Jimmy Fallon

Much has been made about late night television being a boys club – from "The Daily Show" to "The Late Show with David Letterman," multiple shows have endured accusations of sexism – so it comes as something of a surprise that one late night host is now embroiled in a lawsuit charging the opposite.

A former staffer on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" is accusing the popular host of "gender bias" in a lawsuit filed in New York, saying he was fired from his job because Fallon "prefers to take direction from a woman" and that he was replaced by a "totally incompetent woman," according to papers obtained by TMZ. Paul Tarascio, the first stage manager on Fallon's NBC show, claims he isn't the only man to have lost his position because of Fallon's lady-preferring ways, alleging audio technicians and a prop-master were also replaced by women at the host's request.

NBC has not responded to the lawsuit at this time, but last year, when Tarascio filed a complaint with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the New York Division of Human Rights relating to the same issue, the network said, "Any claim of sexual discrimination is without merit."

The suit comes just weeks after David Letterman's comedy booker Eddie Brill was fired after making disparaging remarks about female comics in a New York Times profile. (For its part, "Late Show" execs say Brill was let go for "speaking to the press without authorization" and not his opinion.") Last summer, feminist blog Jezebel investigated what it referred to as "The 'Daily Show's' Woman Problem" and spoke with multiple former staffers, many of whom alleged the show was a "boys club" that cycled quickly through the few female employees it hired and created a "frustrating and alienating experience" for them while they were there.

Jason Segel

It's been a big year for "How I Met Your Mother" star Jason Segel and it just got even bigger – Harvard University's Hasty Pudding Theatricals has named the actor-writer its Man of the Year.

Hasty Pudding Theatricals, the nation's oldest drama group, has bestowed its Man of the Year honor on a pretty esteemed bunch of entertainers, from directors like Steven Spielberg and Martin Scorsese to actors including Tom Cruise and Bruce Willis, but it really prizes Renaissance men. It's most recent honorees have included multi-hyphenate showmen like James Franco, Justin Timberlake, Tim Robbins and Robert Downey Jr.

Segel is certainly a move in that same direction, as the star is currently everywhere you look wearing a variety of caps, acting on TV's "How I Met Your Mother" and in hit films like "Bad Teacher" and the well-reviewed "Jeff Who Lives At Home" and writing flicks like "Forgetting Sarah Marshal." Sometimes he combines both, as he did for "The Muppets" starring in and writing the critically acclaimed box office hit.

Expect the nudity prone performer to put on quite a show when he's roasted in Cambridge, Mass., on Feb. 3.

As we Americans emotionally prepare ourselves for the next installment of the second season of PBS’ answer to “Gossip Girl,” “Downton Abbey” (airing Sunday), MTV News figured out the best way to get some awesome scoop-age was to get on the telephone with one of our favorite residents of Downton, Matthew Crawley (played by the incredibly awesome Dan Stevens).

(For those wondering why Matthew—well because we just KNOW the Dowager Countess is scared of telephones and any possible vapors they may let off.)

“There’s a couple of thrills and chills still with the war. I don’t think it’s giving too much away to say he gets injured … there’s a lot of heartbreak still to come,” Dan shared, much to our dismay. “He’s definitely not at his lowest point yet and towards the end of the season, I think what will be your episode three and the first part of episode four, is pretty dark, dark place for him. Your episode three, get the box of tissues ready. It’s a pretty tough going.”

As we all know, Ellen DeGeneres is one of the most loved and adored personalities in the entertainment industry and she’s well-known for her constant charitable work. Her latest moment of philanthropy involves 17-year-old Samantha Garvey – an aspiring marine biologist who has managed to become one of the 300 semi-finalists for the annual Intel Science Talent Search – a friendly science competition between high school seniors that grants over $1.25 million in awards and scholarships every year – despite living in shelters with her homeless family.

Garvey has spent two and a half grueling years on her project, which finds her conducting studies on aquatic ecosystems, specifically the effects of the Asian short crab on the mussel population in a salt marsh on Long Island. The 40 finalists are expected to be announced at the end of January.

