What brought Carly Rae Jepsen, Justin Bieber and Kelly Clarkson together for this photo op earlier this summer? Well, let her tell the story!

Check out Carly, Justin and Kelly's best telephone pose on Instagram.

"We were at the Capital Ball in London," Jepsen told MTV News. "I met up with [manager] Scooter [Braun] and I went to go say hello to Justin Bieber because we hadn't seen each other in a couple weeks, and I go into his dressing room and I'm like, 'Hey, Justin,' and Kelly Clarkson is there."

And while we don't have the deets behind the following pics we here at MTV News deemed these five our favorite Instagrams of the week:

This snapshot of Carmelo Anthony went Insta-gold after Team USA beat Spain in Olympic basketball Sunday in London. How does victory taste? According to Anthony's Instagram account, it's just like "gold."

If you haven't heard of Cher Lloyd yet, hold on to your seats because she’s about to take the U.S. by storm. She got her start on "The X Factor" U.K. and is currently promoting her single "Want U Back" (which is sitting pretty at #13 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart) in the States.

"I feel like 'Want U Back' explains me,' she told MTV News when visiting nearly 1,000 fans (or, as she likes to call them, "Bratz") at the Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City, New York. "I feel like it has a lot of attitude but in a good way, it's cheeky, I'm quite cheeky and it's young and it's fun."

On Wednesday (August 8), a group of us from the MTV News crew traveled out to Jones Beach on Long Island to meet up with Big Time Rush. The guys gave us an exclusive tour of the venue before their concert that night, and Logan, James, Kendall and Carlos couldn't have been more fun. We got a backstage look, hung out a little bit in their dressing room ... and the foursome just may have stolen a BTR T-shirt for me!

Big Time Rush then brought me onstage (pre-show), where they officially made me an honorary member of the group. But they may have had to rethink that decision after they tried to teach me some dance moves. Let's just say it wasn't pretty!

Be sure to check out our full behind-the-scenes tour coverage with Big Time Rush next week on MTVNews.com!

Proving their hearts are in the right place, the members of Maroon 5 have donated a signed guitar along with two meet-and-greet opportunities – one with frontman Adam Levine on the set of "The Voice" and the other with the full band, including four concert tickets – to a charity auction to raise money for a sick toddler.

The money raised will help pay the medical bills for Zoe Feldman, who turns 3-years-old this month. Zoe was diagnosed with sarcoma botryoides – a form of muscle cancer – and must undergo chemotherapy to treat the condition.

The auction is set up at CharityBuzz.com, and Levine tweeted a link to the auction's page earlier today (August 6), urging fans to bid.

"Hey guys. Auctioning some sweet M5 items @Charitybuzz to benefit our friend #zoefeldman," Levine wrote. "You can bid here … thank you!!!"

Bidding on the Maroon 5 items closes on August 21. The concert meet-and-greet with the band is currently going for $3,800, while the separate opportunity to meet Levine and attend a taping of "The Voice" is up to $3,250.

Kelly Clarkson

By Bryant Gilmore

Everyone knows by now that when you hit up a Kelly Clarkson show, it’s become a tradition for fans to tweet their requests for cover songs that they want the Grammy winner to perform at the show that night.

Recently, she gave us an amazing rendition of Katy Perry’s current chart-topper "Wide Awake" and now, she’s tackled No Doubt with an acoustic version of "Don’t Speak" – and for a few moments after she was finished, we couldn’t. Before she began, Clarkson took time to thank the lucky tweeter because "Don’t Speak" is “one of her favorite No Doubt songs.” She then effortlessly tackled the song with such raw emotion that we almost got confused as to whose song she was singing. Almost.

Check it out:

Clarkson is having quite a year. When she’s not killing it in concert, she’s slaying her fellow "American Idol" alums on the charts. Her song "Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)" was recently named the best-selling single by an "Idol" alum and spent three weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 earlier this year.

But there's even more great news for Kelly. Last week, she received a 2012 MTV Video Music Award nomination for Best Video With a Message for the video to "Dark Side," which is currently working its way up the charts. Make sure you tune in to see if Kelly walks away with her fourth Moonman when the VMAs air live on September 6 at 8 p.m.

Check out the "Dark Side" video below.

Amanda Bynes

Amanda Bynes and her black BMW are making headlines again!

The actress reportedly got into another hit-and-run accident over the weekend, according to TMZ. A Los Angeles woman filed a police report yesterday (August 5) claiming that Bynes rear-ended her, damaging her back bumper. Following a brief conversation, the "Easy A" starlet allegedly drove off without exchanging any insurance information.

The woman stated that when she got out her insurance information Bynes "seemed nervous about that." The 26-year-old actress proceeded to tell her that the damage to her vehicle didn’t seem too bad, so she attempted to push her bumper back into place.

According to the woman, Bynes' BMW was significantly damaged, but the actress drove off without exchanging information.

The actress has been involved in several accidents this summer, including an April 6 collision with a Los Angeles police car that resulted in a DUI charge. TMZ reports she was also involved in hit-and-run incidents on May 5 and May 27.

Bynes has said that she does not drink and even tweeted at President Obama in what seemed like an attempt to get the police officer who arrested her for DUI fired. "Hey @BarackObama... I don't drink," she wrote. "Please fire the cop who arrested me. I also don't hit and run. The end."

