With Britney Spears' epic three-night reign in Madison Square Garden concluding last night, MTV News correspondent Tim Kash decided that he'd go over to the Garden and see just how much the diehard Britney fans knew about their favorite pop princess.

As it turns out, the fans perhaps don't know as much about Britney as Tim does (which may be surprising only to people who don't know Tim personally).

Though most fans knew when Britney's birthday is or even came close to knowing the number of times she's performed at the VMAs, the facts the fans knew about other lesser-known aspects of Britney's life weren't as on the ball.

For instance, they weren't sure if Britney was in a girl group, what her second single was or the song she sang when she performed on "Star Search." So, here's your chance to see how much you know Ms. Spears herself. (And if you don't want to cheat, wait until after you take the quiz to watch the video.)

1. When is Britney's birthday?
a) December 5
b) November 3
c) December 2

One of the things that stood out during my trip to the Britney Spears show at New York's Madison Square Garden last night was the variety of merchandise available. After going to the Nine Inch Nails show on Sunday (which had exactly one T-shirt option, and that option was misprinted), it was amazing to see the vastness of Spears' retail offerings. The collection was quite impressive. In addition to the standard T-shirt offerings (including a $40 sleeveless number that seemed to be extremely popular, worn by one of the fans in the video below), there were a number of inventive alternatives. The underwear was most impressive: There was a thong that read "It's Britney, B----" (a catch phrase uttered often in the MSG crowd) and a pair of booty shorts that displayed the title of Spears' controversial single "If U Seek Amy." Some of the choices were slightly more confusing, like the tattered green military-style hat. I saw it at a merch stand when I was walking into the venue and thought it was something that nobody would ever buy, but those things were everywhere. There was also a jersey-style pink T-shirt that read "It's Britney" on the front and "Yo Mama" with the number 22 on the back. (The "Yo Momma" phrase also showed up on a pair of shorts.)

But the topper was certainly the black Circus-themed jacket that had Spears' name on the front and a gothic script "B" on the back. The price? $150, and they were moving like hot cakes. But when MTV News talked to somebody who purchased the item, we found that it was an incredibly high-quality garment. Britney clearly knows her audience is fashion-conscious and won't settle for anything less than top-quality merchandise that can slide into their regular rotations — another savvy move that makes the Circus tour one of the most impressive spectacles of the year. Last night, I did something I never thought I would do: I left the office, took the subway to Madison Square Garden and showed my ticket to an usher so that I could be let into the Britney Spears concert, the second of her three Circus stops in New York this week. The idea was to get the perspective of somebody not used to big spectacles, and I walked away educated and confused but — ultimately — pleasantly surprised.

Not only had I never seen Britney Spears live, but I also have very little experience with giant pop shows or even arena acts. I've lived in New York for 10 years and have been to Madison Square Garden countless times for basketball games, but prior to last night the only concerts I had ever seen there were R.E.M., AC/DC and an ill-advised Barenaked Ladies show (that one was for a girl). Britney certainly blew away each of those groups (even the heavy-on-pyro AC/DC) with the spectacle that is the Circus tour.

For the complete blow-by-blow, you should really check out Jocelyn Vena's full show report from Monday night as well as Jim Cantiello's reactions and highlights, but here are a few things that stood out to me.

» Britney Spears Knows Showmanship
Even during the best rock shows, there will always be a song or two that don't mean as much to you as the rest of them (there are always exceptions). Usually, that's the time to go back to the bar, hit the bathroom or text your friends about what a great show it is, but Britney gives you options. Not a big fan of "Piece of Me"? There are plenty of dancers to distract you. Can't stand "Ooh Ooh Baby"? No worries — magician and former "Saved by the Bell" cast member Ed Alonzo is here to perform some magic. Also, I was seriously impressed with how she covered all areas of the stage so that no corner of the arena could say they got any more or less Britney than anybody else.

» Britney Spears Is Adored
I've spent my entire life going to concerts and sporting events, but rarely have I heard the sort of sustained frenzy that I heard last night. Read More...

Over the last few years, Britney Spears has tried a number of hair colors. Whether she's blonde, brunette or even pink, the pop star can never be accused of not changing it up, for better or worse.

So when Britney popped up with brown hair again earlier this summer, it seemed like she had tired (once again) of her signature blonde locks. That is until yesterday when pictures emerged online of Britney going back to blonde … again.