It’s pretty heartbreaking to hear her talk about her situation, saying it “motivates me to do the work I do. I want a better life. I want a home. I want to show other people that even though you’re going through something bad, there’s a brighter side to everything.”

Paul Rudd

Good news!

America's former stepbrother it now has a crush on, Paul Rudd, will appear in a multi-episode arc on our favorite show on network television, "Parks and Recreation." Rudd debuted on last night's episode as Bobby Newport, Leslie Knope's (Amy Poehler) opponent for city council and an heir to the Sweetums fortune.

Talking to New York Magazine, showrunner Mike Schur said, "He's going to be in a minimum of three episodes, and hopefully more. It depends on his schedule, and whether we can grab him and hold him down until he does more."

Schur also revealed that the character was created specifically for Rudd after he agreed to appear on the show and that the usual casting process wasn't employed when courting Rudd to join the "Parks" team. Rudd has co-starred on the big screen with multiple "Parks" regulars – including Poehler ("Wet Hot American Summer"), Adam Scott ("Our Idiot Brother") and Rashida Jones ("I Love You, Man" and "Our Idiot Brother") – who Schur had contact the star to persuade him to appear. "A bunch of people just e-mailed him and asked if he had time. That's sort of the way we prefer to do it here," Schur said.

Rudd's busy film schedule (he has four films in various states of production) makes setting up times to film difficult, but Schur is willing to work around it. "We broke the episode so we could do a ton of stuff in a short amount of time," Schur told NY Mag. "We did two big scenes and then got him in a room to shoot, like, 50 campaign ads."

What Rudd's run on the show means for Leslie's city council chances remains to be seen… Read More...

Now this is a bit of unexpected news that warmed our hearts a bit.

It seems the fantastic Elizabeth McGovern , Cora, Countess of Grantham on our favorite show in the entire world ever, "Downton Abbey," has a bit of a side career as a singer-songwriter with the band Sadie and the Hotheads, and her "Downton" co-star Michelle Dockery (Lady Mary) likes to join her and her bandmates down at the pub to perform some jazz.

(That we would love to join them both at the pub is another story entirely.)

But now comes word that McGovern, who you might also remember from her turns in 80s hits "She's Having a Baby" and "Once Upon A Time In America," and Dockery are checking their corsets at the door to hit the studio … TOGETHER! The pair are recording an album!

"It’s going to come out later in the year,” McGovern told the UK Telegraph at a private screening of "My Week With Marilyn." Dockery added, “It’s been so much fun. Elizabeth is a great songwriter."

Our head just exploded.

Khloe K

Khloe Kardashian, aka The Okay One, has had enough of the rumors that she is not a biological Kardashian.

There's a long-standing rumor that Khloe is not the biological daughter of the late Robert Kardashian, father to Kim and Kourtney and one-time attorney to OJ Simpson. The rumor got a little more traction after Kris Jenner admitted in her book that she had an affair during her marriage to Robert, and now two of his ex-wives, Jan Ashley and Ellen Kardashian, have spoken to Star magazine about the matter, admitting that Robert may have questioned Khloe's paternity.

"Khloe is not his kid – he told me that after we got married," Ashley tells the mag (via USA Today). For her part, Ellen K. says that Khloe was often the one to bring up the topic. "Khloe brought it up all the time," Ellen says. "She looked nothing like the rest. She was tall, had a different shape, light hair, curly hair. Didn't look anything like the other three children."

This morning on "Good Morning America," Kris Jenner opened up about the controversy, saying, "I've never heard such crap in my life. I gave birth. I know who the dad was." But ultimately, it may be Khloe who has the final say, as she took to Twitter yesterday to admonish her stepmothers for speaking to the tabloid. Read on to see what she had to say! Read More...

Tracy Morgan

It's easily the most self-referential show on television, so it should come as no surprise that "30 Rock" is set to tackle head on the controversy that erupted last summer after star Tracy Morgan made a series of violent homophobic comments during a Nashville comedy show.

During a June 3 standup comedy show at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium, Morgan proclaimed that he would stab his own son if he were gay, criticized the media for promoting a gay agenda, said lesbians were just women who were angry at men and dismissed the wave of anti-gay bullying, which was at the time making headlines following a series of teen suicides, "insignificant."

