Mariah Carey and Nick CannonBy James Dinh

After days of speculation and referring to them on Twitter as #dembabies, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon have finally unveiled the names of their newborn twins. Born Saturday morning, the couple's son is named Moroccan Scott Cannon (nicknamed "Roc"), while their daughter is Monroe Cannon. But instead of looking to a traditional baby-name book, it appears as if the couple created these names as a reflection of their lives. Take a peek at some of their inspiration in naming their children.

Moroccan Style: Not only is the top tier of Mimi's New York City apartment known as the Moroccan Room (due to its Moroccan-inspired décor), but it's also the place where Nick proposed to Mariah. With the multiple connections, it's no surprise that the duo decided to name their son Moroccan.

Family Ties: While the couple chose to give their newborn son the same middle name as Nick (Scott, which is his grandmother's maiden name), they opted not to give her daughter one because Mimi doesn't have one herself.

Marilyn Monroe: Mariah and Nick decided to name their daughter after the Hollywood icon because of the huge inspiration she's had in the pop singer's life. Fun fact: Mimi actually purchased Monroe's white piano from Christie's auction house.

Do you see any other influences in the names? Let us know in the comments below!

"The way it happened, so quickly at first, I didn't know what to expect. That was not easy. I've never really been a very forthcoming person about my personal stuff. It kind of shook us both and took us into a place that was really dark and difficult. When that happened ... I wasn't able to even talk to anybody about it. That was not easy."

-Pop music legend Mariah Carey, commenting on the revelation that she had a miscarriage two years ago. That news came on the back of the happier revelation that Carey is pregnant with her first child with husband Nick Cannon. In an interview with Billy Bush that first aired on "Today" and was then expanded on "Access Hollywood Live," Carey and Cannon talked about how they dealt with the issue. "It was emotional for both of us and that's when I saw the strength," Cannon said of Carey. "She handled it so well and then to get on the plane and have to spend Christmas with friends and family, it definitely brought us closer together. It strengthened our relationship so much ... she handled it so well."

The miscarriage is one of the many reasons why the couple have been holding off on revealing Carey's pregnancy to the world. But now that it's out, Cannon and Carey can enjoy the good will being bestowed on them. "It's a happy moment," Cannon explained on his radio show later. "I'm usually not at a loss of words, but it's been a good morning with all the congratulations and all that stuff."

After months of speculation and dozens of hours spent studying photographs wondering whether or not Mariah Carey was with child, we now know for certain. Carey is pregnant with her first child with husband Nick Cannon, and the pair appeared on Today this morning to make the official announcement. Though Carey wouldn't commit to a date, she told interviewer Billy Bush that the baby is due some time in the spring. Considering how much the media has been obsessed with whether or not Mariah was pregnant, this child will be one of the most famous fetuses on the planet for the next few months.

Considering the gene pool involved, this child will almost certainly be the most adorable kid in the universe by the time he or she is delivered. But according to our pals at MorphThing.com, the combination of Carey and Cannon will result in something ... less than cute. The baby above isn't not cute, but it also doesn't have the same kind of angelic glow that you would assume Carey's kid would have. Then again, she does have a certain charm.

Most importantly, the birth of their first child gives Carey the chance to build the world's greatest nursery for her baby. As anybody who has ever seen her episode of MTV's "Cribs" knows, Carey lives in luxury usually reserved for royalty and Scarface (which is appropriate considering the staggering success she has had as an artist). Will there be a solid gold crib? Possibly. Lots of butterflies and rainbows? Absolutely.

You know who is going to have a really, really good day today? Nick Cannon, who will be celebrating his 30th birthday. The actor, rapper, television mogul and husband to Mariah Carey has crammed in an awful lot of bullet points on his resumé in his first three decades on the planet, and you never hear anybody saying anything bad about the guy — a rare combination for a young, rich media mogul.