The singer, who is currently circling the planet on her "Circus" tour, tweeted about the new life development saying, simply, "Blondes do have more fun."

For those of you who want the 411 on the change, the word is that Britney spent nine hours working on her hair color (and presumably getting extensions) at Andy LeCompte's salon in West Hollywood (so say reports on the Insider). She later debuted the big look with a night out on the town in Los Angeles at the Grand Star Jazz Club, sporting not only the new hair but also a little black dress.

Britney's Circus tour wouldn't have been complete without her barely there bodysuits, glitter, hats, feathers and pasties. The Britster's costumes ran the gamut of sexy: she was a corseted cop, a domineering drill sergeant, a ringmaster in red and even a fire-wielding welder in a sleek black one-piece.

But most fans seemed to rate Brit's costumes in terms of how they complemented her body, which has been under a microscope since Britney hit the public eye. "She rocked the house with her body!" Dawn Carson said of Spears' fashion.

These were the overwhelming favorites at Brit's Pittsburgh concert Saturday:

5. Welder Britney
Britney hit the stage as a sexy welder in a slimming black one-piece, sunglasses and ankle boots for "Do Something" and "Slave 4 U." "She's keeping up with the latest fashion trends in this look," one fan said. "It made her look really cool."

Britney Spears

The only thing missing behind the scenes at Britney Spears' Circus tour is a clown car. And who knows, maybe they've got one of those hidden around here somewhere ...

Minutes after Britney and her entourage arrived (at precisely 6:32 p.m. local time, btw) in a fleet of black SUVs, I was escorted through a labyrinth of corridors beneath the New Orleans Arena, past stagehands pushing platforms, dancers limbering up, crates of wardrobe, stressed-out makeup techs and stern-looking security guards to the nerve center of the entire operation: Britney's dressing room.

Of course, no photos were allowed, and I wasn't even here to talk to Britney ... I was there with the night's opening act, the Pussycat Dolls.

The Dolls were a bit tired -- after all, they had just flown in from Eastern Europe last night, and they were still working the kinks out of the evening's routine -- but I managed to ask them about the challenges of performing on an “in the round” stage, which gives the audience a 360-degree view of the action.

"The problem is, someone in the audience always has a view of your heiney," lead Doll Nicole Scherzinger explained.

Good to know. And while we'll have more on our chat with PCD tomorrow, I have to jet ... we're being led up to the press box right now. Looks like the Circus is about to begin!

Britney SpearsThe new Britney Spears documentary "For the Record" aired last week on MTV, and millions tuned in to get a read on the pop star's condicition these days.

After all, for the last few years, it's been impossible not to see the pictures and videos of Britney's well documented downward spiral — the shaving of her head, the constant harassment by the paparazzi, her somewhat questionable associates, and of course the tragic night Britney was wheeled out of her house by paramedics in front of the world — so the film was really the first real inside look into the life of the world's most famous pop star.

It was a really good documentary, but then again, how could it not be? The subject matter is, after all, the ever-controversial Britney Spears. The film started off with a brief written explanation that Britney had invited a camera crew to follow her for 60 days in which no question would be off-limits.

Personally. I wonder just how many hard-hitting questions were asked, but that's a different conversation ... which brings me to the point of this post. Read More...

When I was asked to participate in an MTV special in which I'd discuss the Britney Spears documentary "For the Record" with some of her biggest fans, I was excited but super-nervous about the freaks I'd no doubt meet. I figured it'd be a bunch of Chris Crocker clones and possibly even that dude with the dollhouse on his head.

Thankfully, the MTV casting department did a helluva job finding devoted Spears fans who were intelligent, well-spoken, witty and totally not nuts. They were not simple sycophants who blindly worshipped every little thing their idol has ever done. They acknowledged Brit's missteps, criticized some of her past decisions and had unique insights into her career. Read More...

Britney SpearsYou've heard "Womanizer" nonstop by now, but what else does Miss Britney Spears have to offer to Circus-goers? Today, the singer released the cover art for her upcoming sixth studio album, due out on her birthday, December 2.

Spears also announced that the next single will be the title track, "Circus," produced by Dr. Luke and Benny Blanco. It's the second cut on the album, after "Womanizer." The rest of the songs under Britney's big top include "Out From Under," "Kill the Lights," "Shattered Glass," "If U Seek Amy," "Unusual You," "Blur," "Mmm Papi," "Mannequin," "Lace and Leather," "My Baby" and as a bonus track, "Radar."