Unfortunately for the actress, those earlier incidents were not the end of her vehicular troubles.

Miley Cyrus, Twitter

By Elizabeth Lancaster (@lizzydl)

Miley Cyrus took to Twitter yesterday to debut a series of selfies, showing the world JUST how blonde a brunette can be.

When she ditched her naturally brown mop in July, she explained, "Now that I’m blonde I gotta give duck lips in every photo." Which begs the question what photo face this new platinum look will require? With little to no inhibitions about herself or her lifestyle choices, she always does what she originally promised the world she would do – she's just being Miley.

Check out her new look:

Some may think this new look is in preparation for her impending marriage to one of Hollywood’s most attractive men, Liam Hemsworth, but fear not – the 19-year-old singer told Marie Claire that she plans on having a long engagement.

"Life is too short not to be with the person you want to be with. I don't really care about the wedding or the piece of paper as much as I do the promise we've made to each other. And we want to have a long engagement." Amen!

We cannot wait to see what new hair styles and funky fashions Ms. Cyrus pulls out in the lead up to her wedding to Hemsworth. Blessedly, it seems like we will have lots of time.

What do you think of Miley's platinum hair? Let us know in the comments below!

Eric Prydz

It's one of the hottest topics in the electronic dance music world. As a result of EDM's recent surge in popularity, what exactly it means to DJ has become a much-debated topic.

With deadmau5 confessing that DJs just "press play," A-trak encouraging DJs to challenge themselves and our colleague Jacob at Dancing Astronauts issuing a heartfelt DJ "Call-Out," we recently had a very frank conversation with an electronic music legend, who broke down his thoughts on the art of DJ'ing.

Our good friends at Surrender Nightclub in Las Vegas helped MTV News catch up with Eric Prydz, who just launched into the states in support of is new collection, Eric Prydz Presents Pryda. Here's what the legend had to say!

"I think you need to look at what is 'a DJ set' and what is a 'live show,'" Prydz told MTV News. "If you do a live show, everything needs to be synchronized and it's very hard to go and do a big show where you have your fireworks and you have your visuals and you have your projection cubey stuff, to go up there and improvise. These big shows that you see today, it's not about performing, as such. It's more that you go up there and you show them what you have been performing in the studio, you know, 'cause that's where a lot of these people shine."

He continued, "It's not that much about going onstage and doing something amazing, like juggling with ten balls at the same time. It is actually about just pressing play, I think. Obviously, you will have some control and you can change the music in real time, but it's not like you're standing there and playing all the instruments at the same time."

Prydz believes that actual DJ'ing is very different from what goes on at the large-scale live productions many acts are putting on.

"DJ'ing is something totally different. For me, DJ'ing is turning up to a place not knowing what you are going to play at all. You read the crowd, you kind of say...'OK, I'm going to start with this track, so I think they're gonna like that, and just take it from there,' and try to build and build and build over a longer period of time," Prydz told MTV News. "It's not the festival thing, where you turn up and play a one hour set, but you have two, three, four, five, even six hours. You can build and atmosphere and just drive people crazy, you know? And that, there're not that many DJs these days that can play in that certain way. I think DJs like Sasha and John Digweed were the pioneers of that and they've been a massive inspiration for me. Instead of playing track after track, you know, the big track, the big track, the big track, they use pieces of music as pieces of bricks to build something even bigger. It's two different things: The kind of big live production thing and the actual DJ side of things."

Adam Lambert

Adam Lambert's latest album Trespassing debuted at #1 back in May, and now, nearly three months later, the former "American Idol" contestant is reassuring his dedicated fans that he does plan to hit the road in support of the set … but not until "the time is right."

The glam-pop star hit Twitter last night (August 2) to tell the nation of Glamberts that a Trespassing tour will indeed happen but that they might have to wait a while longer. "Have no fear, a Trespassing Tour WILL come. When the time is right," Lambert tweeted. "Trust me Glamberts! I won't let you down."

Lambert's second album Trespassing topped the charts with 77,000 copies sold in its opening frame. The singer's 2009 debut, For Your Entertainment, entered the chart at #3 and has gone on to sell more than 1 million copies.

Ellie Goulding

by Zachary Swickey

As British singer songwriter Ellie Goulding nears the October release date of her new album Halycon, she is slowly but surely giving us a taste of the upcoming effort. A newly revealed trailer for the album showcases the multitude of styles and influences we can expect to find on the album.

The video provides the first batch of new material from the singer since her 2010 debut Lights, which went number one in the UK upon its release and houses the smash title track, which is still sitting pretty at #5 in the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

The two-minute teaser previews clips of several songs from Halycon.

Check it out:

It’s anyone’s guess if Goulding’s collaborative track with Skrillex and Swedish House Mafia members made the cut. SHM member/collaborator Sebastian Ingrosso wasn’t so sure if the song would even end up on her album, saying, “I think it's going to be for [Ellie's] album, but in this business you don't know until you see it on iTunes."

We got out first very first taste of new material from Goulding early last month when she released a wicked cover of Active Child’s “Hangining On,” which features guest vocals from Brit rapper Tinie Tempah.

Goulding’s first official new single, “Anything Could Happen,” is expected to drop on September 30 before we get Halycon in its entirety on October 8.
