jimmy falon

By Zachary Swickey

Jimmy Fallon took advantage of his “Late Night” hosting gig at NBC to unveil the cover for his upcoming comedy album, Blow Your Pants Off. Fallon has recruited some of the top names in music, including Bruce Springsteen, Eddie Vedder, Paul McCartney, and Justin Timberlake to name a few, for his first release in a decade.

Fallon’s comically risqué cover is a bit, shall we say, cheeky, as he bares his bum while laying on a bearskin rug, wine in hand, with a fire crackling in the background. A very strategically placed sticker with the release date – June 12 – blocks any view of the good stuff, but Fallon claims purchased copies will be scandalously sticker-less.

The unique cover is sure to raise some eyebrows, incite moments of laughter and probably upset a few people. Drumming mastermind Questlove could barely contain himself as he got a case of the chuckles when the cover was revealed.

Fallon discussed his album cover choice on his show, joking, “I don’t remember taking this photo at all. It's just a guy relaxing at home with a nice glass of wine. Starts listening to the album and his pants blew off."

“I don't know if this is my butt or a stunt butt. There's rumors going around that it's the 'Mona Lisa' of album covers,” Fallon continued.

You’ll have to wait until June 12 to see all of Fallon’s goodies and, you know, hear what kind of funny jams he's concocted with some of the most legendary names in the music biz.

Jimmy Fallon

Jimmy Fallon has announced he will release his first comedy album since 2002's The Bathroom Wall on June 12. Titled Blow Your Pants Off, the set features guest appearances from many of the top stars who've helped make many of Fallon's best skits from his late night talk show go viral, including Bruce Springsteen, Eddie Vedder, Paul McCartney and Justin Timberlake.

>> Jimmy Fallon Sued For Gender Bias (But It's Not What You're Thinking)

Based on that guest list, we're curious if at least part of Fallon's album will be a sort of "best of," featuring his amazing "History Of Rap" medleys with Timberlake or his collaborations with Springsteen, in which Fallon impersonates Neil Young and Springsteen plays a younger, "Born to Run"-era version of himself and the pair sing the most out of character modern pop songs imaginable – so far Willow Smith's "Whip My Hair" and LMFAO's "Sexy and I know It."

>> Jimmy Fallon Spoofs 'Downton Abbey'

We've collected some of our favorite of Jimmy's musical moments, including those listed above and one classic from his first album, after the jump. Check 'em out and let us know in the comments below if your excited about his new comedy album! Read More...

Glee

By Elizabeth Lancaster

Last week, "Glee" pleased pop music lovers everywhere with their rendition of the hit single "Somebody That I Used to Know." Show standout Darren Criss performed the emotional ballad alongside guest star Matt Bomer, and while they gave the song their own touch, they stuck to the general structure and vibe of the original. Based on the already established widespread popularity of the song, the cover was very well-received by most.

Unfortunately, Gotye himself was not so pleased. The Australian singer told the Sunday Mail (via Billboard), "They did such a faithful arrangement of the instrumentals but the vocals were that pop 'Glee' style, ultra-dry, sounded pretty tuned and the rock has no real sense, like it's playing to you from a cardboard box."

Ouch. Such a review from the song's singer is probably not what the show's creators or young stars were going for. If that wasn’t enough, he went on to say that the "Glee" cover "made it [the song] sound dinky and wrong."

Despite Gotye’s rejection of the rendition, the attention "Glee's" "Big Brother" episode brought the song gave it the extra push it needed to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Listen to both the "Glee" cover and Gotye's original below and tell us what you think of the cover in the comments below.

We've been needing a "Downton Abbey" fix ever since the show wrapped up its drama-filled second season in February. We've delighted in casting news and spoilers, but now we have a fresh spoof to laugh at courtesy of Jimmy Fallon.

