Look, we all know what you're doing this weekend. You're not preparing for Thanksgiving, raking the last of your leaves before the snow arrives or indulging in this year's batch of Beaujolais Nouveau. Rather, you're going to be at your local cinema watching Taylor Lautner's perfectly-sculpted abdominal muscles in "The Twilight Saga: New Moon." And we can't blame you — it's a heck of a roller coaster ride through teenage angst and vampire mythology. But in between screenings (because you're obviously seeing it more than once), you should catch up on everything you missed this week here on the Newsroom blog.

» Last weekend saw a couple of cool-looking flash mobs in honor of Janet Jackson's Number Ones, and we had a first-person account from one of the dancers. (Be sure to catch Janet this Sunday on the American Music Awards, where she'll open the show.)

» MTV mourned the passing of comedian, TV producer and "Remote Control" host Ken Ober with classic clips and testimonials from friends.

» Rihanna premiered the hotly-anticipated video for "Russian Roulette," which really made us think about the head wound Balthazar Getty received in a David Lynch movie.

» Are you a hardcore fan of Adam Lambert, Kris Allen or Allison Iraheta? Make sure you enter our photo contest, with the winner receiving an autographed copy of the new issue of Elle magazine, which features all three!

» There was no shortage of other "American Idol" news this week. For example, we now know why Kris Allen changed his Twitter name.

To celebrate the release of Janet Jackson's new compilation album, Number Ones, fans gathered Saturday for three Flash Mobs that took place in various locations in Los Angeles to dance and pay tribute to some of the veteran diva's best dance moves and songs. The events were produced by Flash Mob America, who posted the locations of the mobs on its Twitter page throughout the day. Hundreds of people gathered to watch, but it was the second Flash Mob stop that grabbed headlines. Soon after launching into their performance at Los Angeles shopping center the Grove, the performers realized that Janet herself was watching the mob from a balcony above the fray.

Joleen Nordstrom was one of those dancers, and she shared her story with the Newsroom:

The first Flash Mob went off flawlessly. The screeching noise at the beginning of the song started, and the Grove shoppers wondered, "What is going on, and why isn't someone fixing it?" The person standing next to me said, "Look at those people grabbing their heads!" I responded, "I know. Crazy!" — right before I started the Janet march and yelled the "huuhs," and we broke out into the dance.

Every day a multitude of stars wanders through the halls of MTV News to talk about their latest projects and goof around with our intrepid correspondents. But sometimes we catch stars elsewhere, and that's why we put together Spotted!, a daily compendium of stars in the wild.

Has anybody promoted his debut album better than Justin Bieber? The precocious 15-year-old posted some footage of him singing on the Internet, inspired a bidding war between Justin Timberlake and Usher (the latter won), amassed a ton of Twitter followers and Facebook friends, dropped a series of catchy singles (including the latest one, "Favorite Girl") and appeared on just about every television show available to musicians. Bieber's debut album My World hits the streets tomorrow, and Bieber kept up his push up on Sunday (November 15) with an appearance on "Good Morning America." He performed his first single "One Time" live on the show, and then when the cameras stopped rolling he sang a pair of Ne-Yo songs: "Because of You" and the new "Never Knew I Needed" (which is from the upcoming Disney animated film "The Princess and the Frog"). He won over yet another crowd (both live in the studio and on television), which bodes well for the debut of Bieber's album.

Bieber wasn't the only star who put in some work over the weekend, as Rihanna showed up in London to prepare for a big concert event and Janet Jackson appeared in Los Angeles to check out one of the flash mobs paying tribute to her. Click here for these photos plus the entire "Spotted!" archive, which includes over 350 candid shots of stars like Britney Spears, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake, Adam Lambert, Katy Perry, the Jonas Brothers and Madonna!

