In a fast-moving digital world where catchphrases and memes disappear 20 minutes after they're declared cool, it must be especially frustrating to be Kanye West. It has now been two months since he crashed Taylor Swift's acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards, but the rest of the media world refuses to let West forget about it. West has apologized to Swift (both in public on national television and in a private phone conversation) and stayed out of the public eye since that fateful night at Radio City Music Hall, but it seems like any time anybody has an awards show, it crops back up again. In fact, getting interrupted during an awards show moment is now simply called "getting Kanye'd."

Case in point: On last night's Country Music Association Awards show, co-hosts Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley were in the middle of a bit when they were interrupted by Grand Ole Opry legend Little Jimmy Dickens, who stepped up to the microphone and said, "I'll let you finish later. I know you had a nice video and all, but Taylor Swift made the best video of all time. Of all time!"

Just a few weeks ago, Katy Perry got into the act while she was hosting the MTV Europe Music Awards. During the announcement of the nominees for Best Urban Video, Perry dropped in once Kanye's name was announced and said, "I'mma let you finish, but this is the best awards show interruption of all time. Of all time!"

And a mere week after Kanye stormed his way into infamy, he was the butt of a handful of jokes at the Emmys, including Justin Timberlake slipping "I'mma let you finish" a speech and actor Ken Howard saying, "I will make my speech as brief as possible in the hope that it won't be interrupted by a congressman or a rapper."

In the wake of the initial incident, Kanye's visit to the stage became an incredible photo meme that still refuses to die and also crossed paths with the Joe Wilson "You lie!" incident (which is almost entirely forgotten by the rest of the world).

And it's not like Kanye invented the idea of crashing awards shows. Who could forget Ol' Dirty Bastard, Rage Against the Machine bassist Tim Commerford, "Soy Bomb" or any of the other legendary stage crashers? Kanye West's legacy as a producer and performer was already in tact, but now it looks like he'll have "The Kanye" at the top of his resumé for a while.

In the history of rock and roll, few bands have had worse luck than Aerosmith. Throughout their nearly four decade career, they've battled drug issues, marketplace apathy, illness and in-fighting. They were forced to cancel a tour this year because of an injury to frontman Steven Tyler, who recently decided that he would leave the band behind for a while to pursue a solo career. Guitarist and longtime Tyler collaborator Joe Perry (who has a solo album of his own) took to his Twitter to announce that while the band isn't breaking up, they are searching for a new singer while Tyler is off on his own. "Aerosmith is positively looking for a new singer to work with. You just can't take 40 years of experience and throw it in the bin," Perry tweeted. "[The] band is playing hotter than ever and our songs need to be played live. Don't despair: Aerosmith is not splitting up. Promise that's the last you'll hear from me on the subject 'till we gear up again."

Perry didn't drop any hints about who might temporarily dance in Tyler's bellbottoms, but luckily, MTV News has come up with a handful of suggestions that the Aerosmith boys might want to consider. It all depends on what they're looking for. Do they want to tap into a younger market? Maybe they should try to court junior R&B star Justin Bieber. Would they prefer somebody they've worked with before? Send offers to Katy Perry or Kid Rock. But honestly, do they have any better option than to dangle the job in front of Adam Lambert?

It's been an active couple of days for Katy Perry: She celebrated her birthday with the help of Russell Brand and Taylor Swift on Saturday (October 24), and today it's possible she celebrated the official "AMTV" premiere of "Starstruckk," the new video from 3OH!3 that features Perry both on the song and in the clip. It's an excellent slice of jittery, dance-infused alt-pop that gets a very nice boost from Perry's presence. The whole clip revolves around a large public fountain and features a handful of slow-motion shots of busty models, but the most eye-catching female is Perry herself, who dances with the 3OH!3 guys while wearing some sort of strange leotard, and changes into a strange pink and black dress for a frolic in the fountain herself.

The men of 3OH!3 are currently on tour in Europe (their next show in the United States is a spot on the KIIS Jingle Ball in Los Angeles in December). Meanwhile, Perry is recovering from her birthday party and also hard at work on her second album, the follow-up to her debut smash One of the Boys. A number of collaborators have come by Perry's recording studio, including Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo, producer Greg Wells (who worked with Perry on her first album) and songwriter Cathy Dennis (who penned "I Kissed a Girl" and the Jonas Brothers' "Paranoid," among other hits). She'll also be releasing an album commemorating her "MTV Unplugged" performance on November 17, which will feature two new recordings: A Perry original called "Brick by Brick" and a cover of Fountains of Wayne's "Hackensack" (from their 2003 album Welcome Interstate Managers). In the meantime, Perry's performance in "Starstruckk" will keep us well distracted until she surfaces again.

