Janet Jackson

By Daniela Capistrano

Despite canceling nine shows on her Rock Witchu Tour due to vestibular migraines, Janet was present and full of energy for her Saturday performance at Madison Square Garden. She left the packed house standing and cheering for more when she closed with her top-five hit "Runaway," but received mixed reactions throughout the night to tracks from her latest album, Discipline.

Although the LP is Janet's least successful album to date (as of September, record sales stood at 415,000 copies in the U.S.), the turnout at Madison Square Garden probably convinced Midtown onlookers otherwise. Hundreds of Janet fans of all ages and backgrounds spilled onto the streets, clutching merchandise and congregating outside the venue as if unwilling to leave, still glowing and chattering excitedly about the show they had just experienced. "Did you see her dancing the entire time?" shouted a middle-age mother to her group of friends, teenage daughters in tow. "It was flawless!" Other fans expressed similar sentiments. "Oh my God, that was hot," a male teen crowed to his similarly well-coiffed associates. “Janet is timeless, right?" Responses to the new album, however, were decidedly mixed. Words used by the crowd to describe her latest release ranged from "pretty good, but not great" to "disappointing." Read more...

LL Cool JIf you think the tension is thick this week when Senator John McCain has lunch with his gone-rogue running mate Sarah Palin, can you imagine the eggshells people are walking on backstage at the Rock Witchu Tour? Thankfully, this time Janet Jackson's health isn't the problem. Janet JacksonWe know, we've said it a few times before, but this time Janet Jackson's people swear it's for real. After staying off the road since September 29 with what has been described as a rare form of migraine that results in vertigo, Jackson is slated to hit the stage in Washington, D.C., tonight.

Janet JacksonJanet Jackson's attempt to get her Rock Witchu Tour back on the road got derailed again over the weekend. Jackson, 42, who is suffering from an as-yet-undisclosed illness, was slated to resume her tour on Saturday at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut, after canceling six scheduled shows since September 29. But according to the casino's Web site, the singer was under "doctor's orders" not to play the show. The same message went up over the weekend on the site for the Turning Stone Casino in Verona, New York, where Jackson was to play tonight.

Meanwhile, ABC News has speculated that perhaps it's not illness but a non-medical ailment that's plaguing Jackson: poor ticket sales.

Janet JacksonAfter a slight detour to the hospital and a week's worth of rest, Janet Jackson is ready to "Rock Withchu" again. The singer, who canceled six dates due to an undisclosed illness, will be back onstage on Saturday in Uncasville, Connecticut.

Janet Jackson performing on WednesdayBy Luke Burke

I have been a fan of Janet Jackson since I was about 5 years old. I have attended every tour since Rhythm Nation, and I own every album she has released. When the opportunity presented itself to cover the Janet Jackson Rock Witchu Tour concert at the Staples Center in Los Angeles last night, I quickly recruited myself.
