On Saturday night (November 14), all eyes were on Las Vegas and the boxing match between WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto and Filipino phenom Manny Pacquiao. The challenger started off shakily, but it was all Pacquiao from the second round on. He consistently knocked Cotto to the mat, and the fight probably could have been stopped as early as the eighth round. But the referee finally waived off the fight in the 12th and final round, giving Pacquiao the victory and his seventh championship belt (he's won one in seven different weight classes).

The night drew a number of huge stars to the MGM Grand Arena, including Mark Wahlberg, Will Ferrell and Diddy, who tweeted throughout the night from his seat at ringside. "I got Cotto in a upset," he wrote before the fighters touched gloves. As the night went on, Diddy changed his tune. "This is ugly live! A lot of blood," he wrote. "Somebody's gonna have a headache!" A few minutes later, he tweeted, "They need to stop this fight before he gets hurt," likely referencing Cotto.

But Pacquiao's night didn't end with him hoisting another belt over his head and knocking the bigger, stronger Cotto for a loop. Pacquiao is not only a superstar boxer but also a film mogul and musician, and he performed in a concert only a few hours after the fight ended. Still sporting facial injuries and with a bandage wrapped around his right ear, Pacquiao seemed no worse for wear when he belted out tunes at his own post-fight show, which was held a few blocks away at Mandalay Bay.

So this guy pounded out 12 rounds of pugilistic genius, got cleaned up, walked down the strip and performed to a sold-out crowd. What did you do on Saturday night?

Another week has come to a close here in the MTV Newsroom, and it's been an especially busy one. We saw some fascinating video premieres, a few great album previews, some hilarious interviews and at least one modeling lesson for one of our staffers. Before you hit the town to sing karaoke or go to a screening of "2012" (because the stupid Adirondack Mountains have had it coming to them for a while), check out everything you might have missed this week.

» This week was all about Taylor Swift. She brought big laughs on "Saturday Night Live," and then swept the CMA Awards. And just for good measure, producer Butch Walker paid her a tribute with a cover of "You Belong With Me."

» Kanye West probably didn't like this year's CMA Awards broadcast, but he can take solace in the fact that he would make the ideal Super Bowl performer.

» Veteran rock band Aerosmith threatened to come apart at the seams several times this week, so we provided a few helpful suggestions for possible Steven Tyler replacements.

» Looking to find some old, inexpensive music this weekend? Try some semi-forgotten albums from Air and the Strokes, as featured in the new edition of "Bargain Spins."

» New music from two "American Idol" artists got the preview treatment from Jim Cantiello, who really liked Kris Allen's self-titled debut but thought that Allison Iraheta's forthcoming record was a little less promising.

Justin Bieber fans should give themselves a big pat on the back. It seems like the fan campaign, launched via Twitter, to get Diddy to collaborate with the rising pop star just got off the ground. Both Justin and Diddy tweeted a video yesterday of the two of them spending two days together. Sure, it's not the music video fans were hoping for, but it's certainly a start.

Justin tweeted, "It's official. New video. 48 HRS with Justin Bieber and Diddy." In the video, "Justin Bieber's 48 HRS with Diddy," Diddy promises the 15-year-old singer the keys to a gleaming Lamborghini as soon as he turns 16. Of course, Bieber doesn't let him off so easy.

"I mean I'm 15, you can ride in the passenger seat," he tells Diddy. "I've got my permit." Diddy doesn't take the bait, but does make another promise to the young singer.

"Then when you're 18 you get the house, you get the mansion," Diddy says (we're totally holding him to that).

Diddy added that he couldn't really disclose where they were hanging out or what they were doing (could they possibly be recording together?), but does say "It's definitely a 15-year-old's dream." The push to get Diddy to work with Bieber started right after this year's MTV Video Music Awards, where the two met for the first time. Following the show, Justin asked the music mogul via Twitter whether he wanted a song he produced and sang for his next record. Justin enlisted his fans to help get Diddy's attention with more tweets, suggesting that they make "#diddyandbieber" a trending topic.

Neither Diddy nor Bieber explicitly talk about producing any music during their 48 hours together. Instead, they hint that they've got their mind on ... other things.

"Whachya wanna do over the next 48 hours?" Diddy asks Justin in the video.

"Let's just go get some girls," Justin responds.

"A man after my heart, that's what I'm talking about," Diddy says. Well, at least they're collaborating on something.