Cannon got his first big break way back in 1998 when he became a featured player on the hit Nickelodeon show "All That" (he was discovered doing stand-up comedy, which he began doing in his early teens). His success on "All That" lead to a string of future television opportunities, including his own Nickelodeon vehicle ("The Nick Cannon Show") and a series of hits on MTV (including "Nick Cannon Presents: Wild 'N Out," the extremely entertaining improv comedy competition show). The film world also came calling, as Cannon has headlined hits like "Drumline," "Love Don't Cost a Thing" and "Roll Bounce." But he always came back to television, and currently serves both as the host of the hit reality competition show "America's Got Talent" and also acts as the chairman of TeenNick, where he develops new programming for the network.

Cannon's career as a rapper was unfortunately brief, as it consists of only a single album (his self-titled 2003 debut) and a handful of guest appearances. But Cannon's smooth flow and sly boasts made him especially suited for head-nodding crossover tracks like "Gigolo," the biggest single from Nick Cannon that also featured a drop-in from R&B mastermind R. Kelly.

Every day a multitude of stars wander through the halls of MTV News to talk about their latest projects and goof around with our intrepid correspondents. But sometimes we catch stars elsewhere, and that's why we put together Spotted!, a daily compendium of stars in the wild.

The last time we heard new music from Mariah Carey was last year's Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, and though the buzz that surrounded the first single "Obsessed" has not stuck around, Carey continues to drop singles from it (the most recent being the well-received one-two punch of "Up Out My Face" and "Angels Cry") and play shows all over the world (she is an international superstar, after all). She took her act to the Barretos International Rodeo in Brazil on Sunday (August 22) wearing a T-shirt that read "If You Like Fun You'll Love Me." She plowed through her massive box of hits and may or may not have fueled more pregnancy rumors (which husband Nick Cannon continues to deny, most recently on his radio show on Monday).

Carey wasn't the only star getting outside her comfort zone, as "True Blood" stars Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin got married in Malibu and Miranda Cosgrove paid a visit to the Governor's Ball in Los Angeles. Click here for these photos as well as the entire "Spotted" archive, which features nearly 500 candid shots of stars like Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, the Jonas Brothers, Katy Perry, Jay-Z, Justin Bieber, Kanye West, Eminem, Jessica Simpson, Madonna, Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, 50 Cent, Diddy and Adam Lambert!

"When I was 17, we weren't doing that well financially, and my mother, at the time, was working extremely hard. She was going to school. She had a couple of jobs. My mother made me get a job at, like, Wienerschnitzel. [It was a job] just to kind of help ends meet. I ended up getting fired. I ended up getting fired because I was playing on the intercom system at the drive-thru, telling jokes. That's when I knew I wanted to be a stand-up comic."

-Actor, rapper, radio host and television impresario Nick Cannon, explaining to MTV's "When I Was 17" why his employment situation in his high school years was so rocky. Cannon is a part of this weekend's new episode of "When I Was 17," which airs on Saturday, June 12 at 11 a.m. on MTV. The episode is fleshed out by testimonials from real estate mogul and "The Apprentice" host Donald Trump (who talks about his love of sports and his prospects for playing major league baseball) and former Danity Kane member Aubrey O'Day (who thought sex was "gross" and was known by a nickname that can't be re-printed on this particular blog).

Cannon didn't have to go back to working the drive-thru, as he worked his way up the stand-up ladder and eventually landed acting work in "Drumline" and on Nickelodeon's "All That." From there came the rest of his career: A rap album, several MTV shows, hosting duties on "America's Got Talent" and the better half of wife Mariah Carey.

Check out the new episode of "When I Was 17" — featuring Nick Cannon, Aubrey O'Day and Donald Trump — this Saturday at 11 a.m. on MTV

We appear to be in the epoch of the hip-hop biopic. Last year brought us "Notorious" (about the life of the Notorious B.I.G.), while films about Tupac, Run-D.M.C. and the Juice Crew are all in different states of production. Yesterday came the news that the next rap legends to be immortalized on film will be N.W.A, who will be the subject of a film called (fittingly) "Straight Outta Compton." It's a story that will make a perfect film, as N.W.A rose up from the underground, made a colossal impact on the music world and then burned out just as quickly (which makes for a comfortable story arc).

