Paging Colonel Sanders! Put on your best hat and sink your teeth into a hot brown sandwich because it's time to live-blog "American Idol's" Kentucky auditions, y'all!

We're three episodes into the eighth season of "Idol," and so far, (cue "The Joshua Tree") I still haven't found what I'm looking for. I have yet to be floored by an audition. I still don't have my Tami Gosnell or Briana Ramirez-Rial or any other singer that I become totally obsessed with and root for all season long. Seriously, the only person I'm rooting for this season is Grandma Furney!

Before we get to the festivities, I want to give a shout-out to MTV.COM user ripitkyle77, who wrote on last night's live-blog, "I checked out Tamarama, the band Jay from The City plays guitar for. They're really good, and he's a pretty good guitar player." Thanks for staying on task ripitkyle77! I appreciate your attention span. (PS - The name Tamarama reminds me of the amazing HBO show, "Summer Heights High," where Mr. G wrote a musical called "Tsunamarama," which told the story of the tsunami using the music of Bananarama.)

7:57 pm - My wife is taunting me by watching today's "Martha" on our Tivo. Doesn't she know that it's "Idol" night? I have to live-blog, honey!

7:58 pm - OMG Martha's making cupcakes. Do you think I'll get fired if I live-blog this instead?

7:59 pm - TV crisis averted. One more minute!!

RuPaulI love working for MTV News because I love music. And as a singer, I knew "American Idol" could be an awesome opportunity, though I wasn't sure about the reality-show scene. But my curiosity won in the end — what was trying out really like? I had to go see what it was all about, so off I went to try out for season eight at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

(Our very own "American Idol" expert, Jim Cantiello, was also curious about the tryouts. Check out his "Idol" audition story here!)

Jim CantielloYesterday, MTV News' "Idol" expert Jim Cantiello announced his intention to audition for the show's eighth season. Now he's blogging the big day, starting with his arrival at Jersey's Izod Center.

8:50 a.m.: Welcome to my "Idol" audition blog. I just took my seat in the Izod Center. I've been up since 3 a.m. There's a dude teaching all bajillion of us auditioners how to sing "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" in unison. He said it was the best it's ever sounded in "Idol" audition history. I'm so pumped, even though I think he was lying!!!

8:59 a.m.: A dude with a tuxedo and a rose just came into our section. He's totally going to propose. Really, buddy? Oops, gotta go. They're having the entire stadium sing Benatar for the cameras.

9:03 a.m.: Sheesh. We just sang the chorus of "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" about 90 times. How am I supposed to audition if my voice is shot from singing oldies all morning???
