Cincinnati -- Talk about the perfect bill on the perfect night. Kid Rock and old pal Sheryl Crow kicked off their summer tour on Saturday (July 2) in the Queen City with a three-hour marathon of Americana that had it all – fireworks, giant American flags, songs about lazy (mostly drunken) summer days and pontoon boats, multiple references to funny cigarettes, purple mountains majesty and, of course, a couple of Uncle Sam-loving strippers thrown in for good measure.

What better way is there to gear up for the 4th of July, right?

For the 15,500 at Riverbend Amphitheater, clearly there was nowhere else to be in the windup to patriotic weekend, despite oppressive heat and humidity that made goopy mascara run, sky-high hair droop and sweat to flow in torrents down a sea of butterfly-themed tramp stamps.

Swaggering out from underneath a titanic set of bull horns with glowing red eyes, a red-white and blue-decked Rock banged out "American Bad Ass" and "God Bless Saturday" in front of a rustic set that looked like a woodsy saloon in his native northern Michigan, complete with a stuffed bear wearing a dookie chain and a full-service, two-story bar with beer taps and bottles of Jim Beam lined up across the front. With a 10-piece band backing him, the rapper-turned-Bob-Segeresque heartland rocker quickly reminded fans of his roots with the Run-DMC-like "You Never Met a Motherf---er Quite Like Me," which got him so riled up he needed to take a minute to brush his hair and change hats before continuing the assault with "Cowboy."

Now, I've been going to shows for a long time now and while I can't recall ever seeing a stripper pole on stage, I've now seen a total of four over the past week at two different shows. So I was not surprised when a pair of poles popped up out of the floor and two exotic dancers materialized to shimmy as Rock put on a cowboy hat (a white one, if you can believe it) and told his tale of West Coast pimpin while flanked by two giant American flags.

Every day a multitude of stars wander through the halls of MTV News to talk about their latest projects and goof around with our intrepid correspondents. But sometimes we catch stars elsewhere, and that's why we put together Spotted!, a daily compendium of stars in the wild.

It's always difficult to keep cool in New York City in the summer, and this particular season has been especially brutal. The humidity has been heavy and the sun has been unwavering, which has made basic actions like walking and eating extremely difficult. Quite frankly, it seems impossible that any artists are able to perform outdoors in the heat, yet many — from Justin Bieber to Lady Gaga to Faith No More — have braved the elements to deliver some incredible sounds. Sheryl Crow is the latest to face the persecutions of the sky, as she was the special performer on Friday morning's (July 23) edition of ABC's "Good Morning America." Crow, whose new album 100 Miles from Memphis sees her focusing on more of a soul sound, was able to cool off the crowd with her earthy, swinging rock, though she needed an assistant to fan her down in between tracks.

Crow wasn't the only star breaking a sweat, as Amy Winehouse was spotted around London and stars continue to pour in and out of San Diego for the 2010 Comic-Con (which you can follow at MTV Movies Blog and Splash Page for all the latest updates). Click here for these photos as well as the entire "Spotted" archive, which features over 400 candid shots of stars like Britney Spears, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Jay-Z, the Jonas Brothers, Adam Lambert, Madonna, Katy Perry, 50 Cent, Lady Gaga, Shakira, Drake and Diddy!

Like all good things, summer vacations have to end eventually. All the talk show hosts are back to work this week (save for the Comedy Central duo of Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, who are pre-empted for the next few days), which means that the guest lists are gigantic. David Letterman kicks off the week strong with a visit from Sylvester Stallone (plugging his upcoming action epic "The Expendables") and a musical performance from Robyn on Monday (July 19). Sheryl Crow stops by for a song on Tuesday (July 20), while Friday (July 23) will see Paul McCartney swing by for a performance.

"The Tonight Show" counters with visits from Kiss (Monday), the Black Eyed Peas (Tuesday), "Eclipse" rockers Metric (Wednesday, July 21), 3OH!3 (Thursday, July 22) and the Gaslight Anthem (Friday). That is an incredible week of music, augmented by interviews with Miami Heat star Dwayne Wade (Monday) and "Charlie St. Cloud" hunk Zac Efron (Tuesday). Over on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," the ABC host will welcome N.E.R.D. and Jay Baruchel (Monday) and "Mad Men" star Jon Hamm (Tuesday) on a fairly low-key week.

It's good to have Jimmy Fallon back, as "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" always has the most satisfying and eclectic music line-ups, and this week is no exception. Jam icons Widespread Panic (Monday), Australian legends Crowded House (Tuesday) and rapper Rick Ross (Friday) will all throw down on Fallon's stage this week (the idea of a Ross/Roots collaboration is mouth-watering). Another great collaboration? Travie McCoy and Bruno Mars, who will team up on "Lopez Tonight" on Tuesday. Lopez will also welcome Enrique Iglesias on Thursday, further cementing his reputation as a host who has excellent taste in musical guests.

What talk show appearance are you most looking forward to this week? Let us know in the comments!

Today marks the opening of "The Runaways," a biopic about the seminal all-female rock band starring Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett and Dakota Fanning as Cherie Currie. The reviews are already pretty positive, which is good for the stars, the band members and especially director Floria Sigismondi.

"The Runaways" represents the feature film debut for Sigismondi, though as any fan of freaky music videos can attest, she's no stranger to rock-fueled images. She has spent the better part of the last 15 years crafting rich, intricate and slightly disturbing clips for an eclectic batch of artists like Marilyn Manson, Christina Aguilera, Interpol, Incubus and Sheryl Crow. She's crafted dozens of clips, but here are her 10 best.

