It's MTV's second annual Musical March Madness! MTV News took the 64 biggest names in rock, split them up into four regions, assigned them seeds and puts them up against one another in a single-elimination series of match-ups in a winner-take-all contest. We're leaving it to you to decide an actual champ in this field of 64, so over the next few weeks, fan voting will determine who will emerge as this year's champion. It's all about the fans, and the artist with the most passionate fan base will score the awesome Musical March Madness trophy!

The West bracket has been pretty lively, with many of the tournament favorites making plenty of big noise. Here are the last of the match-ups for the West, so keep voting and tune in tomorrow for the South bracket.

As always, first round voting continues through Sunday night (March 20), and you can catch up with any match-ups you might have missed here.

(7) Red Hot Chili Peppers vs. (10) Death Cab for Cutie
In this particular portion of the bracket, we have two tried and true workhorses who have been a little quiet as of late but who are both about to come back with a vengeance. You'll hear new music from both Red Hot Chili Peppers and Death Cab for Cutie in 2011, and they each have a deep well of hits to carry them through this tournament. Which one moves on?

(2) Blink-182 vs. (15) All Time Low
Despite the fact that their comeback album has been stalled for a while, the individual members of Blink-182 are so productive and successful that they are able to keep their brand name healthy even after the hiatus. But All Time Low are riding high on the success of their 2009 album Nothing Personal and are about to hit the rock world hard again with Dirty Work. Will the teachers stay strong over the students? Vote away!

"We write music that really falls on the line between rock and pop and, a lot of the time, I feel like the deciding factor at the end of the day is how much production happens in post, and with the last one, we feel like maybe it leaned a little too pop for our band."

-All Time Low frontman Alex Gaskarth, commenting on the sound of the band's hit 2009 album Nothing Personal. That's one of the main reasons their new album Dirty Work (which is finished and is scheduled to come out some time in the first half of 2011) has more of a "gritty" sound.

That's not to say that Gaskarth and the band don't love Nothing Personal, which yielded the band's biggest hit in "Damned If I Do Ya (Damned If I Don't)." "No regrets, it definitely was an awesome, awesome album," Gaskarth explained to MTV News' James Montgomery. "It's just one of those things where, I think over the year and a half that it's been out we've sort of been able to approach it from all different angles. When it first comes out, obviously you're really excited about it, and that's all you really pay attention to, but when you have a little time to step away and listen again, you kind of see everything you did right, but everything you'd maybe like to change next time."

"We know how to record now, we know what we want. So we threw everything that we thought was, like, 'great production' against the wall," drummer Rian Dawson said. "And it sounded great, but at the end of the day, we were kind of like, 'This kind of sounds like ...'

"It sounds like unicorn poop," Gaskarth added.

It's no secret that All Time Low's Alex Gaskarth has fallen deep into a summer bromance with fellow tour mate Third Eye Blind frontman Stephan Jenkins on this year's Bamboozle Roadshow. The tour itself ended this past weekend, but thanks to the Internets, various videos of the two performing 3EB's seminal '90s radio anthem "Jumper" have surfaced. This past weekend, the two talked to MTV News about how the collaboration was conceived on the Roadshow.

"Everybody's sort of been jumping on stage for other bands' sets and that's kind of one of the things that have made this tour such a good experience for the bands," Gaskarth explained of the tour's atmosphere. "As I said, I'm a fan of your band," Gaskarth told Jenkins, who has cited Third Eye Blind as one of his major influences, "and I got to come out and sing a song with you guys."

"You sing it into my mic and you sing it really loud because I think you're voice is louder than mine," Jenkins said, mimicking Alex's vocals. "It's powerful!"

"I think it's just because I'm nervous," Alex joked. "It's like when people are nervous and just start yelling."

"It's all about that authentic exchange with the audience," said Jenkins. "To have other people come out and sing and play — that, to me, that's the most fun part of the show."

What do you think of the collaborations? What other collaborations do you think All Time Low or Third Eye Blind should do? Let us know in the comments or tweet us @mtvnews!

It's Musical March Madness! The sprawling bracket — both a parody and a tribute to the NCAA basketball tournament, masterminded by MTV News' James Montgomery — takes the 65 biggest names in rock, splits them up into four regions, assigns them seeds and puts them up against one another in a single-elimination series of match-ups in a winner-take-all contest. We're leaving it to you to decide an actual champ in this field of 65. Over the next few weeks, we will present a series of polls that will allow you to vote for the match-ups presented in MTV News' Band Bracketology. You vote for the winners, we'll keep advancing the seeds and, in the end, we'll have some sort of champion. What will the winner receive? Little more than our esteem (as well as that of the fans) and some Internet bragging rights.

