever bought," Joe revealed.

5. The song "Lovebug" was inspired by the movie "Juno." "The vision for the song actually came from some different inspirations," Nick said. "But 'Juno' was one of our favorite movies at the time, and the soundtrack is always kind of odd, so we decided to put those elements in the song and it came very nicely."

She's ready for her Playboy close-up, and she's also ready to leave Diddy, "Making the Band" and Danity Kane behind. On top of all this, Aubrey is still finding out who she is in her personal life.

It feels like we know everything there is to know about Aubrey O'Day. The best part is, she even admits that. "I'm a very honest person," she told us. "I'm an open book. You can kind of see that. There is nothing fake about me, actually, besides my hair, and it's not always fake, but today it happens to be fake."

But we here at MTV News managed to find out five things you might not know about Miss O'Day.

1. "I traveled around the world. I sailed around the world, actually," she shared. "I went to Japan, China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Thailand, India, Tanzania, South Africa, Brazil and Cuba."

2. "When I traveled around the world, I met with Fidel Castro, Nelson Mandela and the Dalai Lama," she revealed. "And I went to the Taj Mahal and the Great Wall of China, those are probably the neatest things."

3. "Another thing people might not know about me is I have my own charity," she said. "F.A.N. — Fight AIDS Now. And I also work with another charity called Responsibility. Both charities are near and dear to my heart [and] both regard children."

2. "I think I will probably be the most amazing mother," she said. "This is my silly dream. I want to be like Josephine Baker and have a rainbow tribe. I want to have a house full of adopted children from different countries that have different values and ideals and different ways of thinking about life."

1. "I have my own clothing line called Heart on my Sleeve, and I basically started off designing T-shirts for myself when my ex-boyfriend broke my heart," she said. "I had a lot of things that I still wanted to say, and instead of being that crazy girlfriend that calls you a bunch of times and leaves all, I just started writing them on my shirt."

Now, imagine being a rocker who can play multiple instruments with ease and has a standing weekly gig at a Hollywood hotspot. Finally, picture the thrill of standing onstage while your devoted (and almost entirely female) fanbase shrieks at your every move.

Welcome to the world of Jackson Rathbone. We gave the 23-year-old "Twilight" star a Flip Cam recently during a concert by his band 100 Monkeys, and told him to go to town. The actor/musician shot his view from the stage, gave us an exclusive tour of the instruments at his house and even introduced us to his cat Dean.

Maybe Jackson will turn out to be the next J.Lo, and someday top the worlds of music and movies simultaneously. OK, maybe that’s not his ideal role model; maybe he’d prefer to pull a Robert Pattinson and keep things under the radar. Either way, it’s a lot of fun looking into the life of the banjo-lele-wielding artist sometimes known as Jasper Hale -- and suddenly, it’s not nearly as hard to imagine what it would be like to live out Jackson’s real life rock 'n' roll fantasy.

When I ventured onto the set for Mitchel Musso’s video for "The In Crowd," it was kind of like reliving high school. There were extras running all over set in stereotypical high school garb — The jock! The nerd! The rocker! — although my high school wasn’t really like that. It was more like the John Hughes high school I never went to. (Wait, is that going too far back? Okay, it was more like the "High School Musical" I never went to.) So as I was looking at this crowd of high school kids that I didn’t really recognize, there was actually one kid who stood out. No, not "the big man on campus," but actually one of Mitchel’s bandmates. But it wasn’t until I asked him, "Dude, where do I know you from?" that I got my answer. His name is Leland Grant and he was on a VH1 reality show a few years ago called "In Search Of The Partridge Family" – this guy. While he won the top spot there as the new Keith Partridge (beating out Teddy Geiger), these days he spends his time as a behind-the-scenes guy for Mitchel Musso. He had a heavy hand in the production of Mitchel’s album, and might be putting out his own work in the near future. Perhaps he’ll be one of our top rookies for 2010.

Miranda Cosgove is not only one of our Female Pop Rookies of 2009, she's also a complete sweetheart. The actress/singer gave MTV News a chance to stop by the set of her hit Nickelodeon series "iCarly" to get a behind-the-scenes view of what it's like to work on a TV show about a Web show.

