Big Time Rush already have some "big time" plans heading into the New Year. In February, the boys from the hit Nickelodeon TV show will hit road for their "Better With You Tour." The 16-stop trek will be the band's first U.S. headlining tour, and they'll be promoting their recently released second album, Elevate. The boys spent over a year creating their new album and after looking over the track list, we decided to play a little word association with some of their song titles.

In a "ballsy" attempt to promote her cause for animal rights, more specifically the neutering and spading of dogs, "New Year’s Eve" star Katherine Heigl teamed up with Funny or Die and came up with a ridiculously hilarious viral PSA about her hate of balls. No, not tennis balls or yoga balls … yep, you guessed it – Man Balls.

"It was really the Funny or Die guys that came up with the sketch idea and I have sort of an off-center sense of humor, I guess, and I thought it was really funny," she explained to MTV News at the "NYE" junket. Check it out below:

"I thought it was a great way to make our point and talk about a cause that a lot of people sort of already know about or aren’t that aware of that are probably kind of tired of the same old approach to it so we trying to shake it up a little and catch people’s attention," she added.

In the video, which you can check out after the jump, Heigl spends roughly three minutes discussing how much "terrible, terrible testicles" disgust her. "Unfortunately, I can’t cut the nuts off human men … yet. So I’ve dedicated my time to the neutering of dogs. Cause that's legal!" Read More...

Swedish electronic dance music DJ-producer Tim Berg winds down 2011 seemingly seated on a throne. Under his Avicii stage moniker, he has arguably one of the most popular dance music singles of the year, "Levels," which was recently released by Interscope and has a hilarious music video to accompany it. He sits just above Afrojack at #6 on DJ Mag's list of top 10 most popular DJs on the planet. And more recently, a song he co-produced with David Guetta, "Sunshine," was nominated for a Grammy for Best Dance Recording.

Underscoring the accolade, MTV News caught up with Guetta this weekend, where the dance music icon sang Berg's praises. Check it out below:

“He's an amazing new talent,” Guetta says. "I think he has a great future. In the same way that I met with Afrojack two years ago and was like, 'Wow this kid is amazing!' and I tried to help him as much as I could, last year I met Avicii."

Avril Lavigne recently stopped by the MTV Newsroom to chat all about what she’s working on these days. She touched on a number of subjects, including working with L.A. Reid again, her new single “Wish You Were Here,” her follow-up to Goodbye Lullaby (which she’s currently hard at work on!) and her decade in the music industry (boy, does time fly).

Since we had her around, we also decided to try and sneak in some questions from her fans on Twitter. Avril happily played along and here are some of the fun tidbits she shared with us courtesy of you guys.

At 19-years old, Porter Robinson is already among the most explosive, versatile DJ-producers in electronic dance music. With banging tracks that range from electro house to dubstep to moombahton, Porter has come a long way since MTV News first met the then-18-year-old high schooler from Chapel Hill, North Carolina, with buddies Aero, Tommy Lee, Sofi and deadmau5 at Miami Music Week in March of this year. Since then, he’s dropped his stellar Spitfire EP and toured the U.S. with Tommy Lee, Aero and Skrillex. And when it came time for one of dance music’s biggest icons to hit college campuses across America this September, Porter was handpicked by Tiësto to join him on his "College Invasion Tour." Luckily for us, and you fans, Porter brought along a cameraman to document the last week of his history-making trek. Shot by Kaskade and Insomniac Events’ brilliant cameraman, Justin Nizer, MTV is proud to premiere Porter Robinson’s "The College Invasion Tour" mini-doc, featuring cameos by Tiësto and Diplo ... and MTV News, to name a few.

Check it out below!

Set mainly to joints off of Porter’s Spitfire EP, the short film takes fans through PR’s final west coast dates in September, ranging from an unannounced Santa Barbara show after-party at a house to his record-setting show in Carson before an audience of 26,000 people. Through the film, audiences are treated to the rollercoaster ride of life on the road of a superstar DJ. Wanna know what’s on PR’s rider? How he describes 2011 and his fans? Check out the video above, or tune in at 3:30 AM this Thursday on MTV Clubland (MTV’s block of electronic dance music videos airing Monday through Friday from 3-4 AM EST)! You won’t want to miss it. Howie D wants someone, really anyone, to lie to him in his new video for "Lie To Me." His latest single off his first-ever solo album, Back to Me, is a sweepingly romantic song about heartbreak and loss.