It's the final day of the opening round, and while the polls are still open on a handful of the other races, today's match-ups focus on the South region — perhaps the toughest in the entire tournament. Top-seeded Kings of Leon are a powerhouse, for sure, but can they survive the onslaught from the rest of the pack? Let's take a look at the first two pairings of the day.

(2) Paramore vs. (15) Coheed and Cambria
Paramore narrowly missed scoring a top seed, as they have been on a tremendous streak since last year's release of Brand New Eyes. But Coheed and Cambria are due for a surge, as their new album Year of the Black Rainbow (a prequel to the story told in their other albums due to hit stores on April 13) is a fantastic piece of post-hardcore prog. Both bands have singers with great hair, but which one will advance?

(7) All Time Low vs. (10) Mastodon
Like the above match-up, this is a competition between slick pop shine and brutal execution. Baltimore pop-punkers All Time Low had a great 2009, scoring big with their album Nothing Personal and the single "Damned If I Do Ya (Damned If I Don't)," while Mastodon remain one of the most respected and revered metal bands in the world (driven home by the power of 2009's Crack the Skye). Who will make enough noise to move on to round two?

Last week, All Time Low dropped by to rock the MTV holiday party and also to chat about their crazy tour with Fall Out Boy, their new bra collection and how they plan to spend the holidays. And even though they estimate they played over 300 shows in 2009, they've already gotten a head start on work for 2010, as they recorded a song that is expected to be included on the soundtrack to "Alice in Wonderland," the forthcoming Tim Burton/Johnny Depp joint that promises to be one of the biggest films of next year.

"Until it's 100 percent, I'm still going to say 'tentative,' but yes, we recorded a new song for the soundtrack," said frontman Alex Gaskarth. The untitled tune was written specifically for the movie, though it isn't necessarily a straightforward narrative about the Cheshire Cat. "The song definitely references ideas from the film and from the story, but I wouldn't say that it's obvious," said Gaskarth. "But it's in there, for sure."

It's a good thing the themes of the story are well-known, as the band did not get a sense of where their song would go, nor were they able to see any footage before cutting the tune. In fact, they haven't gotten any sort of Hollywood treatment so far. "We're probably going to have to buy our own tickets to the premiere," joked drummer Rian Dawson. Guitarist Jack Barakat added, "My mom actually asked me if we were going to meet Johnny Depp, and I had to say 'No mom, not unless it's by accident.'" Still, the band is excited for the movie, as well as the rest of their prospects for the coming year.

On Thursday (December 17), MTV News took a break from breaking stories and talking to stars to celebrate the holidays with a little food, a little drink and buckets of good cheer. We were also treated to a killer set from good-time rock band All Time Low, who were celebrating the end of what has turned out to be a killer year for the Baltimore quartet. Their latest album Nothing Personal had a huge debut (it broke into the Billboard album chart in fourth place), spent time on the Warped Tour and headlined their biggest trek yet (the Glamour Kills Tour, on which they were supported by friends We the Kings, Hey Monday and the Friday Night Boys).

MTV News caught up with the band just before their set, and for them, the year's biggest highlights involved undergarments. "We kept all the bras thrown at us," guitarist Jack Barakat explained. "We ended up with over 600 bras." Their goals for the new year include more touring and more writing, but for the immediate future, they just wanted to give a good show at the MTV party.

"We want to rock the sh-- out of it," frontman Alex Gaskarth explained. Drummer Rian Dawson added, "We're really hoping everybody is drunk, because the more you drink the better band we become."

"And the better looking I get," concluded Gaskarth.

Following an introduction by Sway, the band delivered a killer set and kept the volume and the energy high during the party. After the set (which included office favorite "Damned If I Do Ya (Damned If I Don't)"), the group hung out with the staff and toasted to the holidays.

And in case they were curious: Yes, All Time Low, you rocked the sh-- out of it (even if nobody threw any bras).

We may have witnessed the first-ever recorded instance of a musician taking wardrobe hints from a leprechaun when we hit the set of All Time Low's video for "Poppin' Champagne" last week. When frontman Alex Gaskarth saw the green-and-gold suit, complete with buckled shoes and a tiny hat, he remarked, "Hey! We should have gotten me fitted for a matching one!"

In addition to the leprechauns, we also saw zoot suits, ferrets and booty dancing on the set at New York's Touch nightclub. For anyone who's followed the band, it was business as usual, but it was, of course, just that — business. No, the life of a music-video extra is not a glamorous one.

(After the jump, check out my exclusive footage of bassist Zack Merrick!)