If you happen to pass by Sean Combs, be sure to wish him a happy birthday, as the man better known as Diddy turns 40 years old today. While it's bizarre to think if Diddy as a guy in the depths of middle age, it's also odd to think that he isn't older. Diddy has been such a dominant, ubiquitous force in pop culture since the '90s that it's almost as if he has always been with us. There have been countless highs (smash hits like "It's All About the Benjamins," "I'll Be Missing You" and "Bad Boy for Life") and devastating lows (most notably the death of his friend the Notorious B.I.G.), but he has certainly changed the face of hip-hop and gave rise to the idea of diversification among pop stars. He's dabbled in fashion, fragrances, restaurants and alcohol, and his empire is constantly expanding.

They say hip-hop is a young man's game, though that's mostly because the art form itself is only about 30 years old. Still, there aren't a whole lot of artists who are aging as gracefully as Diddy is, though a handful of these 40-and-over elder statesmen join him. (Jay-Z enters the club in December.)

We already know that last month's MTV Video Music Awards brought together host Russell Brand and Rivers Cuomo collaborator Katy Perry. Now it seems like a professional relationship might have got its start that night at Radio City Music Hall.

Yesterday on Twitter, Justin Bieber approached Diddy about a collaboration. "Do you want this song I produced and sing on on your album?" he asked the legendary hip-hop mogul. He then followed up with a series of tweets to try to rally his followers. "Everyone tell @iamdiddy we need to make this J Bieber / P Diddy collab song happen," he wrote. He later re-tweeted a note from one of his followers that suggested that people on Twitter make "#diddyandbieber" a trending topic.

Clearly, his persistence paid off, as Diddy responded to one of Bieber's tweets. "Send me the song," Diddy wrote. "I'll check it out. Thanks."

Could we be hearing Bieber's voice on Last Train to Paris, or might Diddy be dropping some knowledge on Bieber's full-length debut? No matter what becomes of this new team-up, we can safely say that MTV News provided the platform for their first meeting. During the VMA Pre-show, Sway talked to Bieber and Diddy (accompanied by Dirty Money) simultaneously, noting that it was the first time the two had crossed paths. Though they didn't converse during the segment, they did agree that it was important to carry on the legacy of Michael Jackson. Check out the opening minutes of what could be a fruitful professional relationship.

Last night on Twitter, Diddy announced his latest interactive venture: An iPhone app. It teams him up with BlackBook magazine to provide city guides for 50 different metropolei around the world. Using the iPhone's GPS chip, the app will figure out where you are and then tell you all about the nearest Diddy-approved restaurants, hotels, bars and clubs. Most major American cities are represented (as well as luxury spots like Park City, Aspen and the Hamptons) as well as a number of international spots (Paris and Milan, sure, but also Sao Paulo, Shanghai, Cabo San Lucas and Dubai, among others).

"BlackBook has invested in making sure that when it's time to play, you know where the fun is," the app's description reads. "We asked ourselves, who is the one person on this planet who has even more access than BlackBook? The answer, we realized, was not a person at all — more like an empire."

BlackBook is a publication that serves a pretty high-end clientele, and considering Diddy is a jet-setting mogul (and on the cover of BlackBook's October issue), the recommendations tend to skew towards luxury establishments like Jean Georges (a super-chic eatery in Trump Tower), get after-dinner drinks at 1Oak (a swanky lounge with a very loud Web site) and of course shop at the Sean John anchor store.

The app is available for free from the App Store on iTunes, and all told it's an interesting look into what it's like to live like Diddy.

Admit it: It would be a little unusual to see all six-and-a-half feet of Jay-Z with his legs behind his ear. But according to the chart-topping Brooklyn rapper, we may see that sooner rather than later. The hip-hop mogul recently stated that Coldplay frontman (and collaborator and friend) Chris Martin has accelerated his interest in practicing yoga. "Chris hasn't tried to get me to do yoga yet but I am close to doing it," Hova said. "I'm envious of what he can do on stage. Watching him is amazing, he can really move. I want to be able to move like that, get my leg behind my ear, things like that."

Jay-Z never fails to let us know why he is considered one of the best in the game. He has kicked out 11 #1 studio albums (beating Elvis' record), put a huge ring on the hottest chick in the game's finger and now he might try to conquer the yoga game. Maybe he wants to loosen up for a dance-off with Beyoncé? Maybe he wants spice things up at home? Whatever the case, he is not the only rapper to pick up yoga.

Def Jam co-founder Russell Simmons is a strong advocate for yoga in hip-hop. "It affects what everybody raps about," he has said. Simmons added that Diddy has also attended his yoga classes. "It's not full of rappers yet, but we're hopeful." Perhaps Simmons can soon add Jay-Z to the guest list.