The spoof, titled "Downtown Sixbey", re-imagines the Emmy-winning series as the inner workings of Fallon's late night talk show, which is set at Rockefeller Center's Studio 6B. (Get it? "Sixbey.) Fallon's writer's room steps in for "Downton's" servant's dining quarters, the site of much intrigue, while "upstairs" Fallon as Earl of Downtown Sixbey dines with his family and a foreign visitor (let's hope he doesn't meet the same fate as poor Mr. Pamuk).

Brooke Shields steps in as the Earl's wife, Nora, and his unfortunate looking middle daughter is played by "Portlandia" star Fred Armisen.

Just as on the PBS Masterpiece series, the Earl gets receives a message saying that the current heir to Downton Sixbey –in this case, "Last Call" host Carson Daly – has gotten in an accident. A hot air balloon accident with Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green, specifically. (Don't worry Xtina and Cee Lo are fine, but Carson has disappeared.) The new air will be his nephew (played by Questlove).

And we can't help ourselves from sharing them, so you've been warned – if you do not want to know three major plot points from the period drama's third season stop reading. Like, NOW.

Last year, we felt hard for "Downton Abbey" and we weren't the only ones.

The show's second season averaged 7 million viewers (up 2 million from its already hugely successful first season) and the season finale drew 8.1 million eyes, the most for any PBS program since the premiere episode of Ken Burns' acclaimed documentary series "National Parks."

Anyway, the show is an absolutely addictive, super sudsy highbrow soap opera, and we love it. Last season ended with a big finally moment, and while it appeared like things were finally starting to pan out the way we all hoped they would, we should know better than to expect the best for the residents of "Downton."

So we're simultaneously thrilled and a little nervous about the big-time spoilers executive producer Rebecca Eaton told The Orlando Sentinel this week. Ready for a very early look at the third season of "Downton"? Read on. Read More...

Wigg Jason Samberg

By Zachary Swickey

Who are the funniest cast members in the current season of “Saturday Night Live”? If you said Kristen Wiig, Jason Sudeikis and Andy Samberg, you would be correct, which is exactly why we are so concerned over rumors that the trio will be bowing out of the show at the end of this season.

Us Weekly is reporting the three will be moving on to bigger and better things once this season is over. It's not the most shocking news considering their rising star power. Wiig ruled the box office and scored an Oscar nomination with her comedy “Bridesmaids,” Sudeikis charmed us in “Horrible Bosses” and “Hall Pass” and goofball Samberg is starting to get more film parts (including the upcoming Sundance favorite "Celeste and Jesse Forever," which was written by and stars Rashida Jones) in addition to his comedy work with The Lonely Island guys.

“Kristen Wiig, Andy Samberg, and Jason Sudeikis are all leaving after the end of the season,” an insider told Us. “Kristen was talking about leaving a while ago,” a pal of Wiig’s continued. “With her movie success, it’s no surprise.”

Of course a spokeswoman for Wiig and Sudeikis has already attempted to clear up the rumor, saying, “There is no truth to this rumor on both Jason and Kristen’s behalf.” So who knows!

Some fans are surprised that Wiig has stuck around as long as she has – she’s been a fan-favorite of “SNL” from day one. Sudeikis experienced his first flop with last year’s “A Good Old Fashioned Orgy,” but his two other films – “Hall Pass” and “Horrible Bosses” – were both certified hits. Samberg’s fame is more cult-like with his viral-friendly skits and '07 film “Hot Rod.”

Will you still watch 'SNL' if Kristen Wiig, Andy Samberg and Jason Sudeikis fly the coop? Let us know in the comments below!

Stevie Ryan has made a name for herself making fun of celebrities on her new VH1 show, "Stevie TV." She's created her own music video, "Sexy Mistake," mocking Katy Perry’s "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)," has gotten into character as Lady Gaga and has gone as far as to trade genders to get into her favorite character, Justin Bieber.

"It was Justin Bieber," Stevie told MTV News of what celeb is most fun to play. "Because I always tell everybody how guys and girls always like me when I’m Justin Bieber that girls are like 'You’re so cute,' like 'Are you really a girl?' and then guys are like 'I don’t know what it is, but you’re really hot,' but I really like playing everybody."