Every day a multitude of stars wanders through the halls of MTV News to talk about their latest projects and goof around with our intrepid correspondents. But sometimes we catch stars elsewhere, and that's why we put together Spotted!, a daily compendium of stars in the wild.

On Saturday night (October 24), the Ultimate Fighting Championship returned to Los Angeles' Staples Center for the first time since 2006 for UFC 104, a pay-per-view event headlined by Lyoto "The Dragon" Machida and Mauricio "Shogun" Rua in a match for Machida's light heavyweight championship. (The champion retained in a unanimous decision despite the fact that Rua did far more damage and was the aggressor for most of the fight. It was one of the greatest robberies in UFC history.) Because UFC often attracts celebrities and because the show was in Los Angeles, there were a number of famous attendees at Saturday night's show. Fight enthusiast Ashton Kutcher was there with wife Demi Moore, and "Entourage" star Jeremy Piven was in attendance as well. Also spotted in the crowd? Janet Jackson, whose late brother Michael was also a UFC supporter (he was sometimes spotted at shows in Las Vegas). And sitting behind Jackson was fellow musician and grappling fan Will.I.Am of the Black Eyed Peas.

Jackson and Will.I.Am weren't the only stars out in Los Angeles over the weekend. Katy Perry celebrated her birthday with boyfriend Russell Brand at a costume party in West Hollywood on Saturday night, while Sunday saw Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato visit the Nokia Theater for Disney's annual Concert for Hope. Click here for these photos as well as the rest of the "Spotted!" archive, which includes over 300 candid shots of Britney Spears, Madonna, Beyoncé, Drake, Lil Wayne, Lady Gaga, the Jonas Brothers, Adam Lambert and Tokio Hotel!

Growing up in Manhattan, the annual CMJ Festival was always a staple, providing a lot of fun gigs in between Yom Kippur and Halloween. This year's CMJ has kind of been a bummer — or maybe everyone who used to be really psyched about CMJ is getting old and boring. But there are still good acts to be seen!

One of which is another born-and-bred Manhattanite, Samuel. Samuel played on Wednesday night (October 21) at the party hosted by Spin magazine (along with the Temper Trap and the Clipse — pretty classic eclectic CMJ booking). According to his MySpace page, Samuel has a musical pedigree, and his live show makes it really evident that entertaining is in his genes. Backed up by two DJs and a drummer (two of whom make up his production partners, the Knocks), Samuel sang through a high-energy (I go tired just watching him dance from one side of the stage to the other) set full of sunny, soulful and sad songs that were all ultimately pure pop.

Song standouts included the Motown-y "Coincidence" (it's a song about a girl, as are most of his tunes), the Postal Service-y "Say Goodbye" and the dance-friendly "Neverland." The crowd responded to the latter the best, shouting along with the chorus: "Until I find my way back to Neverlaaaaaand."

Like a lot of this year's CMJ artists, Samuel is already signed to a major label (Columbia) and has created a grassroots following in NYC, but with a tour scheduled for next year and an album scheduled for release next spring (executive produced and mixed by Greg Wells, who has also worked with Katy Perry and Mika), Samuel may already be on his way to Neverland.

The chill in the air is enough to convince us that fall is actually here. So rather than hitting the backyard barbecue, it's time for leaf peeping, pumpkin carving and watching college football. But before you wrap up the last of your work for the week and hit the nearest hay ride, be sure to check out everything you might have missed this week on the MTV Newsroom blog, from the deep dirt on Lady Gaga to some pre-emptively rejected Kris Allen album titles.

» Before Lady Gaga was a fashion-forward hit machine, she was just a New York University student desperately trying to eat a salad without hurting anybody.

» Backstreet Boy Brian Littrell forced the group to bow out of a bunch of promotional dates because he caught swine flu, but that didn't stop us from celbrating the release of the group's new album This Is Us.

» On "Dancing with the Stars," Debi Mazar and Tom DeLay both did the loser shuffle. Meanwhile, Chuck Liddell is gaining some serious skills, but the competition is still Mya's to lose.

» Kris Allen's debut album doesn't have a title yet, and MTV News' Jim Cantiello wants him to know what not to do.