Christina Aguilera, "Fighter"
Sigismondi takes Aguilera's rugged track from Stripped and matches it with a faux-industrial setting where the singer's metamorphosis can occur. It's a perfect example of Sigismondi's aesthetic: Dusty but modern, populist but arty.

Marilyn Manson, "The Beautiful People"
Not only was it a star-making turn for Sigismondi ("The Beautiful People" was nominated for a Video Music Award and was her first clip put in heavy rotation on MTV) but also for Manson (the Antichrist Superstar single became a hit as much for the stilts in the clip as the hook).

Fiona Apple, "O Sailor"
Everything about Apple's Extraordinary Machine album is underrated, from the delightfully askew melodies to Sigismondi's video. It's about the only video where Apple isn't cast as a victim or an object, and it's subsequently the best one she's ever been in.

The White Stripes, "Blue Orchid"
Jack White tapped Sigismondi to produce a video for what is perhaps the band's oddest single, and the director delivered with strange bathtub scenes, whip-smart editing and a giant white horse.

Incubus, "Megalomaniac"
For this politically-minded single from Incubus, Sigismondi experimented with a raw form of animation that gives the clip a real raw, DIY feel. Read More...

NEW YORK — Here's a concert lineup you don't see often: Sheryl Crow with special guests Lupe Fiasco and Hawaiian ukulele player Paula Fuga. But that was the bill at Terminal 5 for Tuesday night's Joyful Revolution, a benefit for the Joyful Heart Foundation, an organization to help victims of domestic violence founded by "Law & Order: SVU" star Mariska Hargitay.

The usually bare-bones concert venue was transformed into a fancy catering hall, and instead of hipster T-shirts and sneakers, this time the crowd was clad in "joyful" attire, as in cocktail dresses and suits. The evening honored "L&O" creator Dick Wolf, and the entire cast of "SVU" was there to support their boss, including Ice-T, Stephanie March and Chris Meloni. "Dick Wolf is the man. We all work for him," Ice-T told us.

While everyone was posing for pictures and mingling during the cocktail party, I went up to Lupe Fiasco and asked him if he'd do a back-flip onstage, like I saw him do at Lollapalooza last year. He said he would try, but with all the amps and mics, he never got the chance. Read More...

· On Wednesday, cameras finally rolled on Britney Spears' video shoot for Madonna's tour. In the clip, Brit, clad in a gray hoodie, walks into an elevator and nervously paces as it begins its ascent. She then kicks and smacks the elevator walls, screams into the camera and pulls down her hood to yell, "It's Britney, bitch."

· Nobody here is trying to tell Amy Winehouse how to live her life. But does it really make sense for the troubled "Rehab" singer to be launching her own club night at London's Camden Monarch on Thursday (July 10)? Love the name, though: "Snakehips at the Monarch."

· Vanessa Hudgens has finally revealed who leaked those nude photos of her last year: "stupid people."

· Here's the rehearsal footage of the Flaming Lips practicing their cover of the Who's "Tommy" in preparation for Saturday's VH1 Rock Honors concert (airing July 17). All we can say is: fish-eye lens, lots of smoke, a strobing gong, alien helium vocals and some kind of silver tassel rah-rah drum stick being waved around by singer Wayne Coyne. Have we mentioned how much we love the Lips?

· After the free Bon Jovi All-Star Concert in Central Park on Saturday, Sheryl Crow, 3 Doors Down and Josh Groban are getting in on the musical action at the All-Star Game in Yankee Stadium on July 15.

· Get ready for the return of the Osbournes. No, the former first family of reality TV is not moving back into their Hollywood mansion. Instead, they're ganging up to star in an upcoming hour-long variety show for Fox that producers are likening to such 1970s cheesefests as "The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour" and "Donny and Marie."

· Just to prove he's not mad at his old hometown, White Stripes/Raconteurs frontman Jack White has written a poem about Detroit. In the poem, "Courageous Dream's Concern," the now Nashville resident writes, "Detroit, you hold what one's been seeking/ Holding off the coward-armies weakling/ Always rising from the ashes/ Not returning to the earth."

· In other Motor City news, a Detroit resident filed suit against Eminem, seeking $25,000 in damages over claims that Em punched him while the pair were in the bathroom of the Eight Mile Road strip club Cheetah's on the Strip in July of 2006.

· Duuuuuude! It totally, almost, nearly happened! Phish fans who attended the inaugural Rothbury Festival in Michigan over the weekend got an unexpected treat. Trey Anastasio, Mike Gordon and Jon Fishman — three out of the four members of the band that may or may not be reuniting — got together onstage to cover the Beatles' "She Said, She Said."

· Sheryl Crow, Nelly, 3 Doors Down, Colbie Caillat, Army of Me, Clique Girlz and Kate Voegele are among the acts who will record exclusive songs for an AT&T-sponsored Olympics-themed album called Team USA.

Sunday night marked a momentous day in the U.K. as the Police played their last-ever show there — and MTV News was there to cover it all. London’s Hyde Park was the location, and fans packed shoulder-to-shoulder to catch their last glimpse of the trio, who were Sunday’s headliners at the Hard Rock Calling music festival.

Eric Clapton headlined Saturday night’s show, with Sheryl Crow, John Mayer, KT Tunstall, Jason Mraz and Starsailor rounding out the festival’s bill. Fans were treated to gorgeous, rain-free weather on both days, and were treated to a special Saturday night performance when Clapton encored with special guests Mayer and Crow on “Crossroads.”

Of course all the talk backstage was about the Police playing their last U.K. show and about Eric Clapton, since both have had a strong influence on the bands that took the stage before them. Check out photos from the show, and watch our full wrap-up below:

You can also check out my show reviews from both days of the festival over at You R Here.