Following a massive public backlash, the comedian apologized, saying, "I want to apologize to my fans and the gay and lesbian community for my choice of words at my recent stand-up act in Nashville," Morgan said. "I'm not a hateful person and don't condone any kind of violence against others. While I am an equal opportunity jokester, and my friends know what is in my heart, even in a comedy club this clearly went too far and was not funny in any context." Soon thereafter, Morgan teamed up with GLAAD for its "Amplify Your Voice" anti-bullying public service campaign, met with gay teens at New York's Ali Forney Center, the nation's largest organization serving homeless LGBT youth, and traveled to Nashville to apologize to audience members offended by his rant.

Now, rather than pretend nothing ever happened, "30 Rock" creator Tina Fey is set to incorporate the incident into an upcoming episode, according to MSNBC anchor Thomas Roberts, who makes a cameo appearance on the show. "Well, you know how a lot of their episodes mirror their lives. They've incorporated [Morgan's rant] into the Tracy Jordan storyline," Roberts, who is openly gay, told the Huffington Post of the episode. "Liz Lemon writes Tracy's apology on the show and says he's not a homophobe, he's an idiot. That offends idiots, so while NBC is being picketed by the LBGT community, now it's also being picketed by idiots led by Denise Richards. She's the leader of the idiots."

It's a tricky subject for the very-meta "30 Rock" to tackle, but we have faith in Fey, who was as outraged as everyone else by Morgan's comments. Read More...

The first promos for Daniel Radcliffe's hosting stint on "Saturday Night Live" have turned up online and find the "Harry Potter" star in the "SNL" control room with Jason Sudeikis doing his best American accent. ("Chill broseph, I like Mountain Dew and big butts.")

(Of course, we know the truth about Radcliffe's American-ness after his recent brawl with MTV News' very own Josh Horowitz … which you'll find below.)

When Radcliffe stopped by MTV to talk about his creepy new film "The Woman in Black," Josh asked about his gig this weekend at "SNL" and Radcliffe told him that doing the show was a "no-brainer." "I had to think about it a little bit because it's, you know, it's the real deal. You live or die on that show. [But] ultimately it was a no-brainer," Radcliffe said. "I love Seth Myers. Bill Hader, I think is just unbelievable. That Alan Alda impression. Just mind-blowing. … I really wanted to do it. And it's very exciting. And it'll be the kind of stuff I like. Like, that kind of guerilla style of getting stuff done when you just have to get it done and nothing else matters. By the end of the week, you're going to be putting on an hour-and-a-half music and comedy show from scratch."

Check out Radcliffe's "SNL" promo – as well as MTV News' latest "American Talk: Ghost Protocol" with the "HP" star – after the jump. Read More...

Emma Stone

And now, a bit of good news: "30 Rock" returns to the air this week after delaying the start of its season to accommodate new mom Tina Fey, and it already looks to be lining up its usual roster of A-list guest stars, including our favorite young actress, Emma Stone.

Stone will guest on the January 26 episode, Fey tells Entertainment Weekly, as one of Jenna Maroney's (Jane Krakowski) co-stars in "Martin Luther King Day" – a new film "from the producers of 'Valentine’s Day' and 'New Year’s Eve.'" Also starring in "MLK Day" – Andy Samberg and Nick Cannon, who was recently released from the hospital after being treated for "mild kidney failure."

This season of "30 Rock" has a host of other A-listers on tap, from "Up All Night's" returning Will Arnett and Denise Richards to Kelsey Grammer and James Marsden, who has a six-episode arc as Liz Lemon's hot dog-vendor love interest. They'll also address Avery Jessup-Donaghy's life in North Korea following the death of her kidnapper, Kim Jong-il.

We're super excited to see Stone and Marsden on one of our favorite shows. Though we're sad to see "Community" lose its spot on NBC's lineup, we're excited for the network's reworked Thursday night, with Arnett's "Up All Night" and the returning "30 Rock" joining "The Office" and our absolute favorite show on television, "Parks and Recreation." It's a perfect night of television, people – now all you have to do is watch it! Read More...