The day we stopped by, Miranda was working on the episode called "iCarly Awards." The bubbly star took us around and gave us a taste of what it's like to be her for a day. After she got her hair and makeup done, Miranda got in character for a scene in which Carly handed out the award for "best bottle-blowing" to a character named Jessica.

"I'm doing more crazy stuff," the 15-year-old revealed about this season to MTV News. "Also, I have a boyfriend [played by Drew Roy], finally. He's really cute and nice. He drives a motorcycle. It's kind of funny, 'cause my character is so sweet." That means it's not much of a stretch for sweet Miranda to play her part. But we're still keeping an eye out for what the budding "it" girl has on the horizon.

Mitchel Musso stars as Oliver on "Hannah Montana." He's been hard at work on his album, which comes out in April, and now he's working hard to share a few little-known things about himself.

Here are five things you might not know about Miley Cyrus' BFF Mitchel:

1. His older brother, Mason, is in Metro Station. "Mason is always there for me," he told MTV News from the set of his video for "The In Crowd." "He's my role model for music."

2. Despite his onscreen preppy look as Oliver on "Hannah Montana," in real life, Mitchel embraces his inner schlep or his inner rock star — depending on the day. "They see me on Hanna Montana as kind of preppy ... completely different," he revealed. "It's either so laid-back I'm in basketball shorts and a ripped-up T-shirt, or it's like I'm wearing tight jeans, a blinged-out T-shirt and my watch and cruising up in my car to a club."

3. When he's not busy on "Hannah Montana," he's busy making music or hitting the scene. "I'm either in the studio [or] hanging out with my friends," he said. "I like driving my car. If you're 17, you know exactly what I like to do."

4. He and Miley share their music-business experiences with each other. "Me and Miley rarely talk about business [but] when we do ... it's about music," he said. "She's voiced her opinions on [my] stuff that I've corrected."

5. You can give Mitchel a call, and he just might call you back. "You guys want to hit me up on the cellular, (323) 622-8588," he shared. "If you guys wanna call that up, leave me a message."

There are many things you might already know about Jackson Rathbone. He plays newly vegetarian vampire Jasper in "Twilight," has a band called 100 Monkeys, is a Sagittarius and was born in Singapore. Then again there's a slew of stuff you might not yet know about the actor, whom we just named one of the Male Pop Rookies of 2009. We'll let him tell you about them himself:

1. "I do a lot of photography, and I do a little bit of drawing. I try to incorporate the two together."

2. "I tend to sleep in all of my clothes and wear them the next day. I also haven't washed my hair in five years. No, not really. But it's been a long time."

3. "I play banjo. It's really annoying. And I also play accordion. Those two things are both really annoying. And I also play ukulele, which is also annoying, but I was taught to play ukulele by Spencer Bell, incredible musician."

4. "When I was very young, I busted my head open three different times — probably explains why I'm an artist."

5. "I don't take very good care of my car, as my dad tells me many times. I've been in several fender-benders. My bumper has fallen off a few times. I taped it back on with duct tape. Duct tape is awesome, by the way, but it kept falling off, so now my car has no bumper."

You won't see Lucas Grabeel hitting the clubs anytime soon. That's because the "High School Musical" star — who also recently starred in "Milk" alongside fellow rookie Dave Franco — describes himself as a "homebody."

"Well, I spend a lot of time doing other art projects," he shared with MTV News. "I like to paint and draw, play around in my music studio, play video games. I'm a homebody. I like to stay home."

Since he happens to spend a lot of time at home, it isn't surprising that he shared with us that he had yet to see "Slumdog Millionaire," despite the fact that he's a big fan of the Golden Globe-winning movie's soundtrack.

"Well, on the way here I was listening to the 'Slumdog Millionaire' soundtrack," he said. "It was really good. I just got a new iPod so there's everything on there."

We also found five other things that might surprise you about the very succinct Lucas.

1. "I'm a good cook."

2. "I like horses."

3. "I'm a neat freak."

4. "I like to build things. I just built a slipper shelf. I'm weird like that."

5. "I eat a lot of sandwiches."
