Britney Spears just released the ultra-steamy video for “Criminal,” which stars her boyfriend of over two years, Jason Trawick. The two give us a glimpse into their bedroom behavior in the clip and it got us thinking, what other couples have turned co-stars in music videos? Well, wonder no more, here’s our list!

Britney Spears and Kevin Federline, “My Prerogative” (2004)
Jason Trawick wasn’t the first boyfriend Britney teamed up with for a music video. Brit starred alongside then fiance Kevin Federline for the video for “My Prerogative." In the vid, K-Fed’s cameo remains a mystery for most of the clip (even though everyone knows it’s him) as he watches a barely clothed Britney roll around on a bed. The video concludes with the two walking down the aisle and locking lips, which later happened in real life. Yet, after two kids, the two called off their marriage in 2006.

Beyonce and Jay-Z, “Crazy in Love” (2003), "Bonnie and Clyde" (2003), “Déjà vu” (2006), "Upgrade U" (2006)
The super private couple certainly has had no trouble showing their love through their music. The two have appeared been in four music videos together, including “Crazy in Love,” which got the rumors swirling that these two were actually a couple. Now, not only do the two make great music together, they are also making babies! Beyonce is expecting their first child this February.

Oh my God, you guys! Beyonce's next video is almost here, and it's for one of your favorite songs from 4, the horn-blasting jam "Countdown."

We've been preaching the gospel of "Countdown" for months. Before the album even dropped, we were Internet screaming that it needed to be a single – and now it is! It's one of our favorite tracks on the album, which is a statement because 4 is our favorite album so far this year.

But enough fawning (for now … trust that we'll Stan out again once the full video drops). Yesterday, King Bey dropped a sneak peek and all anyone is talking about is her baby bump. So we got to thinking about pregnant ladies and pop music. Sometimes a star tries to keep her bump under wraps for a video shoot, as Madonna did in her "Music" video. You can't even tell that under that long white fur coat, the world's biggest pop star was very pregnant (her pregnancy was the reason the mid-vid action sequence was animated). Other times, she flaunts it, as Beyonce seems to be doing in the "Countdown" clip and as Britney Spears did in the video for her ballad "Someday (I Will Understand)."

After the jump, check out Her Madgesty and Britney as well as Pink and Mariah Carey in videos shot while the pop stars were expecting. Read More...

The last year was a big one for Pink. She welcomed a daughter with husband Carey Hart, released a smash greatest hits album and scored her second number one solo hit, "Raise Your Glass." Today, she celebrates her 32nd birthday, so let's, um, raise our glasses to Pink!

Incidentally, before we realized it was her birthday, we were already planning on toasting the pop star today, but for a different reason. We simply can't get enough of Pink on Twitter.

Since the birth of her daughter Willow, Pink has taken some time off to bond with her baby and nurture her growing family. It's pretty rare these days for such a high-profile celeb to set her career on the shelf for so long, but it's made us appreciate Pink all the more. We've always loved her tunes, but by opting away from full-on familial magazine spreads and "HOW I LOST THE BABY WEIGHT" headlines, we've gained an enormous amount of respect for the singer. She started her career as the bad-ass of the early aughts pop princesses, but Pink turned out to be the one to respect that some things are sacred. And that's pretty awesome.

On Twitter, Pink brings humor to the challenges of being a new parent. She also frequently responds directly to her fans and those who criticize her with the same snappy, take-no-s**t attitude that made us love her in the first place. After the jump, a few of our recent favorite tweets.

When Adele takes the stage at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, the focus will be on something that sometimes gets overlooked amid the spectacle of the VMAs – her voice.

When we think back on the best VMA performances in recent memory, acts like Lady Gaga, Beyonce and Usher spring immediately to mind with their extravagant sets, backup dancers and otherworldly energy. Don’t get us wrong, these guys sounded great – Beyonce and Gaga are known for their ability to keep up vocally while hitting all the right moves – but we shouldn’t forget to give a little love to the great, stripped-down sets that showcased the performer’s voice above everything else. From Florence + The Machine last year to Pink’s emotional take on “Just Like a Pill” in 2002, some truly great vocal performances have brought down the house at the awards.

Check out our list of the best of the best after the jump. Read More...

Katy Perry

Music videos can thrill, shock, confound and elate, but when they weave in a serious message they can also make a difference and teach us a little something. That's why MTV is proud to introduce a new category at this year's 2011 Video Music Awards, Best Video With a Message, which will spotlight clips from Lady Gaga, Pink, Katy Perry, Eminem, Taylor Swift and Rise Against that have a pro-social message.

The new category spotlights the intersection of music and social activism, highlighting artists who've made videos with positive messages that raise awareness of some of the most pressing issues facing today's youth, from bullying and LGBT discrimination to domestic violence and self-image struggles.

“During the past year, we’ve seen a remarkable number of artists create music videos that went above and beyond simply offering entertainment value,” said MTV President Stephen Friedman. “Instead, these artists used their influence and voices to explore deeply personal experiences and issues they were passionate about to create meaningful music that resonated with millions inspiring life anthems for their fans.”

Each clip nominated for Best Video with a Message will be accompanied by some action steps from MTV Act – MTV’s online platform designed to amplify youth efforts to make things better – where the MTV audience can learn more about and take action on the issue addressed.