The video follows Howie as he shoots a music video (how meta!), while also trying to reconnect with the woman he thought he'd spend forever with. The look and vibe of the video sort of reminds us of the classic Backstreet Boys video "Shape of My Heart."

The song and video was a long time coming for the Backstreet Boy, who recently chatted with MTV News about the album, which dropped earlier this month. "I started working on this record a little over five years ago. ... I really felt like I wanted to make sure it was the right record," he explained. "I didn't want to rush something out there. I believe that first impression can be the last impression, and the last thing I wanted to do was have people be like, 'Oh, wow, he should be in that box.'"

And if the song and video are vaguely reminiscient of something BSB would have cooked up, well, Howie thinks that's just fine. Read More...

Sofi is climbing the ladder yet again on her new two-part EP Locked & Loaded, which hit the online charts on production pal and mega-producer Deadmau5’s Mau5trap label just a few weeks ago. Part one of the two-installment EP includes "Broken Souvenirs' and "Joyride" both collaborations with dubstep collective and fellow Mau5trap signee Millions Like Us. But while part one is making the rounds in due fashion, buzz is building around the second installment of Locked & Loaded, "Bring Out the Devil" and a collaboration with Skrillex and Kill the Noise, which almost disappeared from the album entirely.

“The tragic story is that we recorded the track about a year ago and his hard drive was stolen, his computer, everything he had was stolen in Italy. He called up Kill the Noise and was like, 'Hey, can you save the day and reproduce the track?' And he did," Sofi told MTV News. "And it was amazing!"

Once the first drafts of "Bring Out the Devil" were lost, Skrillex's demanding touring schedules and Sofi’s tour dates on Deadmau5’s "Meowington's Hax" tour prevented the song from being the first release on the album. So the song took on a new life and a new sound, pairing Sofi’s soft voice with Skrillex’s finishing touches with Kill the Noise smashing out a hard track, combining it all into something musically unique.

Originally slated as the debut track on the first installment of the EP, "Bring Out The Devil" will be released instead on part two of Locked & Loaded, available on iTunes and Beatport on December 5.

"It has that rawness to it," Sofi said. "I feel like it’s such a mash up of things at this point and it’s so hard to pin point just a genre. It's electronic dubstep. I don't know where it’s going. For me personally, I'm just having a good time with it. I'm not really stuck on, ‘Oh my gosh is this dubstep?’ I love this kind of music and I enjoy making it right now." Read More...

Marc Jacobs and Lady Gaga are pals. We’re not gonna lie – that fact makes us a bit jealous, but we digress. The last time we checked in with the fashion designer of our dreams, he revealed how he picks out the celebs he uses as the models in his campaigns and given the fact that Gaga and him are such besties, we’d always imagine her to be a magical muse. Well, whether or not that happens, Gaga does have a 2012 tour to plan wardrobe for, leading us to wonder if she has reached out to Marc yet to design anything for the shows?

“We’re friends. No, no I haven’t spoken to her in a while,” he said when we asked him. “I think the last concert I saw her was in Paris, so I haven’t [spoken to her] in a while since then. Well, I haven’t seen her since then.”

Let's make it happen! Given all the awesome stuff these two have already cooked up together and the fact that they readily hang out with one another (at fashion shows and after parties and the show covers of magazines) we’re hoping to see something Marc Jacobs on Gaga during her "Born This Way Ball."

Kristen Wiig

We kind of figured Kristen Wiig was a smarty pants when we learned she co-wrote the amazingly funny "Bridesmaids," but we had no idea the extent of her genius-like brilliance. (Well, we got a peek when she went toe-to-toe with a particularly spunky teen in that extended jewelry store insult-off from "Bridesmaids.")

It looks like the "Saturday Night Live" standout has figured out how to solve global warming. We can all go home and rest easy now.

Wiig, an ambassador for the Clinton Foundation's Celebrity Division, has all the answers in this Funny or Die skit. Kristen's Global Breathing Initiative – which would require every person on the planet to hold their breath for a minute every day – would be like taking a billion cars off the road because of all the carbon we humans exhale and would feature a celebrity ad campaign "with celebrities holding their breath really sexy." We're totally into it. Check it out after the jump! Read More...
