L.A. surf-pop scenesters Best Coast are about to give their song “Our Deal” the video treatment, and frontwoman Bethany Cosentino has revealed in an interview with Rolling Stone that a gal pal of hers – none other than Drew Barrymore – will be directing the clip. The two met backstage at a show in L.A. and really hit it off.

“She’s the nicest, most down-to-Earth person I’ve ever met,” said Cosentino, who was clearly taken aback by Barrymore’s nonchalant character. “We were like, ‘How can we work together?’”

A music video directed by Barrymore seemed like the logical solution, as the actress made her directorial debut two years ago with the roller derby romp Whip It, starring Ellen Page and current hot commodity Kristen Wiig. Barrymore is not the only celeb attached to the video either; it will include appearances from iCarly star Miranda Cosgrove, Chloe Moretz of Kick Ass and Let Me In fame, and comedian/rapper Donald Glover of Community. Cosentino assures the video has a “very cool concept,” which was concocted by Barrymore.

While this will mark Barrymore’s first music video, actors lensing music clips is far from a new trend. Let’s take a look at some of the more memorable and obscure music videos that were helmed by actors.

Heath Ledger

Before his tragic passing, Ledger had high aspirations of being a serious director. He helmed the video for “Morning Yearning” for pal Ben Harper off his 2004 double album, Both Sides of the Gun. An animated (yet, disturbing) video that Ledger had conceived for Modest Mouse’s “King Rat” was eventually completed after the star’s passing, but he was still given the credit. Most interesting is the video Ledger directed for Nick Drake’s “Black Eyed Dog.” Ledger, who was fascinated with the British singer-songwriter, also stars in the clip, which has only been screened twice in full and never been released to the public.

Every morning, MTV News delivers the top news stories in music, movies and pop culture hot and fresh for your reading and watching pleasure. We then bring together a trio of the biggest headlines for "Three to See," the daily digest of the top stories making noise on our site and across the Internet. This morning, stories on "The Celebrity Apprentice," Shia LaBoeuf's criticisms and the continued box office domination of "Iron Man 2" lead the way.

Bret Michaels Gets To "The Celebrity Apprentice" Finals
As part of his incredible comeback, Poison frontman and reality television star Bret Michaels made it to the final episode of "The Celebrity Apprentice" after three contestants got fired on Sunday night's (May 16) show. Michaels will square off against Holly Robinson Peete in a challenge that will see them design and sell a new flavor of Snapple. The final episode of "The Celebrity Apprentice" airs this Sunday, May 23.

Shia LaBoeuf Says He "Dropped The Ball" On "Indiana Jones"
In another candid interview from Shia LaBoeuf at the Cannes Film Festival, the actor stated that he "wasn't that impressed" with his 2009 Michael Bay blockbuster "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen." (He's not alone.) He also buried his own work in 2008's "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull." "I feel like I dropped the ball on the legacy that people loved and cherished," he said. "You can blame it on the writer and you can blame it on [director] Steven [Spielberg]. But the actor's job is to make it come alive and make it work, and I couldn't do it. So that's my fault."

"Iron Man 2" Dominates Weekend Box Office
Though Robin Hood was good with a bow and arrow, he was no match for a dude in a weaponized metal suit. "Iron Man 2" topped the box office chart again this weekend, beating the disappointing "Robin Hood" by nearly $20 million.

Every day a multitude of stars wanders through the halls of MTV News to talk about their latest projects and goof around with staff members. But sometimes we catch stars elsewhere, and that's why we put together Spotted!, a daily compendium of stars in the wild.

Sure, Katy Perry has been hanging out with Russell Brand at Fashion Week in Paris, but some stars have work to attend to. Take Shia LaBeouf, who was at the Central Park Zoo yesterday. But he wasn't there to wave to the polar bears or pet a snow leopard. Rather, he was there working with Michael Douglas on the set of "Wall Street 2," the sequel to Oliver Stone's sequel to his own 1987 film that originally starred Douglas, Charlie Sheen and Martin Sheen. The movie, which is subtitled "Money Never Sleeps," is expected to hit theaters some time in 2010 and will feature a musical score care of Police drummer Stewart Copeland.

LaBeouf and Douglas weren't the only people putting in time yesterday, as actress Teri Hatcher was spotted on the side of the road shooting an episode of "Desperate Housewives" and Vince Vaughn stopped by "The Late Show with David Letterman" to plug his new film "Couples Retreat." Click here for these photos as well as the entire "Spotted!" archive, which includes over 300 candid shots of Britney Spears, Madonna, the Jonas Brothers, Lady Gaga, Mariah Carey, Justin Timberlake and the casts of "New Moon" and "Gossip Girl!"

Shia LaBoeufBy Matt Elias

When we caught up with indie rapper Cage and his buddy Shia LaBeouf, they were holed up in a Hollywood edit bay, working on the music video that Shia had just directed. The song, "I Never Knew You," mirrors the turbulent past that Cage faced growing up — a past that includes physical abuse, addiction and institutionalization, which he reflects on in his music.

"Everything is from personal experience," Cage told us. "It's depression, heartache, falling on your face, getting up, falling down again — just like a lot of common stuff people go through.

Disney star Selena Gomez has long been rumored to be dating Nick Jonas, but just because she's already ordered doesn't mean she can't continue to check out the menu. And the dish that Selena has her eyes on these days is none other than former Disney-star-turned-action-stud Shia LaBeouf.

Selena has been talking up her crush on the 22-year-old star of such flicks as "Transformers" and "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull." Last week, the 16-year-old said she'd love to get Shia to make a cameo on her Disney series, "Wizards of Waverly Place." "I've had a crush on him ever since he was on 'Even Stevens,' " Gomez says in the upcoming issue of TV Guide. "It's very far-fetched, but I would love to have Shia on 'Wizards.' " Read More...

Shia LaBeoufMore than two months after the accident in Hollywood that landed him in the hospital with a crushed hand, Shia LaBeouf has finally broken his silence on the incident. In his first interview since the crash, the "Transformers" star told "Entertainment Tonight" on Monday that it was "eye-opening and terrifying." He also talked about how he's adjusted to his rapid rise to fame in recent years, saying he's "trying to figure out how to be edible to a lot of people." Hmm. Ketchup?

Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) may have asked Shia LaBeouf to man up and get ignition locks following his misdemeanor DUI citation in Sunday's Los Angeles car crash, but according to a report, the actor has done at least one thing right already. An eyewitness said that despite being encouraged to flee the scene of the crash by the person whose car he hit, LaBeouf insisted on hanging in and taking his punishment.

In an unfortunately timed coincidence, the forthcoming September issue of Details magazine features an interview with "Transformers" star Shia LaBeouf in which he discusses tossing back drinks and having smokes with his dad. In it, he admits that "I don't know how to have one drink." The actor is still recovering from a weekend DUI incident in which he seriously injured his hand, though his passenger, "Transformers" co-star Isabel Lucas, was not injured in the wreck.

"Transformers" star Shia LaBeouf, 22, was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence after he crashed his truck while making an illegal left-hand turn in Hollywood early Sunday morning. The actor was taken to a local hospital shortly after for “extensive” hand surgery, but a spokesperson said he will resume filming "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" within a month.