On Saturday night (October 24), the Ultimate Fighting Championship returned to Los Angeles' Staples Center for the first time since 2006 for UFC 104, a pay-per-view event headlined by Lyoto "The Dragon" Machida and Mauricio "Shogun" Rua in a match for Machida's light heavyweight championship. (The champion retained in a unanimous decision despite the fact that Rua did far more damage and was the aggressor for most of the fight. It was one of the greatest robberies in UFC history.) Because UFC often attracts celebrities and because the show was in Los Angeles, there were a number of famous attendees at Saturday night's show. Fight enthusiast Ashton Kutcher was there with wife Demi Moore, and "Entourage" star Jeremy Piven was in attendance as well. Also spotted in the crowd? Janet Jackson, whose late brother Michael was also a UFC supporter (he was sometimes spotted at shows in Las Vegas). And sitting behind Jackson was fellow musician and grappling fan Will.I.Am of the Black Eyed Peas.

Jackson and Will.I.Am weren't the only stars out in Los Angeles over the weekend. Katy Perry celebrated her birthday with boyfriend Russell Brand at a costume party in West Hollywood on Saturday night, while Sunday saw Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato visit the Nokia Theater for Disney's annual Concert for Hope. Click here for these photos as well as the rest of the "Spotted!" archive, which includes over 300 candid shots of Britney Spears, Madonna, Beyoncé, Drake, Lil Wayne, Lady Gaga, the Jonas Brothers, Adam Lambert and Tokio Hotel!

The giant grandfather clock in the MTV Newsroom will sound its final bells at any moment, which means it's time to remedy that terrible short-term memory and take a look back at the week that was here on the Newsroom blog. As the calendar switched from September to October and the fall weather began to descend, Kanye West remained in the headlines, Madonna ate pizza and zombies were everywhere. Want to have an instant nostalgia trip? Just keep reading.

» The "Fame Kills" tour — starring Kanye West and Lady Gaga — got put on the back burner, but that won't stop Gaga from doing her own shows.

» Madonna and David Letterman had a civil interview and then sat down for a slice.

» Jennifer Hudson celebrated the anniversary of "The Wizard of Oz" with a stirring rendition of "Over the Rainbow" live in Central Park.

» Adam Lambert has already sold a ton of albums, even though the record in question has no title or single. But that's okay, because he's driving people to donate to public schools.

» Before she got sick and had to cancel a bunch of Paramore shows, Hayley Williams wore a tank top on "The Tonight Show" that looked awfully familiar to us.

The biggest event at Fashion Week in Milan wasn't the debut of a new line or the arrival of the next great designer. Rather, it was a star-studded auction hosted by Janet Jackson for the benefit of the American Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR). All told, the auction raised a total of $1.1 million for the charity, which is an organization that funds scientific inquiry and research in to HIV and AIDS.

The first highlight of the event — which cost anywhere from $2,200 to $11,500 just to get in the door — was the sale of a pair of Swarovski crystal-studded boots that were owned by the late Michael Jackson. Janet's brother had planned on wearing the footwear on stage at London's O2 Arena during his planned residency there, and they fetched a total of $14,650.

The second highlight came later in the evening, when Kanye West (with girlfriend/model Amber Rose by his side) got into a bidding war with Diesel designer Renzo Rosso over a custom-made leather jacket produced by the DSquared2 label. Rosso ultimately prevailed with a winning bid of $52,740. (Luckily, Rosso didn't have to take the stage to formally accept the jacket.)

Janet Jackson has been in Milan for a week working at a number of events for amfAR. But she hasn't forgotten about her day job, as her new single "Make Me" is now for sale via download. Meanwhile, sales are already through the roof for "Michael Jackson's This Is It," the film culled from the hours of footage recorded during rehearsals for Michael's O2 residency. That film comes out on October 28 for two weeks only — and tickets are clearly going fast.

"It was very emotional for me and I was trying not to cry. And I got choked up a few times. It gave me goosebumps. I thought [the dancers] looked incredible. They had just learned it. [It's] just like you're seeing all these carbon copies of your brother, and because he left such an impression with his style on so many different generations — and, still, this generation — and to see them try to mimic him to the T and doing an incredible job at it as if he was the one that taught them — 'No, this is how you do it' — and to see them look so close to his movement, it just touched me. It really touched me."

-Janet Jackson discussing the deep emotional journey she went on while creating the tribute to her brother at the MTV Video Music Awards. Janet gives a candid interview and takes viewers behind the scenes in "The Making of Janet Jackson's Video Music Awards Tribute Performance," which airs Saturday (September 19) at 12:30 p.m. on MTV. The show will include a lengthy sit-down with Jackson as well as footage of the planning and rehearsal stages.

