Everybody is still talking about last night’s MTV Video Music Awards. The stars sure gave us all a lot to discuss, that’s for sure. From Beyonce’s unexpected baby bump reveal and Lady Gaga’s commitment to her alter ego, Jo Calderone, to Britney Spears’ big tribute and Bruno Mars’ cover of “Valerie” in honor of the late Amy Winehouse, the show brought us some truly historic moments.

But let’s not forget some awards were handed out too, and the stars who won them took their gratitude to Twitter, where everyone from Best Pop Video winner Britney Spears to multiple winner Katy Perry expressed thanks for the recognition.

“Can't believe tonight was even real! Forever grateful to my dedicated, wonderful fans - y'all made this evening possible. Love u!” an overjoyed Spears tweeted after the show.

Best New Artist winner Tyler, The Creator posted multiple profanity-laced (he’d have it no other way) tweets throughout the night, but the always honest MC revealed that he shed a few tears over his win, writing, “I F**king Got It N****. Wanted One Since 9, Did This S**t Alone, OFWGKTA. Moms Crying, Clancy Cried, I Legitly Cried In Tacos Arms.”

Snooki is worried it’s a sign of the impending apocalypse. It made Elizabeth Banks, who is in North Carolina filming “The Hunger Games,” feel like she’s at home in LA. Former New Yorker and “TRL” host Carson Daly sympathizes (kind of). Ian Somerhalder thinks it might have had something to do with Mother Earth being mad at us. And Royce Da 5’9” does not think the magnitude was a coincidence.

Everyone is tweeting up a storm about the big East Coast earthquake. Here are a few choice ones.

Demi Lovato, who recently celebrated her 19th birthday, proves you can't keep a good girl down for long. The singer tweeted that she's ready to hit the stage again after a long hiatus from public performances.

"SO EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE....... MY FIRST TWO CONCERTS!!! I'll be performing at The Hammerstein Ballroom on 9/17 and at Club Nokia on 9/23!" she tweeted on Monday. "Can't wait to see you there!!!"

The "Skyscraper" singer last played shows on her tour with the Jonas Brothers last fall before dropping out of the tour to seek treatment. More recently, she hit the stage at the VH1 Do Something Awards. Her performance was pre-taped, but definitely showed fans that she most definitely has what it takes to vocally knock our socks off. Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus is causing a bit of a ruckus on Twitter after posting a picture of her new tattoo. The pop star’s latest ink is a small equal sign on the inside of her right ring finger that she got in a show of support for gay marriage. She tweeted a photo of the tattoo with the message “All LOVE is equal,” which ignited a storm among Cyrus’ more conservative fans.

Cyrus has long been a vocal supporter of gay marriage and did not back down from her stance (GO GIRL!) when fans began criticizing her choice. “Where does it say in the bible to judge others? Oh right. It doesn't. GOD is the only judge honey. GOD is love," Cyrus tweeted at one upset fan. She later tweeted the quote, “if u don't stand 4 something you'll fall for anything.”

We dig Miley’s simple new ink (and the message behind it), which got us thinking about other celebs who let their fingers do the talking. From Beyonce to Rihanna, quite a few celebs have tattooed their digits. Read More...

Over the weekend, things got a little testy at a Kings of Leon show in Dallas, Texas, after singer Caleb Followill walked off stage complaining of voice problems related to the heat in the Gexa Energy Pavilion. Followill told fans he was going to vomit and grab another beer, after which he would return to the stage to perform three more songs.

When Caleb didn’t come back, brother and KOL bassist Jared Followill informed the crowd that Caleb was “a little unfit” to perform and that fans should “F**king hate Caleb, not us.” After the show, Jared apologized on Twitter, saying, “Dallas, I cannot begin to tell you how sorry I am. There are internal sicknesses & problems that have needed to be addressed. No words.”

A show at Houston’s Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion the following night was also cancelled, prompting yet another response from Jared. “I love our fans so much. I know you guys aren't stupid,” he tweeted. “I can't lie. There are problems in our band bigger than not drinking enough Gatorade.”

While the band certainly owed disappointed fans a reason for the truncated and cancelled shows, making a band’s private troubles public is rarely a good idea. In the past, public tensions have led a variety of bands, including Guns N’ Roses and Oasis, to the brink and ultimately stained their legacies because their legendary troubles are remembered as much as their music. Lady Gaga, unofficial headmistress of Twitter, has reached yet another milestone on the ubiquitous social network. The “Born This Way” songstress now has over 12 million followers. (Justin Bieber is hot on her heels with about 11.3 million.)

So congrats to Mother Monster on amassing one of the biggest fan communities on the Internet. In the spirit of having a little fun, we decided to crunch the numbers and see where else in the larger culture that big total arises.

Gaga’s Twitter following tops the populations of Cuba (11.204 million) and Greece (11.283 million), and there are only six U.S. states that have populations exceeding 12 million (California, Florida, Illinois, New York, Pennsylvania and Texas).

While 12 million is a towering number, it represents just 3 percent of the total number of views for her “Bad Romance” video on VEVO.

When you apply the figure to money, you get to have all sorts of fun. For example, when you go back to your tiny apartment this evening to spray cheese out of a can onto a cracker for dinner, think of Nicole Kidman, who was paid $12 million for a two-minute Chanel No. 5 directed by her “Moulin Rouge” helmer Baz Luhrmann in 2004. Take a minute (or two!) and let that sink in.

Katy Perry can’t believe she's up for nine Moonmen at next month’s 2011 Video Music Awards in Los Angeles. Like, how stoked is she?

"I can't sleep...I'm so excited... It feels like every birthday/christmas/first kiss I ever had. Thanks so much for believing in me," she tweeted. "I owe u."

While she's stunned she garnered so much attention from the VMA gods, she's also a bit surprised some of her pals didn't get as many or any nods at the annual party. After a flurry of tweets about her own nominations, she lamented the fact that a few other artists didn't manage a nomination.

So, who would she have included? "I do miss my RiRi, (s&m) Swifty, (back to dec) Kesha (blow) & Robyn (every vid!) Jessie J, (pricetag) in the/any categories," she tweeted. "#ohmanitstough."
