From taking the Staten Island Ferry out to Governors Island for the first time to seeing Asher Roth and N.E.R.D. play an awesome outdoor concert in front of a couple hundred people to chopping it up with Santigold, Mary J. Blige and Pharrell Williams, these last couple days have been non-stop.
Today was the big MTV Video Music Awards media forum at Radio City Music Hall, an annual event where the country's top radio stations all converge in a huge makeshift media room in the basement of the legendary venue.
Sway, who is an old pro at doing radio both as the host and the interviewee, offered me some sound advice as we braved the rain and walked a few blocks from the MTV News headquarters in Times Square to Radio City. "Just do you!" he said, sounding a little Nike commercial-esque. But then again, he does know best.
The room was a maze of tables operating as temporary radio stations, with all the artists moving from interview to interview. Kid Cudi, Ryan Leslie, Fabolous, Raekwon, Jay Sean, Wale, Melody from the Pussycat Dolls, DJ Cassidy, Twista and a whole host of others were all hard at work talking VMAs, new projects and — in the case of the Las Vegas stations — downing shots of tequila as well. That's just how they do it in Vegas.
From Detroit to Philadelphia, I spoke with as many radio shows that would have me, and the everyone wanted to know three things: What's Lady Gaga going to be wearing, is Madonna going to introduce Janet Jackson's tribute to Michael and will Eminem be a surprise performer? My lips are sealed! But if you tune in Sunday at 8 p.m., you're certain to find out!

I was always told that it's good to cry, because it helps to release a lot of built-up emotions. It makes it even more gratifying when you cry because you're laughing so hard.
That happened today when I talked to Andy Samberg as he prepares for his hosting gig for the MTV Movie Awards. We met up at the back of the Gibson Amphitheatre on the Universal Studios lot. This is the area where the limos pick up the stars when the show is over. There is also a patio where the stars come to mingle and do press when the festivities end. Read more...
Frankie Delgado isn't taking his new gig as MTV Movie Awards weekend guest host lightly. The "Hills" star showed up to the morning news meeting ready to learn everything he can from the best in the business — Sway and Tim Kash — about how to be an on-air personality.
Sway laid the ground rules for Delgado, telling him, "Don't be late!" He then warned him that one of his fashion accessories should only be worn by longtime reporters: "Only the vets can wear shades!"
Then Frankie and Tim had a heart-to-heart about what he should expect while working the awards show alongside Lo Bosworth and Stephanie Pratt on Sunday.
"I want to see a stage," Frankie told Tim about what he expects from Sunday. "Belly dancers! I want to see Britney Spears, T.I." After Tim let him know he won't be seeing that stuff, he said, "Then I guess I want to see Andy Samberg. I got one!"
That you did, Frankie! To see if the reality star listened to Tim and Sway, check Frankie out before Sunday's big show at 9 p.m. ET.

By MTV News interns
Think being an MTV News intern is the coolest job around? Well — you can hate us for saying this — but we think you're right. We constantly get asked what it's like to hang out at the mecca of music and pop culture. We've decided to show you what it's really like to be an intern in the MTV Newsroom. It may be cool, but it's probably not what you expect.
So, we came up with the idea (thanks to some encouragement from Sway!) to deliver a weekly video blog documenting our time here at 1515 Broadway in Times Square.
Besides working alongside Sway, Kim Stolz and Tim Kash, we are exposed to just about anything and everything. This week alone, we had the chance to catch up with Asher Roth, Keri Hilson and Ashley Tisdale! But it's not all glitz and glam. In the coming weeks, you'll see everything from mundane tasks to how we help make some newsroom magic.

Have you ever gone to church after not being there for a while, and you hear a really illuminating, all-knowing sermon, and you feel cleansed? You walk away from the church feeling 10 pounds lighter and like a giant weight has been lifted from your consciousness. Anyway, that's how I felt after interviewing U2. Interviewing them made me feel how I used to feel when I first got into the game.
They were excited about music culture. As big as they've become, they have more humility and hunger than rappers I've interviewed who've only had one hit in the past year. Music to them is not just plucking their strings; it's spiritual. Them boys live to play, and they love to create and they love to make an impact on those who listen, and they want to be as good as they can be. They care immensely about their fans.

Something has changed in my friend Crooked I.
I've known him since the '90s, for over 10 years. I met him as an up-and-coming artist around the same time I met Eminem, Xzibit and the Roots. He was then, as he is now, one of the most skillful lyricists I've ever heard, and he's been a regular visitor on "The Wake Up Show."
Crooked I has had a very roller-coaster career. He's been through many independent labels and was also signed to one of the most controversial labels of all time, Death Row Records; he never released an album while signed to Death Row. He was once regarded as the guy who would resurrect the West Coast. Since then, he's become an Internet giant and has yet to drop the milestone that would revive his career.
I consider him a friend. Our relationship has gone beyond DJ/ TV personality and rapper. We communicate for advice and insight. Without revealing too much, I know that Crooked I has always been heavily involved in the streets, and you always worry about people who live in those circles, because nothing's guaranteed. I felt like he was making it out of that — until he was shot at.
I think something has changed in him since the incident, and I can hear sincerely that he really is contemplating his next move as an artist and what he wants to say to the world. He said he pretty much has cheated four or five brushes with death, and now he wants to leave a bigger legacy, in case he doesn't cheat the next one. He wants to reach people in a whole new, positive way. I, for one, am very supportive of that and interested to see what that means at the end of the day. Read more...
I'm just getting out of the Grammy Awards. The show this year was cool. I especially enjoyed Jamie Foxx and Ne-Yo in the tribute to the Four Tops. Jennifer Hudson is amazingly strong, and her voice is powerful. So many people in the building were crying.
During the red carpet beforehand, it was great to chop it up with so many of the presenters and performers. Was Katy Perry really flirting with me? We had a really playful conversation where she started off interviewing me. That pink dress was cute. Don't hurt 'em.
More of Sway's behind-the-scenes photos from the Grammy red carpet, after the jump!

I interviewed a lot of celebrities yesterday at the Grammy radio forum and Clive Davis' pre-Grammy party rehearsals, but the highlight of my day had to be when Wayne Brady decided to freestyle rap.
He said he was a fan of the radio show I do, "The Wake Up Show," and that he listened to a lot of freestylers on our show and that he was gonna freestyle in his pre-Grammy show that he's hosting for CBS. And I said, "Well, give us a demonstration." Check it out!
When MTV News' Sway headed down to Washington, D.C., for the inauguration, he was expecting it to be one giant party. And while it certainly was for some, he didn't do much besides rehearse for his gig as the MC of MTV's "Be the Change" Youth Inaugural Ball. Matter of fact, he didn't really leave his hotel room ... aside from one day, that is: when he took a moment to reflect on the historic impact of the events with his 84-year-old grandmother. He also reflected on the feeling in D.C. on that historic day, and on his interviews last year with Barack Obama.
"I managed to leave the hotel in the afternoon and meet up with my grandmother, Elsie Waters. ... She's the matriarch of my fam, and she made the pilgrimage to D.C. to witness the inauguration of Barack Obama. We met up at the Smithsonian, and we just talked about everything that was happening. I didn't know how to sum it all up, but she said so many things that were so right. Read more...