Over the 25 year history of the MTV Video Music Awards, there has rarely been a more stirring and emotional introduction to the show than this year's tribute to Michael Jackson. The show began with a spoken introduction from Madonna, who recounted her appreciation for Jackson and told the story about the time they spent together.

What followed was a performance for the ages: A series of dancers came out to re-enact some classic Jackson moves before Janet Jackson joined them to sing her part of "Scream" (the only duet she ever recorded with her late brother) and mirror his dance solo in the middle of the famous music video for the track.

Of course, the performance didn't come from nowhere, as Janet and the rest of the dancers went through intense rehearsals to make it into an ideal tribute to Michael's legacy and memory. "The Making of Janet Jackson's VMA Tribute Performance," which airs Saturday at 12:30 p.m. on MTV, will provide an exclusive look behind the scenes and take you from the tribute's inception to its final execution.

As you can see from this exclusive preview, paying homage to one of the most iconic dancers in pop history takes a considerable amount of focus and effort.

The final version of the performance was supremely polished and ran through many of Michael's hits, including "Thriller," "Bad," "Smooth Criminal" and finally "Scream." The dancers were dressed in costumes that represented different fashion eras of Michael's life and incorporated all of his stylistic touchstones, from the white socks to the red leather jacket — save for Janet, who came out wearing a futuristic-looking outfit that matched the style of the classic "Scream" video. "It's the most fun I ever had," Jackson said of the performance. "And I know he was watching."

Last night's MTV Video Music Awards were a star-studded affair that featured dozens of memorable moments, from Kanye West's stage-crashing appearance to Jay-Z's performance to Eminem helping Tracy Morgan become Best New Artist to Janet Jackson paying tribute to her brother Michael. One of the events that is sure to become iconic in Video Music Awards history was the arrival of Lady Gaga and her very open displays of affection with her date Kermit the Frog. The pair arrived together in a car and later bantered with MTV News' own Sway, who inquired about what Miss Piggy thought about this new relationship. Kermit downplayed it, though Gaga admitted, "Miss Piggy has been sending me some pretty funny text messages."

Of course, Gaga and the Muppets were only the first scene-stealers of the night. Madonna moved the audience with her heartfelt speech about Michael Jackson, Jack Black frightened Leighton Meester with his fake muscles and metal voice, Lady Gaga stunned the crowd with her theatrical performance of "Paparazzi," Beyoncé classed it up by offering Taylor Swift her acceptance speech time back and Jay-Z tore the house down with an assist from Alicia Keys. Click here for these photos, plus even more shots of stars at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, including Eminem, Russell Brand, Katy Perry, Diddy, Pink, Green Day and Janet Jackson.

From taking the Staten Island Ferry out to Governors Island for the first time to seeing Asher Roth and N.E.R.D. play an awesome outdoor concert in front of a couple hundred people to chopping it up with Santigold, Mary J. Blige and Pharrell Williams, these last couple days have been non-stop.

Today was the big MTV Video Music Awards media forum at Radio City Music Hall, an annual event where the country's top radio stations all converge in a huge makeshift media room in the basement of the legendary venue.

Sway, who is an old pro at doing radio both as the host and the interviewee, offered me some sound advice as we braved the rain and walked a few blocks from the MTV News headquarters in Times Square to Radio City. "Just do you!" he said, sounding a little Nike commercial-esque. But then again, he does know best.

The room was a maze of tables operating as temporary radio stations, with all the artists moving from interview to interview. Kid Cudi, Ryan Leslie, Fabolous, Raekwon, Jay Sean, Wale, Melody from the Pussycat Dolls, DJ Cassidy, Twista and a whole host of others were all hard at work talking VMAs, new projects and — in the case of the Las Vegas stations — downing shots of tequila as well. That's just how they do it in Vegas.

From Detroit to Philadelphia, I spoke with as many radio shows that would have me, and the everyone wanted to know three things: What's Lady Gaga going to be wearing, is Madonna going to introduce Janet Jackson's tribute to Michael and will Eminem be a surprise performer? My lips are sealed! But if you tune in Sunday at 8 p.m., you're certain to find out!