What do you think: Should Jay-Z practice his downward dog or should he leave the dolphin poses to Chris Martin? Leave your thoughts in the comments or head over to Your.MTV.com to make your voice heard!

We're still a few hours before the 2009 Video Music Awards begin, but plenty of superstars are already getting ready for tonight's show, which airs live from Radio City Music Hall at 9 p.m. (with the preshow, featuring all the awesome arrivals and fashion, starting at 8). How do we know? They're already tweeting about it. Diddy just announced a few minutes ago that "Dirty money has started getting dressed for the vma's."

Elsewhere in the Twittersphere, a bond has already started between Taylor Swift and Katy Perry. Perry tweeted, "I hear ur dressing room is next door to me! Just know if you need to borrow a cup o' sugar, I'm your girl. Good luck 2day doll." Swift was flattered by the shout out, so she tweeted back to Perry, "I'm gonna come say hi as soon as I get back there. I love you like I love sparkly dresses."

Pete Wentz already arrived and gave a shout out to the huge crowd of fans still gathering outside Radio City Music Hall. "The crowd outside Radio City is awesome. Thanks guys!" He even posted a photo of said crowd.

Meanwhile, a handful of artists are using Twitter to solicit last-minute votes for their friends in the Best New Artist race. Perry struck again, tweeting, "It's the final hour ppl!!!! Go vote for 3oh3 one last time. lezzz do this." Justin Bieber had a different endorsement. "Vote RIGHT NOW for my friend and labelmate ASHER ROTH on the VMAs 2nite for BEST NEW ARTIST. See you guys 2nite!!" he tweeted.

We'll be bringing you more Twitter updates throughout the evening, and be sure to check out MTV Twitter correspondent iJustine during the preshow to track all of the hot activity across the Twitterverse tonight.

The MTV Video Music Awards has had many homes since its inception in 1984. It lived in Miami for two years, spent some time at various venues in Los Angeles and even made a chaotic sojourn to Las Vegas in 2007. But spiritually, its home has always been New York City. The very first awards were held at Radio City Music Hall, the VMAs New York City home for all but the two years when it was at the Metropolitan Opera House. Whenever the VMAs come to New York, the show always gets a great reception from the Big Apple's biggest residents. Are they just as excited about this year's show as they have been in year's past? New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg, Santigold, Mary J. Blige and Diddy all seem pretty amped.

And Queen Latifah is right: Anybody in town for this weekend's festivities really should make a sojourn to Gray's Papaya for the Recession Special. And if you can't make it out to Radio City Music Hall for the big event, you can still tune in Sunday night at 8 p.m. for all of the stars, performances, fashion and outrageous moments that not only define the Video Music Awards but also the host city of New York.

Her album may be delayed, but Mariah Carey's fragrance is right on time. Yesterday, she revealed the new poster for her forthcoming new perfume, which is called "Forever." She's no stranger to the scent game, as "Forever" (named after a Carey song of the same name from the Daydream album) is the singer's third perfume (following "M" and "Luscious Pink"). She told People magazine, "Fragrance is so personal, and 'Forever' captures that glamorous feeling that I want to share with my fans." The new scent is described as having "notes of lotus blossom, tuberose, gardenia, exotic woods and white musk." (I initially thought tuberose was something Carey had made up, but it turns out it's a real flower.)

Carey's past fragrances have sold extremely well (and have actually smelled delightfully pleasant and subtle). But she should step lightly with this one, because naming anything "Forever" in the music world tends to end poorly. The Spice Girls used that title for their third album and broke up shortly thereafter (following weak album sales). Diddy suffered the same fate when he dropped is album Forever in 1999, which landed with a thud despite the fact that it was a hotly-anticipated follow-up to his smash No Way Out. (He clearly learned nothing from that fiasco, as his R&B project Day26 called their second album Forever in a Day.) And though Kid Rock's album Cocky ended up doing big sales, its initial impact was weak thanks to a single called "Forever."

Obviously, the "Forever" curse isn't iron-clad, as Carey's "Forever" single was wildly successful and Wu-Tang Clan dropped an album called Wu-Tang Forever that may have been inconsistent but still sold like gangbusters (which perhaps only proves the fact that Ol' Dirty Bastard is sort of bulletproof). And obviously the fragrance world and the music universe run on different rules, so it's likely that "Forever" will do just as well as Carey's other scents. But if something goes awry, we'll know why.