But who will step into the difficult roles of Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, MC Ren, Yella and especially Eric "Eazy-E" Wright? If we were producing "Straight Outta Compton," here are the first actors who would get offers. And if we were to put together another version of N.W.A in the same mold (or for some reason cast a radio play about the group), here are the MCs we would want involved.

Ice Cube
Actor: Percy Daggs III. Best known for playing Wallace on "Veronica Mars," he's a guy who could really break out in a juicy role like Cube's. He has just the right amount of toughness to carry off Cube's rage but retains the heart of gold that Cube stored behind all that bile.
Rapper: Malice. If there is anybody who has been carrying on Cube's legacy as the guy who invented gangsta rap, it's the man who serves as 50 percent of the Clipse.

Dr. Dre
Actor: Kenan Thompson. The "Saturday Night Live" cast member is secretly a great actor looking for the right role — and what better one than the thumping beat and bellowing voice of the good Doctor?
Rapper: Dr. Dre. The guy is still a monster behind the decks, and it begins and ends with that.

MC Ren
Actor: Nick Cannon. Read More...

"This year is gonna be all about Justin Bieber. He's already become this phenomenon and it's only gonna get bigger and bigger and bigger. It's Bieber fever in 2010."

-Author, celebrity blogger and budding music executive Perez Hilton, talking to MTV News about some of his predictions for the music world in 2010. The 15-year-old Bieber certainly has the potential to have a colossal 2010, as he wrapped up his 2009 on an incredible run. Starting in September, he appeared at the MTV Video Music Awards, debuted his breakthrough single "One Time," dropped his debut album My World, headlined a bunch of radio festivals, opened a pair of high-profile shows for Taylor Swift in the U.K., hung out with everybody from Jordin Sparks to Celine Dion and even got to sing for the President of the United States on Christmas. Not a bad run for a kid who got his start posting videos online.

Bieber already has big plans for the beginning of the year. His follow-up album My World Part II comes out in March, his new single "Baby" (which features a guest rap from Ludacris) is tearing up the airwaves and he already has one video in the can and another on the way. As far as his success is concerned, the sky is the limit, and it isn't just Hilton who thinks so. "Justin Bieber's definitely about to take the world by storm if he hasn't already," Nick Cannon explained told MTV News. "He's filling a void that hasn't been filled since the Backstreet Boys and 'NSYNC and all of that stuff."

The last two weeks of late night shows have been so great that it's easy to forget that, most of the time, those shows aren't all that amazing. For all the great things that David Letterman, Jay Leno, Conan O'Brien or anybody else have done, their shows are typically cycles through a handful of familiar tropes: The news-based monologue, the wacky interaction with the band leader, the piece of audience participation, the wacky off-set video package, two celebrity interviews and a musical performance. It's a predictable formula that has worked for years, but it's also just that: A formula. While "The Daily Show" and "The Colbert Report" have shaken things up a bit, the late night scene is still flooded with stuff we've seen before.

It's also full of people we've seen before. Leno and Letterman have literally been on the air for decades — isn't it about time some new blood got injected into the after-hours game? (And we're not talking about Chelsea Handler.) Here are a few people who should really be given the opportunity to shine.

Aziz Ansari
The breakout star of last summer's "Funny People" and NBC's "Parks and Recreation" has experience in both stand-up and sketch work, so his comedy pedigree is top-notch. He has plenty of famous friends, an interest in music and is considered cool by just about everybody who matters in Hollywood. A regular dose of Raaaaaaaaaaandy would inject an awful lot of life into late night.

Andy Samberg
The guy already has experience hosting the MTV Movie Awards and has been the MVP of "Saturday Night Live" for the past few years. He's everything that's great about Fallon (the easy-going personality, the "Everyone's invited!" brand of humor, the willingness to look weird) without as much stammering.