Rihanna’s weekend show in Dallas was canceled mid-show when a fire broke out above the stage after a pyrotechnic unit set a chair on the catwalk above the stage ablaze. Fans initially thought the fire was part of the show, only realizing the flames were not intentionally set when smoke began to fill parts of the American Airlines Center arena and the lights came on. Dallas firefighters evacuated the arena and no injuries were reported.

After the show, Rihanna tweeted her displeasure with having to end the show and promised to return to the Texas city, saying, “DALLAS!!! We set the stage on FYAH tonight!!! LITERALLY!!! I'm so pissed, I was havin so much fun wit yall too!!! I gotta come back man!!”

The (literally) show-stopping event got us thinking about other concerts that have come to an abrupt end after the show was already underway. It takes a lot to stop a large-scale pop show dead in its tracks. Here are a few examples. Read More...

Ten years ago this week, “Lady Marmalade” was celebrating its fifth and final week at the top of the Billboard Hot 100. The Missy Elliot-produced single appeared on the soundtrack to the Oscar-nominated film “Moulin Rouge!” and won Christina Aguilera, Pink, Lil Kim and Mya a Grammy for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals. The smash video featured the sexy songbirds as lingerie-clad ladies of the night at a Paris brothel and took home the MTV VMA for Video of the Year. It was kind of a big deal.

The song lives on in the clubs, where we heard it this weekend while out celebrating NYC Pride and the passage of the groundbreaking same-sex marriage equality bill in New York. When the tune started booming over the sound system, everyone on the dance floor went bonkers. The crowd remembered every word; some even knew the choreography.

This got us thinking about who would fill Pink and the Queen Bee’s hooker boots today. Sure, hip-hop stars call on their friends in rhyming for first-rate mega-collaborations all the time, but it’s been a while since we’ve see an all-star pop star explosion of this magnitude. Can anyone hold a candle to Xtina and the gang? Read on for our ideas. Read More...

Though there have been surges by Britney Spears and Katy Perry, the top of the Billboard Hot 100 has belonged to Bruno Mars in 2011. The singer, songwriter and producer's single "Grenade" is on top for a second straight week, giving it a total of four weeks in that spot. That matches the run that "Just the Way You Are" had in the fall of 2010 (though that song sat on top for four consecutive weeks). It's a pretty impressive run by Mars, who has fended off surges by a number of high profile artists like Enrique Iglesias (whose "Tonight" sits at number five this week) as well as upstarts like Wiz Khalifa (whose "Black and Yellow" drops a spot to number four despite all the Super Bowl buzz for the Pittsburgh Steelers).

But Mars' run at the top could come tumbling down sooner rather than later, as thanks to the premiere of an excellent video, Pink's "F----- Perfect" made a huge surge into the number two spot this week. The clip, which stars former "Veronica Mars" actress Tina Marjorino, is as in-your-face and intense as the song itself (which is one of the more badass tunes in Pink's catalog).

"F----- Perfect" is one of two new songs on Pink's recently-released Greatest Hits ... So Far!!!. The first single from that compilation, "Raise Your Glass," already made it to the top of the Hot 100 late last year (it stayed there for a week in December 2010). Between video spins, radio airplay and dominance in digital sales (it was at the top of the iTunes singles chart for most of this week), "F----- Perfect" could find itself on top next week.

There weren't any major debuts or other big surges on this week's chart, though with the Steelers playing on Sunday, you can expect "Black and Yellow" to make a big push to the top, and don't be surprised if Britney Spears' "Hold It Against Me" makes another ascension based on the excitement over the album's title.

Last year, Britney Spears released a greatest hits album (appropriately titled The Singles Collection) that included a new track called "3" that shot directly to the top of the Billboard Hot 100. This year, that idiom belongs to Pink, who just dropped her first ever compilation Greatest Hits ... So Far!!!. The album contains a pair of new tracks: the acerbic "F---in' Perfect" and the anthemic "Raise Your Glass."

The latter just found its way to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 after eight weeks on the chart. It's her second trip to the top of the mountain as a solo artist (she last hit the number one spot in 2008 with "So What"), though she also had a share of that with "Lady Marmalade" (which also featured Lil' Kim, Christina Aguilera and Mya) in 2001. "Raise Your Glass" displaces Rihanna's "Only Girl (In the World)," which drops to number three behind Katy Perry's surging "Firework." Rihanna actually has two songs in the top 10 this week ("What's My Name?" is at number five), as does Bruno Mars ("Just the Way You Are" comes in at number four this week, while "Grenade" sits at number 10).

There were no real big debuts on the Hot 100 this week. The biggest first-timer doesn't show up until number 32, and even then it's the cast of "Glee" with their take on Bruno Mars' "Marry You" (way ahead of Mars' own version of the song, which is number 91 this week). Kanye West's "Dark Fantasy" found its way onto the chart at number 60 on the back of digital sales related to the release of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy ("All of the Lights" also charted at number 92). The most notable gainer this week was Dr. Dre's "Kush," which continues to storm the Internet and has managed to make its way up to number 34 (that's a 15 spot jump in one week).