Stevie got her start impersonating celebrities and creating her own characters on her YouTube channel and instantly she became an Internet sensation. Her show, which is a series of comedy sketches, has Ryan portraying some of today’s biggest celebrities and reality TV stars, including her not-so-favorite, Kim Kardashian.

"I just thought what a great way to kind of show that this is what the younger generation is growing up with, that’s who little girls like is Kim Kardashian," Ryan said. "It’s just observing these weird behaviors and finding a place for them that makes sense because you can always make fun of Kim Kardashian, she has a big butt, she made a sex tape, but at the same time you have to step back and look at the big picture, people are actually wanting to be like this."

Well, we wanted to know what Stevie really thought about all these celebrities, so when she stopped by MTV News we put her to the test by playing word association with some of the biggest stars.

Check out the video below!

"Stevie TV" airs Sundays at 11 p.m. ET on VH1.

One Direction

By Elizabeth Lancaster

No exhaling yet for fans of "The X Factor"! In an interview yesterday with "Access Hollywood," Simon Cowell broke it down for everyone and explained who he is currently supporting musically, and who he CLEARLY is not.

Clearly supporting: One Direction. "We’ve been missing this kind of pop boom for a while and I think this is going to be the beginning of a wave," he said of One Direction's incredible success. He admires their "solid fan base" and ended the conversation proclaiming, "They’re smart boys."

(Don't forget, One Direction was discovered on the U.K. version of "The X Factor." Find out everything you need to know about the latest boy band sensation in our primer – One Direction: A Guide To The Biggest Boy Band Around)

So if Simon likes One Direction, who is he not so interested in? Well, in response to inquiries about Darren Criss being asked to host "X Factor," Simon said, "I don’t know who he is." When he was altered to the fact that Criss is a breakout from "Glee," he asked, "Is he the one in the wheelchair? I like him."

So who will be on the panel? That remains as up in the air as ever.

"At the moment, all the concentration is on the judging panel. I’ve got to be honest with you, as usual Billy, this is all gonna happen at the last minute. I can feel it," Cowell told "Access Hollywood." "There’s so much going on at the moment over there with the show. It’s a lot of work to put in and there’s a new component to the show which is exciting and I’m not going to talk about it yet ‘cause I don’t want to tell the others what I’m doing. So there’s just a lot going on. So I think in terms of order, we’ve got to land the judges, and then, I think you’ve gotta work out the hosts, based on who the judges are gonna be to make sure you get the right chemistry.”

So the search continues. Who would you like to see join "The X Factor"? Let us know in the comments below.

Tina Fey

By Zachary Swickey

Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey's critically acclaimed sitcom “30 Rock” is tackling the tricky task of doing another live episode of the hit comedy show next month. Baldwin made the big reveal during his segment on “Extra” yesterday (March 21), which NBC has since confirmed.

This will be the second episode to get the live treatment. The first time around, in October 2010, the cast performed the show live twice – once for the east coast and once for the west coast.

For ratings challenged '30 Rock,' it's an experiment worth repeating: The 2010 live episode remains one of the show's most watching, pulling in 6.7 million viewers for a 3.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic. Considering this season has only been getting 4 million people to tune in regularly, the second live episode, airing on April 26, will hopefully give the program the boost it needs for its current sixth season.

Of course, most the cast of “30 Rock” are already pros at the live-taping game. Stars Tina Fey and Tracy Morgan made names for themselves on “Saturday Night Live,” and Baldwin has hosted "SNL" 16 times, so he’s no schlep either. Additionally, show star Jane Krakowski is a Broadway vet, having won a Tony for her performance in the musical "Nine."

The last time “30 Rock” undertook a live taping, a slew of stars made guest appearances on the episode, including Jon Hamm, Matt Damon, “SNL” cast member Bill Hader and “Seinfeld” star Julia Louis Dreyfus, who played Fey’s character, Liz Lemon, for flashback sequences. Read More...