» In other correspondent news, James Montgomery wrote some lovely things about Pink — so lovely, in fact, that she tweeted her gratitude.

Another day brings the world another paparazzi shot of Russell Brand and Katy Perry out on a date. At least that's what everyone is calling it. Although no official word has come down that the pair are seeing each other in a romantic sense, they have been spotted all over Paris, going to fashion shows and hitting the town. And, might we add, is there a better to city to fall in love?

On Wednesday, the pair was spotted at the Galliano show looking like quite the lovely couple. Russell was decked out in a blinged-out tuxedo jacket with pinstripe pants, while Katy rocked a floor-length bubblegum gown with matching pink shoes. On Tuesday, the pair had been spotted at the Fendi show together. And they certainly haven't been shy to hold hands and touch each other while hitting up the shows.

But we realize that they also weren't shy about supporting each other right there on the world's stage at the Video Music Awards last month in New York City. With the assistance of Aerosmith's Joe Perry, she opened the show by serenading Brand with a cover of Queen's "We Will Rock You" as he made his way onto to the stage. He, of course, offered to be her shoulder to cry on when she didn't win any prizes at the big event.

So it seems like love bloomed right in front of the world at Radio City Music Hall. We here at MTV News love a good love story.

The giant grandfather clock in the MTV Newsroom will sound its final bells at any moment, which means it's time to remedy that terrible short-term memory and take a look back at the week that was here on the Newsroom blog. As the calendar switched from September to October and the fall weather began to descend, Kanye West remained in the headlines, Madonna ate pizza and zombies were everywhere. Want to have an instant nostalgia trip? Just keep reading.

» The "Fame Kills" tour — starring Kanye West and Lady Gaga — got put on the back burner, but that won't stop Gaga from doing her own shows.

» Madonna and David Letterman had a civil interview and then sat down for a slice.

» Jennifer Hudson celebrated the anniversary of "The Wizard of Oz" with a stirring rendition of "Over the Rainbow" live in Central Park.

» Adam Lambert has already sold a ton of albums, even though the record in question has no title or single. But that's okay, because he's driving people to donate to public schools.

» Before she got sick and had to cancel a bunch of Paramore shows, Hayley Williams wore a tank top on "The Tonight Show" that looked awfully familiar to us.

Isn't it bizarre that we've gotten to the point where we get nervous when normally Twitter-heavy celebrities take a bit of time out from sharing their personal lives via the Internet? There was that post-VMA period when Taylor Swift took some time off from tweeting, and Trent Reznor's frequent exits from the service became news every time he stormed off. Recently, Katy Perry took a vacation to Thailand and disappeared for about a week.

She returned to the service last night to praise Thailand, Morrissey and Peter Sellers. Her second tweet, though, is the one should raise a few eyebrows. "I've got a secret. Huge news coming in a couple days!" she wrote. She even preempted the inevitable speculation, adding, "No, my ego is not prego. Next!"

But what could Perry be talking about? A new album? Her next tour? Something else entirely? When MTV News caught up with Perry on the set of the video for 3OH!3's "Starstrukk," she mentioned that she had some big things brewing but couldn't talk about them just yet. When pressed for more details, she remained coy but did say that she would be holding a microphone.

Is Perry going to host another awards show, like she did last year at the MTV Europe Music Awards? Is she getting her own talk show? Did she just buy a microphone factory? Whatever the news is, we can be sure that Perry will drop the knowledge via Twitter and that MTV News will be on top of it.

Some celebrities make sex tapes. Others bombard award-show speeches. But to make an absolute permanent mark on history, you have to break into the Guinness Book of World Records. In the 2010 edition of the book, Britney Spears, Rihanna and Katy Perry are just a few acts to make a name for themselves in the legendary compendium of human extremes. But unlike skateboarder and MTV personality Rob Dyrdek (who holds the record for the highest skateboard ramp jump into water) or his bodyguard Big Black (who ate three bananas in 1 minute), these stars are recognized for accomplishments that are a little more conventional.

For example, Britney Spears' record is based entirely on her groundbreaking sales figures. Brit is noted for being the youngest female artist to have five of her albums reach #1. She also moved an estimated 37 million records worldwide before turning 20, making her the "all-time best-selling teenage artist." Take that, Miley!

While Ho Hung Hee set the record for making the most expensive umbrella in the world (a whopping $2,000), Rihanna's rain-related entry is a little more impressive. Read more...
